Extremely good. We heard about Gusta before our trip to Firenze and knew we had to stop in. I must say that the pizza was well worth the wait. It was absolutely delicious. We tried a few different pies and absolutely loved all of them. There is no place to sit so we sat on some steps near by but it was well worth the wait. I would 100% recommend anyone spending a few days in Florence to hit up Gusta as it was well worth the wait.
I'm glad I was able to try Gustapizza! It was a nice treat and good experience. Around 1:30 PM, other restaurants were beginning to close, so we wandered over here. There was a line forming along the wall, but we were seated within 15-20 minutes. Between four people, we shared three pizzas and had about 7 slices leftover. They gave us a box for the leftover slices. Gustapizza €12 - This was my favorite! It had fresh arugula on top. The tomatoes were so good. I loved the tomato sauce. Porcini €13 - This was good only because of the sausage. I didn't like how mushy the mushroom was. Cotto e funghi €12 - This was the second best of the three. This also had tomato sauce. The ham and mushroom were good. The table next to us ordered the truffle pizza €15; it smelled so good. I would try that next time. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted. Pay at cashier. Bathroom is downstairs. No WiFi. Menu is in English. Cover charge €2 per person.
You can find my all-time favorite pizza at Gustapizza in Florence. Their Margherita Pizza is my idea of a perfect pizza. You can taste the freshness of each component, which blended together so beautifully. The mozzarella was bubbling as it was delivered to the table and each bite was heavenly. The wood-fire oven also makes a huge difference because the crust was perfectly crispy yet soft and held all the ingredients so well. I dream of this pizza and highly recommend it to anyone who visits Florence. Best meal on the trip!
The Calabrese pizza was unmatched. I've never experienced crust so fluffy and enjoyable even on its own. The best way I can describe it was pillowy. I've had great pizza in the states, but the main difference is the incredible quality of this crust. Don't let the line discourage you from trying. This is a must eat on your trip to Florence.
My husband and I walked past the line at this place the other night and told ourselves we would check it out for lunch. We arrived close to opening time and were able to snag an indoor table. Pizzas were delish! We paired them with a bottle of sparkling wine because that is how lunch on vacation should be. We had the Margherita and the Tartufo with prosciutto. Double yum. We followed the lead of the other patrons and used a fork and knife to make our way through the pizzas. They play good music and the people working here are super friendly.
Awesome wood fired pizza in Oltrarno! We waited in line for about 30 minutes before being seated inside. We looked at the menu while in line and felt prepared to order right away since we were so hungry. I was so intrigued by some of the pizzas like the tuna and onion one. I went with the GustaPizza - sauce, mozzarella, arugula, tomatoes, more cheese. My boyfriend got the Calzone opened, which had sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, and salami. I had a glass of wine and we each had a sparkling water, plus an iced tea. Our total was only 39 euro. The pizzas were big and we each could only eat half. I actually loved my boyfriend's pizza even more than mine. It was fun to sit near the pizza oven and watch the workers prep and cook them so quickly. I loved this pizza! Definitely would recommend!
Omg-the Gustapizza was the best pizza ever. It was so fresh and flavorful. I loved it so much! Just prepare yourself as an American to cut up your own pizza, and maybe eat it with a fork because the napkins are not enough. It was insanely good! My boyfriend got the calabrese which was spicy! We both liked the Gustapizza more than that one.
Pizzas are legit. Beautiful chew on the crust and dough. It's strictly pies here and they know what they are doing. Heart shaped upon request is a tad gimmicky but you are in Firenze so just go with it. Prices are excellent as well. Mange! read more

Came here for dinner after a long day of walking (gotta get those carbs). The food here is AMAZING-- great tasting pizza for the price. The different prices range from 5-8 euros and drinks are around 2-3 euros. Pros: 1. Great pizza 2. They have chili oil for you to dip your pizza if you like it spicy! Cons: 1. Cash Only 2. Small place and it's busy, but a greeter will help you find seating (most tables are shared unless you have a large party) read more

