The website didn't indicate that the full-service restaurant was permanently closed. There is a hybrid version available with minimal items on the menu. I didn't end up getting anything because I ordered a hot link only realized as it was being prepared that it was just the link being sliced, it wasn't coming on a bun....I was like, huh??? No thanks! But the hubs got ribs & baked beans, which he stated were overpriced and subpar. But the gentleman serving was nice & the venue the hybrid is in was nice!

The Smokehouse is a fixture in the Waterside building at norfolk. There's a large Central eating area with giant big screen TVs and a central bar that are surrounded by 8 or 10 restaurants. Among those is Guy Fieri's Steakhouse. My wife and I decide to give it a try. She had the pulled pork and I had the beef brisket. Admittedly I wanted to try the ribs but they were already out by 2:30. There's only four options for sides my wife had the baked beans and I had the french fries. Starting with a meat, the brisket was definitely a home run compared to the pork. It had a crust and burn tips in sections that really brought out a lot of flavor to the beef. The pulled pork was acceptable but really had very little flavoring to it. They give your choice of sauces to use. I wanted to try the juju sauce but they were out. So instead I had the bourbon brown sugar and my wife had a classic Carolina vinegar barbecue sauce. The bourbon brown sugar was put together well with a sweetness and a thickness that worked on both the pork and the beef. The Carolina vinegar sauce was actually a bit spicy and also a little bit more vinegar flavored than we're used to even though we're right here by North Carolina. For the sides, the restaurant really needs to work on upgrading their sides. Options of mac and cheese, beans, coleslaw, French fries. As I said my wife had the beans and I tried them as well. They were regular pinto beans with tomato sauce There were some pieces of pork fat as if you had a slightly upgraded can of pork and beans. It did also have small chopped chilies in it. Basically I found that if you had a bite with a Chili's it was pretty good but any other bite mixture and you were not enthused about the dish. We ended up throwing half of it away. The french fries were crinkle cut fried french fries. What more can you say? On a Sunday afternoon there were a few dozen people with a chill atmosphere and sports on TV. There are no wait staff as essentially this is a food court.

Very apprehensive due to reviews...so I had to come give it a try myself! Came with a big party (made reservations) and our overall stay was about 2 hours. Came starving (poor choice) and the wait seemed treacherous, especially smelling others food pass by, but that definitely gave us hope! Forgot the name, but the white peach + whiskey drink was good. My friends liked the jackrabbit. A waitress was good, forget of a couple things but all was well. The trashcan nachos presentation was amazing and true to its name! Though it was tasty (those beans put in work!), a lot of those nachos were super soggy. Not sure why but it would've been even better if crisp. My tatted up turkey burger (no cranberry sauce) was also so good that I finished the whole thing! Idk what donkey sauce is & I don't care because it was just right. My burger was light but filling with the addition of some bbq sauce. The sriracha bbq sauce was just okay. Not true heat to it...which kind of defeats the purpose. The fry trio the meal comes with was good, but they fry the waffle fries waaay too hard. Overall, good meal and service!

At the Bar. First time here, Hope the food is good. Review coming later.

Tried out Guy Fieri's Smokehouse last night for Monday Night Football and. Some good food. The experience was GREAT! The staff are super friendly, go out of their way to help you, nice selection of drinks and food. Large flatscreen TV's around the bar which you can see from anywhere in the bar area and what I was a dance floor on the other side. The inside is very nice....has that sports bar/ dive feel to it signature to Guy himself. It really laid back and very nice The drink selection is not large but what they offer is very good. Also, they will make drinks for you that aren't even on the menu. I had a vodka drink served in a mason jar (I forgot the name) and it was out of this world. It had Tito's Vodka, lemonade, mint and some other stuff. I'm not a fan of sweet drinks like this one but it really was good. I had the best bartender. She was a lively 24 year old thang that knew her way around the bar and could make any drink you desire. She interacted with me, made drink suggestions, was personal about what she liked and didn't like; now that is a Bartender. She took my food order, brought out a bunch of sauces and told me "you gonna need that" and anything else I ask for. She was. 5 star by herself. The large flatscreens were perfect to watch a game on. I mean I could see and hear every detail of the game. I ordered the Brickhouse Burger. It had came with some interesting fries. You see they were came from different cuts in one order. Some were curly, some waffle, thick and thin cut. Wasn't served hot and very under seasoned - could have used a little more salt. The burger was served on Texas toast wrapped in foil. It was not seasoned well but had a salsa on it that gave me the salt it needed; so this worked. It was more bread than burger so they need to work on that. Overall a really good experience and I'm looking forward to visiting again.

