Had a craving for tacos and decided to stop here. Ordered 6 tacos, which totaled to about $20. Tried the asada, pollo, birria, and pastor tacos. They were all so good! Just the right about of spice and juiciness. The service was fast, we waited for about 5 minutes before we got them. There's a sauce and sides bar where you can pick up some spicier sauces or some radish. This is more of a grab and go kinda place, but there is some seating inside and outside. read more

Stopped in last week for asada and pastor tacos and an asada burrito. Not really sure what happened but the asada and pastor did not taste like the previous times we've been. The asada lacked any flavor as if it was not marinated like before and had a weird after taste. It definitely wasn't grilled the way they used to leave a slight crisp on the outside. The pastor was dry and the cinnamon was a bit over powering. The staff who took our order was the same person but not sure about the others...hoping it was just an off night. read more

The burrito I got here was surprisingly good! The chicken breast was cubed, cooked perfectly, and seasoned very nicely. I ordered and my food was brought outside to me once ready. I really had high hopes for this place but was extremely disappointed. First off the cashier seemed drunk and smelled like he just drank a 32 pack of beer. The most shocking part was the food being left out on the table with no ice or any cooling . I ordered the 1 whole chicken combo that came with rice and beans tortilla to go. When I got home there was no tortillas lol the beans taste like pure salt the rice was complete mush. The chicken seemed off somehow. The chicken meat idk something wasn't right. I got a burrito with no meat and it was delicious! A large burrito for one person, super filling and tasty. I got myself a side of green salsa from the salsa bar and it only added delicious flavor and heat. The burrito also came with chips for about $10. I enjoyed it! This place is in serious decline. There is yet another owner who was there yesterday learning how to use the iPad order system. Chips were grabbed by gloveless hands, tortillas were grabbed by gloveless hands that were just touching the filthy tablet screen. Pastor was just sitting out in a stainless tub. The tacos all fell apart when picked up even though they used 2 tortillas. The chips were very brown and stale like they were fried in old grease. No reason to ever return. A taco truck parked within a mile of here would make a killing. read more

Living in Socal, there aren't any shortages of Mexican restaurants, but this place is truly the best. All the food is good quality (actual meat and not rubbery fat) and it's fire grilled to perfection. The chicken is flavorful and juicy. The steak (asada) is mouthwatering. However, it's the Al Pastor that got me writing this review. They have the best Al Pastor I've ever had. Not that the other meat choices aren't very good, but the Al Pastor is the clear champion. DELICIOUS Mexican food served here! We were tired of going to our usual spots so of course we used Yelp to help us find a gem! It is a very charming family owned restaurant. The man that took our order was great! We got the chicken burrito which was filled with rice, beans, salsa, cilantro, onion, and chicken. We also had the huevos con machaca. Both items were very yummy! They also had a great salsa bar with various salsas as well as veggies such as radish, carrots, marinated onion and more! Sorry, but this place just doesn't cut it for me. It wasn't the worst place for Mexican food, but it was NOT GOOD, either. I've had GREAT authentic Mexican food (see review on Taco Reyes), but this place was sub par. Being "authentic" does not constitute greatness or success. Gutierrez has much to learn. Their salsa "bar" was mostly filled with empty containers, and frankly, what was there, the (seemingly) homemade hot sauce, was disgusting. It was flavored with something neither my husband nor I could tolerate. I don't know what it was, but it had a BAD flavor. Not spoiled or anything, just bad tasting. Their version of salsa was just pico de gallo.....and no flavor, at that. The carne asada taco was with microscopically chopped pieces of gristle-y round steak with no appreciable flavor or marinade. Terribly overcooked and dried out. The chicken enchilada was not flavorful........I saw a sauce, but it didn't have any taste. The guacamole was not at all what I like, and it was way too lemony. I seriously don't know what others see in this place, but I can assure you, we will not be back. Also, the menu, as simple as it looked, was hard to figure out. It listed a bunch of dishes, but I couldn't really figure out what it included.......nothing was described. I have an idea......the owners should take a trip over to Taco Reyes and see how THEY do it. They seem to get what authentic and successful is about. read more

The food is amazing. But the guy just can't seem to get my order straight. Seriously the best carne asada burritos in town...if they can make the food the way it's ordered. I order a very simple burrito that has only 3 ingredients : carne asada, avocado, and onions. Of the last three times I've ordered it, it's been correct once. One time, they added cheese (which I didn't want), the second time it was correctly made to order, and third time (today) I ordered carne asada, avocado, and onion burrito (order it all meat to avoid confusion of other ingredients) and it literally came with only carne asada. After a long day at work, and struggling to appease a toddler while grocery shopping, my partner and I were looking forward to some delicious Gutierrez for dinner because we didn't have the time or energy to cook dinner and try to get the kid to bed on time. I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed once I got home and unloaded the kid and the groceries, got her put in the high chair to eat, sat down with a cold beer only to find that my burrito was missing not one, but TWO of the three ingredients.