MAMA MIA PIZZA PIE I got the calabrese and it did not disappoint. I am confident in saying that this was the best pizza that I had in Italy. I'm not a big crust guy but this one was incredible all around. I would say the only downside to this place would be that it doesn't have a lot of seating, but if you just get a pizza to go, there is a cute plaza about a 1 min walk away. read more
ITALIAN PIZZA HOW IT WAS INTENDED. Literally went here for pizza and couldn't go anywhere else. What would be the point. This was insanely good, just wait in line and just come here. The pizzas are so freshly done with the most authentic ingredients. The best pesto and mozzarella pizza with dreamy creamy cheese and fresh pesto on the lightest and most flavorful dough. The inside is not the most beautiful, but that's not the point. You order at the register, take a number, sit down, wait for them to call your number, take your pizza to your table and watch your whole perception of pizza change. If you're starving you could get your own but we probably could've split the pizza between two of us and been satisfied. read more
Was recommended to try gusta pizza by my cousin's daughter who said it was a must try. Me and my wife decided to go for dinner ordering the caprese and calabrese pizzas. They only accept cash so remember to bring cash with you. We ordered the pizzas to go. After returning to our hotel to enjoy our feast we realized they gave me the wrong pizza, i was given the Margherita! Should have checked my order before leaving but the place was packed and small that we wanted to get our order and eat. So check your pizza. Given the margharita i tried it and was not impressed other than the fact that the dough used was quite flavorful, the rest was meh. Toppings amount is okay as i expected based on other yelp photos. For the price you get a decent pizza with a nice portion size (personal pizza). All in all i would rate this pizza as average, there are better tasting ones elsewhere. read more
I have fond memories of Gusta as a poor study abroad student who was delighted at their €3 pizzas. Although their prices have risen and the lines are longer, the quality and experience are just the same. Don't expect to sit down at Gusta. It's a small place and you'll most likely be hot and stressed out by the chaos. To-go orders are best; we either ate ours at the nearby church or took it home. Once you place your order, you'll most likely by out in 5 minutes. The kitchen is a machine of pizza making. You can't go wrong with your order, but the Napoli is my favorite. Nothing beats little salty pockets of capers and anchovies on their fluffy dough and amazing sauce. Lastly, don't be afraid to show up 15 minutes before opening. By 7:00, the line will be down the block. And don't be discouraged if there is! The best pizzas in life are worth waiting for. read more

Pizza is very good. Vibe is good. Note that this place basically caters to tourists and the line is long. (And it's long well before open). Not saying that's a bad thing but that's where the hype comes from. Service was solid. Sat outside and it was great. To be clear, there is a lot of good pizza in Florence and this is one of many. It is not the only one. Ignore the hype or embrace the hype, your call. Lots of great pizza in Florence. Lots of great food in Florence. read more

Highly recommend coming early and lining up before they open! If you order to-go, there is a shorter line. The pizzas were worth the wait and it just melts in your mouth. I am still dreaming about this place halfway across the world! read more

