It could be considered a hole in the wall, but the food is pretty legit. We had the fajitas and a burrito which were both very good. Would have liked more veggies in the fajitas and guacamole and sour cream weren't included but otherwise it was all good.

Chile Relleno Buritto with rice, beans, cilantro, and chopped onions.

The food was amazing as you can tell I ate some before taking the picture. The salsa, which came with the burrito, had a nice kick. We ordered 4 burritos and two tacos. The burritos had a nice crisp to it. Because the restaurant is small, the service is intimate and sufficient. The restroom was clean which says a lot.

We ordered the enmoladas and the tlayuda tradicional, both were really good, but I can't stop thinking about the mole! This place isn't a fancy spot, just authentic delicious Oaxacan food.

Love this place! Very cute hole in the wall restaurant in Moorpark. We got two different types of enchiladas and loved them. They also gave us delicious chips and salsa while we waited for our food. Would definitely come back!

Horchata Oaxaquena

holy crap as someone who doesn't like sweet horchata this is by far the best horchata I've had in my life, no artificial taste whatsoever it's clearly made in the back of house and all prices were so damn reasonable for the portions, I would come again and I'd recommend yall come try

My friend had us try a New Mexican restaurant in Moorpark and I'd rate it a solid 3.75 but we round up here so they get a lovely 4 stars. Nice to try something new and to support a local, mom and pop business. The restaurant is tucked away in a busy but small shopping center so it's easy to miss. This isn't off the main drag in Moorpark but wasn't far off the main road. Makes sense though why we hadn't seen it before. The parking is a little tight and parking fills up fast but coming on a weekday night there were some spots available. The restaurant itself didn't have much in terms of decor and design. I would definitely say this is a very causal spot and not one where you'd dress up or that it really had the ambiance of a busier Mexican restaurant in town. This is definitely a hole in the wall, local spot. Nothing wrong with this, we were just unaware until we got here. This spot could use a little decorating and adding some warmth to the place so it feels more like a place people would want to sit down to dine vs focus on to go orders. Otherwise though the inside was clean and spacious. We also liked the tv they had above where we sat as they played some unique music videos in Spanish which we enjoyed watching and commenting on while we waited. The pricing was very reasonable for how much food they gave and the quality seemed there. Most dishes were under $16 and they were plentiful. The menu is in Spanish but it was easy to translate and understand the majority of this dishes. The menu wasn't too big but had some unique and well throughout options. Lots of traditional Mexican fair and classic combinations. The staff here were very nice, there was actually one girl who seemed to be running the place and she did a really good job. While you can order at the counter, they do have menus and when we noted dining in she helped us grab a table and gave us the physical menus to look over. It's nice that despite being a casual place they do provide food service and take your order at your table if you request. This girl was very friendly and sweet. She took orders, brought our drinks, and managed the front alone from what I could see. It wasn't busy inside so it all worked out. The food was pretty darn tasty. I had the red Oaxaca enchiladas and they were really fabulous. I'm not normally a fan of chicken enchiladas but these were cooked well and the chicken didn't overshadow the dish. The red chipotle sauce all over the plate was tasty, surprised how saucy they made the dish but I always like that. I loved the little touches like fresh onion on top, totally gave the dish a nice crunch and broke up the flavors in a classic but tasty way. The red rice was good, nothing crazy and also tasty refried beans. In the city of Moorpark it's really nice that they have a local no frills mexican restaurant nearby. While I don't know if I'll be craving this spot again soon it was for sure tasty and the staff were friendly here, they deserve your business.

Maracuya: Passionate fruit agua Fresca

I just moved to Moorpark and being the foodie that I am, I went out to look for something yummy. I had no idea that I would end up eating Oaxacan. I hesitated a little at first but glad I had the courage to try something new. The food was delicious. Very generous portion and authentic flavor. I ordered a Huarache with chicken. The chicken had that street taco flavor and texture. Very good seasoning. There was a green tomatillo sauce that accompanied the dish. The sauce was a little tangy for my taste. After I ordered a side of black beans and the Cotija cheese off set it a little. The Huarache was thin and had a pinto bean filling inside. This reminded me of the Mexican gorditas. The service was good and the restaurant was descent. They had Rock en Español playing on the background which lighten up the place. Very humble and kind people. The service was excellent. The drink was made of passion fruit and it was refreshing and just the right amount of sweet. I'm definitely coming back and highly recommend this place. If I could change anything, it would be to add the black beans to the plate and top them off with sour cream. Uhhhh Y-U-M!!!!

Came here after the Underwood Fall Festival.. I really had been wanting to try dishes from Oaxaca. I am so glad we came across this place, the food was absolutely tasty. Even my very picky eater enjoyed the Memelitas and his chocolate Oaxaqueño. Parking can be a bit challenging but will definitely be going when we are in the area.

It was somewhat of a Mexican-style interior. Nothing flashy. So when I was told what type of food they had they had Carnitas. And that's all they had. I was asking if I could have it with eggs or in a burrito and they said all they were offering that day were tacos. Don't get me wrong. The meat was very good very soft tender, but that's all it was. They said they couldn't make burritos and they couldn't put eggs or anything else with the meat until the following day. Which made no sense. However, the meat was very good and they put plenty of meat in the taco which was the equivalent of 2 1/2, it was a lot of meat. This is my opinion, and you will have to go there to form your own opinion. But I probably won't go back in the future.

The food is always fresh, super hot, and tastes delicious! The service is good too. there is sometimes a line to order but it moves quick! And they have some great servers there. Tonight we were treated so appallingly that we may never come back. It was busy for taco Tuesday when we put our name in, and two female severs were directing traffic... the owners daughter basically yelled at us, if you're waiting for a table go outside so servers can get through with food... ok ya, totally understandable but don't yell at your customers. Her tone was annoyed. Then we were skipped for our seat and when I asked the other female server was super rude saying that wasn't the case (but we watched it happen). But it was really the way she spoke to us, more than the situation. Just really disappointed in how they treat their customers, we own a small biz and wouldn't dream of speaking to people like this. Later when one of the guy survers we know well noticed what was happening he came over and immediately apologized and offered to take care of us himself - but we were so turned off I didn't want to stay... he said we should tell the owner who was working the taco stand... So I did tha and she was apologetic but as we walked away her daughter said "I'm the owner too and I don't care". Alright. Good to know, we won't be supporting your biz any longer. 10+ years... we come twice a month.... But we can definitely take our biz to other Mexican restaurants in town (Luna Llena and Lalos) who appreciate us every time we visit, have amazing food and something called respect... Bye bye!!!

The restaurant has a patio area with tented sides, which is where they seat large groups. The concept is a good one, but when the overhead heaters don't work and it's cold outside, that's not ideal. Service was slow, and our waiter made repeated mistakes. My husband asked for a taste of a particular draft beer, and was presented with a full schooner instead. He likes to squeeze in lemon and had to ask multiple times for that side request. Then our young granddaughter ordered the kids' burrito, but the brought the adult version and charged for it. I didn't pay the bill so I didn't realize it right away. Not until it was too late, actually. Dear Hubby and I ordered the shrimp fajitas to share, which had an underwhelming number of shrimp. Whole lot of grilled onions, though. The taste was just so-so. The best item I had was the virgin mango margarita. Otherwise, it was an overpriced meal in chilly surroundings. Kudos to the restaurant for having colorful, festive Valentine's decor. That was a plus.
