    Pulled pork BBQ sandwich
    Victoria R.

Uppon arriving, the staff was very nice, greeted you and immediately asked to take our order. I went in for a tuna melt, and my boyfriend asked for the BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Tuna melt wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best. I ordered pasta, and they forgot to add in our bag, and with 90dg weather, they can keep it. The pork sandwich is a 4/5, really good, soft, and well seasoned.

    Steak sandwich and fries

I ordered a steak sandwich and fries. It was pretty good, the fries were great, but the steak was a too overcooked. I know it was busy so I understand. I'll try this place again and update the review. I'd say try it out though!

    Ice Cold beer

About time I did a review...long time customer. Great owners, great employees never had a problem. This was my go to after work spot to get an ice cold beer for a while. You order up front they bring you your food. Steak sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, pastrami sandwich, tri-tip sandwich, bacon cheeseburger all highly recommend. All come w fries except the grilled chicken sandwich. Can't go wrong w any of those. To be honest i dont think I ever tried the bbq ribs or chicken. It's always been one of the sandwiches listed above or a bacon cheeseburger (you can taste the freshness of their burger patties). You can sit inside or outside in the patio. Great spot to come enjoy a sandwich and an ice cold beer. Gus and family will greet and help you with a smile.

I've passed this place for 2 yrs and finally stopped to try out the food. Happy I did. Very good shredded chicken sandwich. Next will try the pulled pork sandwich. I recommend this place. Great customer service also.

So my husband has been talking about this place since he had lunch here a few months ago and has been raving about the pulled pork sandwich. He finally took me today and I had to try the pulled pork sandwich. So I did so and I must say this was a pretty dang good sandwich. The bread wasn't hard at all it was soft the meat was good and the sandwich was stuffed just right. The bbq sauce on the sandwich wasn't too sweet or too tangy it was a perfect combo. The ambiance of this place is super cute and clean definitely an old school butcher shop vibe I thought it was the perfect little spot for a simple bbq. They do have meats you can try there. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. I would most definitely go back to try something else

Best barbecue tri tip sandwich! They should separate the pick up line from the ordering line though.

I love this place but it is better to order in person or on the phone. Their online ordering system still need to be worked on.

So many options, lots of bottle/cans and a rotating draft menu that carries more than IPAs, nothing wrong with IPAs, i drink them but other types exist. I can always find my funky Sours on tap, and did i mention delicious fresh samiches? Dayum son! Hope nothing but good luck for them, they are a staple in Downey's DNA.

In our pursuit of great…read moresandos, we've tried Katz Deli in NYC, Brent's in Northridge and even the sorely missed but never forgotten Miller's East Coast Deli in San Francisco. So when, tasked with finding a suitable place for our quarterly lunch meeting, I entered "Jewish deli" and "Downey" into Yelp, half expecting to find the lackluster lineup of national chains that PURPORT to make good sandwiches- Subway, Joysie Mike's, Jimmy John's and the usual suspects of sandwich sorriness! Imagine then, fellow Yelpers, when Uncle Henry's Deli appeared...as welcome a sight as my gorgeous bikini-clad wifey. Both Mick and I, who first bonded over our shared love of the national pastime, immediately likened Henry's with the MLB legend who shares my birthday- Henry Louis Aaron, aka Hamnerin' Hank and the REAL all-time home run leader, Barry Bonds and his oversized gourd, er, head be damned. In his 22yr career, Aaron belied his average size (5ft 11 tall, 185 lbs) and deployed his missile-fast wrists to smack 755 homers. All while playing in Jim Crow era Atlanta. Uncle Henry's Deli, similarly, defies expectations. Who would think of putting a Jewish-style delicatessen in Downey, famous for birthing the honey-voiced Carpenters and the self-styled "Mexican Beverly Hills?!" Mick ordered a super sized Original, which is turkey, roast beef + ham plus cheddar on white. He went with potato wedges which are sizable. Me? I chose one hot, one cold. A super sized Big B (Pastrami, Bacon + Swiss on toasted sourdough, hold the pickles) and an Egg Salad on enviably well made squaw bread, hold the tomatoes. Pro Tip- From a lifetime of ordering well made sandos in every major city in America, never put tomatoes on a cold sandwich unless you want the notoriously water-dense fruit to dampen your sandwich! The only mild drawback of my food order was the side of potato salad, which in my opinion would benefit from some black pepper and minced celery. The service at Henry's is expedient- You've barely helped yourself to one of their dark wood benches when they've called your order! The restroom was, yes, as cozy as the overall venue...but sufficiently clean + stocked. Watch out, tho- The hot water runs hotter than the devil's temperature! In closing, you can take Uncle Henry's to the bank. Yes, you'll part with upwards of a Jackson, mebbe even two. But you'll enjoy the treat, cuz the caliber of food is very bit as real as the hammer (aka Louisville Slugger) that Hamnering Hank used to bash all of his home runs with.

OJ's is located in a small strip mall but parking is adequate so no worries there. Having checked out the menu on Yelp, I already knew I wanted the Italian. I had called twice before I drove there but no one picked up so I was relieved they were open. The Italian contains ham, cotto salami, mortadella, and best of all capocollo with provolone. The large is enough for 2 people to split or make 2 meals out of if you're not ravenous. All the lettuce, tomatoes, pepperoncini, and onions were very fresh and the roll was nice and soft. The Works sub must be a real monster. Service was great. My sub was done in a snap and I was ready to go. Very friendly staff working the shop. The only let down was being charged for using a credit card. I didn't see any sign but maybe I just missed it. It was only 75 cents so no biggie but it would be nice if they could tell you there's a charge if you'd rather pay cash. Oh well. I'd like to try some other sandwiches the next time I'm in the neighborhood. Thank you OJ's!