I visited this place upon the recommendation of a previous tour guide who said GustoPizza was his favorite place. Located in Piazza Santo Spirito this tiny pizzeria is a tough gem to find, but a gem indeed. There's often a long line which is a good indication of a great spot so I didn't mind waiting to be seated (preCOVID visit). The staff is fast and incredibly friendly so don't shy away if you're nervous about the language barrier. They have a few menu items which to me just means they value quality over quantity. All to say, the food will not disappoint ! The pizza was drool worthy and incredibly. They shaped ours like a heart which was a cute touch. It was more doughy than I expected but as a carb loving person this was right up my alley. The crust was perfectly charred in all the right places. The margherita pizza sauce tasted super fresh accompanied by a leaf or two of basil. Since it's served piping hot, straight out of the brick oven, the cheese is all melty and truly the icing on the cake. I consider this personal size (or maybe I don't like to share) but I truly recommend getting one per person. I easily devoured mine and contemplated on a second. Don't worry about the calories, in Florence they don't count! I can't wait to visit again as this will surely be on my list and recommend you add it to yours too! read more
We have been to Florence several times but this was our first time to Gusta Pizza. We got there around 4pm and easily got a spot to sit outside. The service was quick and our pizzas came fast. I ordered the house Chianti which was very good too! We got Pizza Napoli and Margarita to share. The ingredients were fresh and just bursting with flavors. The evening got a little bit more memorable when Helena Bonham Carter, who played Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter, passed us by! This was some of the best pizza we had in Florence and had some amazing vegetarian options! The Tartufo pizza was delicious with fresh burrata and truffle cream - definitely my favorite for the night. The gustapizza was good but a bit plain and didn't stand out as much as I'd expect for the namesake pizza. Be aware that on a hot day this place is going to be a long wait - you can opt for picking up a pizza and taking it back with you. For a party of two, we got seated after a 45 min wait on a weekday night for dinner, larger parties were taking longer. read more
We got here a little bit before they opened, so we walked around to check out the other establishments in the area. We came back right when they open at 7pm to find a very long queue. Most people order boxes and boxes of pizza to go, because seating is very limited. Gusta Pizza does a very good job of cranking out these pizzas in rapid fashion. As the line dwindled down, I could see that they have a very well-oiled operation. In all the ordering commotion, I forgot to request my pizzas in heart shapes. Oh well. We took our fresh, personal-sized pizzas and sat outside of the Pitti. 8€ Calabrese Pizza - pomodoro, mozzarella, salame piccante, basilico, olio extra vergine (tomato, mozzarella, spicy salami, basil, extra virgin olive oil): The dough was very nice and soft and chewy with ever so slightly charred edges. The sauce was nice and sweet with just a couple of crunchy basil leaves. The spicy salami was very good, but I wouldn't have minded a couple more slices of it and it would have been nice to have them spread out more evenly. 8€ Caprese Pizza - pomodoro pachino, mozzarella di bufala, basilico, olio extra vergine (cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil): Also good, albeit a little messy to eat, because the cherry tomatoes, basil, and chunks of cheese are uncooked toppings, so they did not adhere to the pizza. The basil smelled very fresh and there was an abundance of it. Eating freshly made pizza out of cardboard boxes on our laps right outside of a museum as the sun starts to set is definitely a great way to have dinner. read more

Very good pizza for price. We arrived 10 minutes before opening for lunch and there were already 3 parties waiting in front of us but we were seated right away. Pizza came out within about 10 minutes. I thought it was very very yummy. Waitress was not very friendly but that was fine. read more

You are a little shocked when you see how long the line is but let me just tell you it's worth the wait. I think we waited for about an hour and we're all very hungry by the time we got to the door. We ordered right when we sat down and it took about 15 minutes to get our pizzas. They were all so delicious. You should definitely ask for the chili oil to add on. Everybody was so nice who worked there, and even gave me ice which is a hard thing to find in Europe. read more
As one of the most famous pizza joints in the world, Gusta Pizza had A LOT of hype to live up to. Ultimately, the pizza was unbelievable, the environment hectic, and the prices stupidly inexpensive. Our last night in Florence culminated with one last pizza. We arrived to a line out there around 7pm. The line moved quickly, and we realized the wait wouldn't be as lengthy as it appears from the outside. The menu contains six pizzas and one calzone. That's it! The Italians are simple people that only care about quality. God love 'em! If it were just me, I would've ordered the Calabrese. But since it was me and the lady, we ordered the classic Margherita. At six euro, you truly can't beat it! When it's busy, an employee seats you. We sat with two travelers from China. In just three minutes after being seated, our pizza was ready. Look at that beautifully brown crust and melted mozzarella. One thing we learned overseas is that pizza is presented uncut. I did the honors. Was it delicious? Absolutely! The dough was truly front and center, at least in my opinion. Unique to any pizza I've ever had. I will say, this wasn't the best pizza we even had in Florence though! Still one of the top Margheritas I've feasted upon. Everyone we encountered was very personable, in true Italian fashion. The four stars is more of the process of the dining experience. It was very by the book. Because of the volume of the business, and with only 30 seats, they need to continually turn tables. With that comes a sacrifice in the customer experience. You can't linger, you can't let that last sip of wine go unsipped, or that last bite of pizza go unbitten. It's definitely a must visit when in Florence. You have to be a snob to say otherwise. Go to Gusta, maybe just at an off hour! read more
Gusta was a Florence send-off. Dining there at a communal table, knowing I'd be off to Rome in the morning possibly never to return, was bittersweet. A young woman sat solo beside me as my son and I made our way through our meal. We were all of 10 inches away from one another but it wasn't until the restaurant cleared out and we were the only 3 diners left that any of us acknowledged how awkward the arrangement suddenly felt. It invited conversation which proved, despite delicious food and wine, to be the highlight of the evening. She was traveling as a party of one, on a long hiatus from her home in Tel Aviv. We talked of the Israeli Army, the (possibly) sitcom writing she was trying her hand at, and her observation that all Israelis are related in fewer than seven degrees of separation. She was lovely; I wanted my son to run off with her. Knowing I'd never see her again or learn how her life turned out left me with the same feeling as leaving Florence. Gusta had been recommended by both my airbnb host as well as a pair of traveling sisters from Boston encountered at another restaurant. Even before their recommendation we'd noticed it in a cluster of other similar places near to our Oltrarno apartment. Perhaps due to the nostalgic feelings inspired by the above or the warm service at Gusta (we were the last to leave and were assured that there was no need to hurry), my meal here is recollected as warm and satisfying and made with love. Just look at that delicious cheese plate for only 6euro. Or the Wild Boar Pappardelle. Or maybe the Lasagne which my son enjoyed every bit of. Gusta is billed as a pizza restaurant but it's so much more than that if you let it be. It's a place to make memories, engage with your neighbors, and a warm little send-off to that week you shared once, with your son, in Florence. read more

