This was our first time to go to Taqueria Portillo and we were very pleased with our visit. The establishment appears very clean and welcoming. We were greeted cordially and quickly. My husband and I each ordered a chili verde taco à la carte just to see if we liked them. When they arrived, my husband was surprised that they were so small; not realizing they were street tacos. The chili verde was delicious; some of the best we've had. They were so good that we had to place a second order. . We are anxious to return and try more items on the menu. Oooooweee Im excited about this one! I had a long day of working my small business and i was starving. I had a taste for seafood and here this place was!!! Tacos Shrimp taco, the marinade on the shrimp was perfection. It was not too spicy and very fragrant against the pickled red onion. The way it all came together it was slightly acidic, fresh and flavorful. Fish taco, it was slightly breaded with similar seasoning as the shrimp. It had a tangy sauce to it and i could have honestly ordered three!!! Super taco (no meat), this had all the fixins. Guacamole, cheese, sour cream. It was so good. A great way to round up my meal. They threw in some tortillas that i dipped in the salsa. Jamaica Aguas Frescas, not overly sweet, refreshing and made this worth the wait. I was shocked by my experience there today. And I'm going to say that maybe the cook was just having a bad day. I went in today at about 6pm. My order was quite simple bean and cheese burrito with onion, cilantro, and GREEN salsa, 1 taco with green salsa. Let me just say $17 not including the tip for a bean and cheese and 1 taco was a little insane to me but I can get past that. I happen to see the cook making my burrito and noticed he put red salsa so I politely said oh no I asked for green salsa. He calls the cashier over and says something to her in Spanish but I wasn't able to hear. He aggressively wrapped the burrito and threw it to the side and proceeded to make a new one. Still clearly being able to see what he is doing I noticed there was no cheese in the burrito. So I told the cashier I ordered a bean and cheese but there's no cheese. She walked over and told him and he opened it up and added cheese. I apologize to her and said I hope I didn't get her in trouble. She just looked at me and shrugged. We have been there quite a few times and have always had a good experience not sure what happened. I heard it was new owners so maybe that's the difference. Fast forward to me getting home and unwrapping my burrito and being beyond disappointed in the fact that it was all tortilla and very little beans or cheese. Love this place! What an amazing place in Moorpark! They just opened, taking over the location where Sr.Ozzy's used to be in the Ralph's parking lot. They have a location in Camarillo as well. Food is amazing! They have taco Tuesday all day on Tuesday with some of their mini tacos at $2.50 instead of $2.99 (not the shrimp or fish). The tacos come with onion, cilantro and salsa. You can also get a side of grilled jalapeños and onions. If you eat at this restaurant, they have an amazing taco salsa bar! Our family's new go-to spot for to try a variety of Mexican food! Yum! This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant and it's right here in Moorpark at the west end of the Ralph's/CVS shopping center on west Los Angeles Ave. Today had two delicious chili verde tacos and one crispy fried fish taco that were outstanding; so tasty and authentic. Had free chips and a selection of sauces, pickled vegetables, chopped onions, cilantro,etc at their salsa bar. A few days ago had a similar experience with their carne asada, pastor, and carne asada, all great. Excellent service and selection; highly recommended. read more

Moorpark has a new gem in its midst! My hubby and I tried this restaurant after we had gone to CVS in the same mini mall...we are so happy we did! Excellent food! I had the carnitas plate, really delicious. My hubby had the fish taco and two pork verde tacos, all so good. Their salsas are wonderful and so fresh. Service was great and they play good music too. I am so sad because I would like to have a great Mexican restaurant here in Moorpark. I order dinner from here & was very disappointed. Enchilada sauce tastes like spaghetti sauce. The rice was dry & beans didn't even taste like pinto beans. The food needs more flavor. The Nopal Salsa was bland. What a wonderful surprise to see this location here in Moorpark! We had regularly driven from Simi Valley to Camarillo to get Potrillos amazing quesabirria tacos and consomme, and I am thrilled to report that they are just as good here! This new restaurant in Moorpark, CA. Is a game changer when it comes to Mexican food. Their Tacos are the best I have had since Sals closed in Oxnard many years ago. These are real tacos, not street tacos, not soft tacos, these tacos are stuffed with meat and cheese and lettuce and amazing sauce. One bite and you will not go back to whatever you've been calling good tacos. Then, they have a super burrito that is very large stuffed with your favorite meat, rice, cheese, beans and a green sauce that is fantastic. The chile rellenos are as light as air and very large - in fact everything is large. The people who work there are so nice, they actually come to your table to ask how the meal is tasting. Lots of seating, lots of parking and a large menu. This review is after eating here four times and making sure that it still as good as the first day and it is. Business is slow since they're brand new but picking up. Stop by and you will not be disappointed. Oh yes, you got to try the hard shell tacos. read more
