Am a regular who loves to go to country boys and when the sweetest ladies lift the lids and say what's on the menu for the day it's pure bliss. Very consistent and maybe 1 time the brisket was dry, other than that they always change it up like turkey for Thanksgiving, prime rib for Christmas, brisket chili, burnt ends, and always have old reliable brisket. 11/10 food with the best vibes read more

I have had many food here but not the brisket. Today went and ordered 1lb for $27! For good brisket I'm down. This brisket was pot roast stringy, dry, with thick fat not rendered. So sad. Was so hungry and looking forward to it. read more

Just tried this place when we saw it was open. It's a brand-new spot on Bridge Road where O'Doodle Doos Donuts used to be. It's amazing!!! We got the Family Packer for 4 and it was plenty of food and quite delicious. We also ordered a banana pudding which is literally the best I've had (besides my mom's of course). Fun place inside. You enter in one door, order, pay, and then exit out the other side. There is no indoor seating, but there are covered picnic tables outside near the smokers. It's not Carolina/Virginia style pork, but so good and somewhat unique in its flavor profile. The brisket was also very good. The Mac & Cheese, Slaw, and homemade buns were all exceptional. Stopped on a rainy day to grab a quick bite. This place is IT! Got a brisket sandwich, one of the best I've had. The brisket is thick cut but so tender. The sandwich is piled so high with meat, they had to make their own bun to hold up to its mass. That's right, they make their own buns. Excellent pulled pork, good brisket, the best banana pudding I've ever eaten, and delicious freshly baked rolls. Service is friendly and as fast as they can be. You might have to wait in line for a few minutes, but the food is worth it. read more

Love this to go food joint! Very homey and love the country vibes. Their food is always so delicious and always has that fresh off the smoker flavor. They are always changing up their weekly menu which I also love and the homemade desserts are a plus. Their chicken salad and hand pies are some of my favorite items and of course their pulled pork is always good. They do not have indoor seating but do have a cute little covered outdoor area with picnic style tables if you don't want to take your food to go. The bbq itself was good chunk style, however they smoked it well but only had a strong vinegar based sauce that I had to ask for. It was overwhelming and way too strong for me to use. The buns seem to be homemade but it was over cooked. The sandwich itself I would eat again. The sides are literally like they took them out of a can. No flavor in the mac and cheese or the baked beans. Finally the banana pudding was below average. Very vanilla tasting. Overall, they seemed super nice and moved us through the line well. The meal was overpriced and in my opinion very average. Not a spot I would hit again with so many other great choices nearby. read more

We ate here for the first time today. It was okay, but not something I'd make a second trip out from Western Branch for. I got the sampler with the chicken salad. The first thing I tried was the chicken salad and, despite using smoked chicken, it really didn't have any flavor. The brisket was good, but the pulled pork also didn't have a lot of flavor. I think it may have been better if it came with a little cup of sauce? The mac and cheese wasn't my style or flavor either. If you like spiral noodles in a cheddar cheese sauce, then you may like it better. My idea of mac and cheese at a barbecue place is browned melty cheeses, homemade style. The homemade buns and the banana pudding were good. All and all though, for the price, I've had better. read more

Not from the area but stopped because I wanted BBQ. The sauce to add to the bbq was delicious as well as the brisket n baked beans. We bought a rack of ribs to take home to a family member. tried it for the first time. I was skeptical, but I really liked them. I was surprised to see this is a woman owned business.... expected to see a burly dude with a long beard in there...... The inside is done up in rustic style,,, I thought it was well done. No place to sit in there at all just like they say. you step 5 feet in the door and you're in line looking at the food. I didn't have issue with that either. I got the sampler plate. The rolls were surprisingly good, but in a way different than what i"m used to. Seemed to be some type of salt on them. They were a good compliment to the meats . Obviously meant to be eaten with the meats. I regretted only getting one. I had more meat thant he rolls could cover!..... I thought the pulled pork and brisket were good. .......i'm just getting into the brisket/pulled pork world, though, so I can't compare them, really, to meats from other places. Also, I like sauces, so I enhanced the flavor with their sauces and even tried some of my own when I got home. But I personally thought it was good. The green beans were tasty. I plan to get more green beans next time. ...........I got the cheeseburger soup as a side. I regretted doing that in the end because the soup and the sampler platter together really makes for a lot of food in my opinion. I'm not a light eater at all, but I was there for lunch . My new go-to for BBQ. I'm not a big fan of BBQ, but this place does it right. Their menu is a little limited, but everything we tried was awesome! I'd definitely recommend. Word of advice though, get there early. There's usually a big line in the afternoon. read more

I struggled with writing this review as I generally give locally owned restaurants some slack. I can not bring bring myself to give it more than one star. The Pork and brisket has very little smoke flavor and is bland for BBQ. The Mac and Cheese was the worst I've ever been served. Super mushy noodles and very bland. The buns where tough, chewy, and bland. The potatoes and beans was the best part of the meal but even that wasn't impressive. The flavor was ok but the green beans were over cooked and tasted like they were from a can. Over all the worst money I've spend on a meal. It's near my home so I really wanted it to be good but it isn't. The only good thing I can say is that the woman working the counter was friendly and nice. read more

Country Boy's Barbecue in Isle of Wight County gets it right every time. The homemade rolls are the best I have ever eaten and loaded up with pulled pork, coleslaw, and pickles is phenomenal. The meat and coleslaw are savory and aren't over powered with vinegar. the flavors of the meat come through. The portions are heaping and I can't ever finish it all. The potato salad is super good, too. And oh, man the baked beans are the best. I can't ever save room that banana pudding! But I get it to go. And the Bergoo tastes like my family made it. While I will miss the old donut place, this is a very good local establishment. The pulled pork has excellent flavor. I had it on a roll with two sides for $13. The baked beans were good but nothing extraordinary, but the banana pudding was to die for. It was full of sliced bananas and topped with a whipped topping. All together it is more than I should have had. In addition, I purchased two blueberry tarts for my wife. she loved them. I will be coming back. read more

This place has so much potential. Unfortunately, there aren't many food selections, and those they do offer are bland. I was excited to see what looked like a good country bbq joint come to town, but they miss the mark. Living in TX for 20 years turned me into a barbecue snob, and Country Boy's did not disappoint! The pulled pork is outstanding: Juicy, flavorful, tender. The brisket is also delicious: Tender, moist, flavorful. The dry rub they use on the brisket is delicious. Home made rolls are so good! Eat them while they're warm (I might have eaten mine in the car on the way home). And the banana pudding is, in my husband's word, "legit." Service is friendly, and the smell as you walk up is pure barbecue heaven. read more