Finally, tried this place out! We had a very good waitress who accommodated my party of 12 very well. The inside of the restaurant is not as big as I thought though. With plenty of different meal choice, this is a good place for a group. I went with the turkey burger and it was dry and bland. But I haven't found a good turkey burger from anywhere so I didn't really expect anything much more from here. BUT the crabcake my son had ...was good!! Who would of thought to get crabcakes at a smokehouse? It did not have a lot of fillers so this is worth getting. The smoke Mac and cheese was good! Very, very cheesy and fulfilling. It had like panko or breadcrumb topping. This was enough for the kids where they didn't need to eat anything else. My mom said the platter (andouille sausage, pull pork, ribs, brisket) and dad shared was good. But my dad said it was alright and he is a good bbq/smoker so I'll go with his opinion- LOL! He said it lacked flavor and too salty. No rush to come back but if I do, I'm going for the crabcakes!

This the kiosk, not restaurant. One person working. Very nice guy. Mac cheese was not creamy but spicy. Too hot for my liking. Fries were hot and good. Brisket was ok. BBQ sandwich ok. Nice choice of sauces.

First, let's start this off by saying tHat my husband and I haven't gone back to this restaurant for a little over two years due to the first experience we had (which was pretty bad-food, wait time and all around service). With that said, we came to Waterside to grab a bite and were considering everything except Guy's. We sat down at the bar directly outside the restaurant and began looking at reviews of Guy Fieri's Smokehouse since we were considering of trying it again. After looking at reviews from yelp- we decided to not go back for a second try until the bar tender Jasson changed our minds. Jasson was awesome and was genuinely interested in knowing why we didn't want to dine there and what our previous experience was. He was committed to changing our minds and went out of his way to relay our a sentiments to his GM Cyrus. Cyrus came to us and explained the changes and growth that Guy Fieri's has experienced since he has taken over and welcomed us to take another shot on Guy's......so we did. Freaking night and day experience! Let's talk about the wait time-none (granted we came for lunch) our food came out very quick. The food, TOTAL TOTAL REDEMPTION, beautifully presented eye p*rn. The food was hot, flavored PERFECTLY and honestly way way better than expected. The service was honestly what made the day paired with the food. The fact that Jasson and Cyrus took the time (without us even asking to speak to them) to understand our experience and their desire to change our minds was above and beyond what they needed to do. My husband and I just said how bummed we are that we blew off this restaurant for two years after the amazing experience we had today. GM Cyrus, you just gained two new permanent diners. Jasson- you're the man!!!! Without any reservations, if you had a similar bad experience 1 time, please come back and try them again. We are so glad that we did.

    Smashed potatoes and Cobb salad
    Audra E.

This place is not good. From the moment we walked in, I was underwhelmed. The hostess looked very confused, as if she didn't understand the layout of the restaurant she worked in. We stood there for a good 4 minutes before she finally figured out she did have an open table. I ordered a Cobb salad with no egg, cheese or dressing with a side of smashed potatoes. The chicken on the salad had no flavor, was cold and the chicken was hard. The bacon was not real bacon, but something I would have gotten in my college food hall. The potatoes were not smashed. You basically just got mini baked potatoes. The spices on the outside of the potatoes were good. The water tasted like they got it straight from the ocean so I ordered a soda and that tasted like they don't clean the machine. The server was okay. I would not return.

This place is great! The first time I went was with a group of people so I was able too sample quite a few I items and the food did not disappoint! So, I decided to give it a go again but this time, bringing new people and it was restaurant week!!!!! I just knew they were going to order something different so I could do what I did the first time but nope, we all end up ordering the same thing . The bird eye burger or something like that. It was great big flavorful juicy and did I say great? The only thing I DID NOT LIKE is that the chicken was fried, other than that it was great!!! The fries were ok, a bit salty but I still ate them all lol! Our server was cool and the layout of the place is a nice vibe and it's in a GREAT location

"Tatted Up Turkey Burger" My advice: hold the lettuce.