Point of View - American from California who came to eat. Pros - The crust on this pizza is unlike any crust I have had at every other pizza place in Italy (trust me fam, we try a new one every day). The pizza has a ton of flop, but that's just the style of pizza out here. Sauce is one of the best. Cost is really economical. Softest most edible dough in the game. Cons - Line to eat can be nuts, we waited 25 mins. Floppy pizza (but you get used to it). read more

We waited in line before opening and even though we were one of the first people let in and seated, we were one of the last to have our order taken. We waited about 45 minutes while other people who were further behind us in line got their pizzas before we received ours. We got the porcini and the pesto. It was not all that great at all. The porcini pizza tasted like fried spam and canned mushrooms with a watery sauce base and the pesto pizza tasted like something you can just get at a market for a cheaper price. Overall not a great pizza place. read more

Before visiting Florence, a few of my friends recommend Gustapizza and said it was the best pizza they had ever had. Now that I've been, I can definitely confirm that this is some freaking good pizza. First of all, you know this place is good because the line is often out the door and it's hard to get a table inside. Therefore, try to go at less of a peak time for lunch or for dinner. It's also a great deal for what you get. I got the calabrese pizza and split it with my boyfriend, it was only 8€ and filling for both of us for a perfect little meal. The crust is SO good on this pizza, it's actually really flavorful unlike a lot of other pizza crust that is bland and not anything special. I think the texture of the overall pizza is awesome, not too crunchy and not soggy. I don't have a bad thing to say about this place honestly... just go there you won't be let down. read more

When we asked friends for recommendations of places to eat while in Florence, a few people mentioned Gusta Pizza, so we knew we had to try it! Our first night in Florence we headed to GP and got there around 8pm, ordered at the counter, sat down and had our pizzas within 5 minutes. The pizza was so good- toppings were fresh and the crust had the right amount of chew. It was so good we came back a second time a few days later! Our second time we got there at 7 (when it opens) and waited in a line that wrapped around the building. The line moved quickly and once we got to the counter, our order was ready quickly. I'm glad the service was quick, however the pizza wasn't as thoroughly cooked as it had been the first time we went. Still was delicious though! Gusta Pizza is definitely crowded and if you choose to eat in the restaurant your party will be asked to share a table with other diners. No AC, but there are lots of fans that help with the hot air from the ovens. Make sure to fill out your order slip with your name and where you're from - slide it under the glass table top before you leave! Also- Rumor has it that you can ask for your pizza to be made in the shape of a heart if you order in Italian :) read more