Once we were seated, we were able to enjoy Ilo's food and service. Mom and I had two appetizers - Grilled Octopus (skordalia, kalamata olive, caper, pickled red onion, arugula) and Laughing King Oysters (from Cape Charles). The octopus was perfectly cooked as it wasn't tough and rubbery, and the oysters were fantastic. Mom had the Wild King Salmon, which she enjoyed (but couldn't finish). I had the Hanger Steak, cooked to a perfect mid-rare. I gobbled it up. Dessert came in the form of a Cheesecake Semifredo. They put us in their back room (hint - GREAT for groups) there was a little confusion with the order to include an extra dish we didn't order. We still ate it and paid for it though. The staff was great with our large and rather disruptive group. The food was all excellent (local oysters on the half shell and the apple desert were my highlights). Multiple cocktails that were all wonderful. My only real negative was that there was a $50 "loyalty club " charge that was never mentioned and I didn't even notice on the $1200.00 bill. This is, I believe, some sort of credit card fee. Both times were good. Both times staff were wonderful. Both times we were comfortable. Give the place a try. I don't think you will regret it.

I expected smash, I definitely got burger. But hey, we can't all be winners. Meat is meat. I'm glad to be fed. You will be left looking at the meat wondering what went wrong. Did a baby smash the burger? A hamster perhaps? When one asks for a SMASH burger, they expect a milli-inch of meat. Does this look like smash borger? No. I am not crazy. I wanted a SMASH. This s a BURGER. God bless. Thank you for reading my review.

Nothing particularly bad, but nothing that really stood out either. I ordered the Frisco Melt with sweet potato fries and a Torch Runner, which is basically their version of a rum runner. The Frisco Melt was good enough. I believe it's the only smash burger on the menu, although it was quite a bit thicker than most smash burgers I've had, so I wouldn't necessarily describe it as super "smashed." Either way, it tasted fine. The sweet potato fries were actually the highlight of the meal for me. They were really good. The Torch Runner was also fine. The outdoor space itself is nice and has a relaxed atmosphere. There were some kids playing with the jumbo Jenga blocks while I was there, which added a little life to the patio. They also have two bar-height fire pits that I've sat around on previous visits, and those are always a nice touch. It was a little too warm for me to enjoy them this particular night, but I can definitely see the appeal when the weather cools down. The biggest downside to sitting outside was the bugs. I eventually had to break out the Off bug spray because they were pretty persistent. Obviously, that's not necessarily the restaurant's fault, but it's something to keep in mind if you're planning to sit outside during warmer weather. All in all, Torch Bistro was just okay for me this time around. The outdoor space is nice, the sweet potato fries were great, and everything else was perfectly fine. Not a bad experience, but not one that particularly wowed me either.

Well we finally made it back here for dinner on a Wednesday night. We started with the pretzel…read moreflight. SO disappointing. The sauces were good, especially the beer cheese (at least they haven't changed that). What was pretty terrible were the pretzels themselves. They take the longer soft pretzel logs and cut them into bite size pieces. And then they are FRIED. Who fries soft pretzels? They were hard and greasy. This is the first time in our history of ordering a soft pretzel appetizer that we just couldn't finish it. They were that bad. For entrees Hubby ordered the crispy chicken Caesar and I got the burger with fries. Hubby's salad was huge, but there was way too much Parmesan cheese. He never did get a good taste of the dressing because of that. The chicken on the other hand was well fried and still juicy inside. I ordered my burger medium, and it came out mid-rare, which is how I eat them anyway. The burger itself was salty - guessing the flattop maybe hasn't been cleaned after lunch? The top bun spent a little too much time on the flat top as well. The pickles they use are sour (some people like that, I don't mind), but if you are not a fan of sour pickles, you'll want to skip them. Service was fantastic and it's a very clean place (restrooms are particularly clean). I am sure it is a great place to go for drinks - the bar is pretty extensive. But since we don't bar hop anymore, I don't think we will be going back. One last word on the pretzel appetizer because I am still shaking my head over that. If you want to serve pretzel bites so there are more ways to try all the dipping sauces, just purchase pretzel bites and bake them.

The waitress we had was really friendly & provided efficient service. The beer list is extensive and there's also plenty of mixed drinks and liquor as well. The menu is filled with a lot of different options. There's something for everyone for sure. A lot of casual but elevated bar foods. I went with the chicken tender platter and I'd get it every time I go back. Perfectly cooked tenders, fresh cut fries, a bowl of their homemade Mac and cheese & coleslaw. All for think $19? That's a steal, and ended up taking half of it home. This is definitely a place that we will continue to come back to. There's another bar & pool tables in the back as well I believe!
