It was mid-afternoon on Friday leading into the Memorial Day weekend and the toilet overflowed. Guy was able to send a plumber over to diagnose the problem. He determined a very old drain line was clogged, likely from tree roots. And on Saturday morning, a crew arrived and proceeded to locate the clogged line, then dig down to find, remove, and replace it. The work appears well done, and on short notice on a holiday weekend. We had an issue where the shower would not turn to cold. (or hot but, I turned up the heater and that solved that problem lol) We contacted one plumber who asked for pictures of the faucet. After showing him, he ghosted me.) So we contacted another plumber who, over the phone, said they would come out, diagnose and fix on the same visit.) The guy showed up (super nice) but never even opened the faucet to investigate. He told me what he thought the problem was which is exactly what I told them I thought the problem was over the phone) and said he would have to schedule another visit to fix it after some research. We got a bill later in the day for $250 for his "diagnosis." Instead, we called Guy plumbing because we had heard that they were really good. We showed Troy a picture. He said he was surprisingly unfamiliar with the exact faucet (it was super old) but he was not in intimidated at all. We scheduled an appointment for the following Monday. Dave came out, on time and, was no nonsense. He knew exactly what to do and had the proper tools and parts on hand. The shower was fixed and working great within an hour. Im led to believe that most plumbers are kinda winging it. They know their way around and can figure some stuff out. But Guy Plumbing clearly has serious experience and know WTF they are doing. Generally we use wizard plumbing. Never had a bad experience until recently. We had a leaking faucet. I called, and asked for the earliest availability and someone was sent out the next day. When I called, I said our faucet hose is broken and needs to be replaced. I knew the brand of our faucet, and the problem. So that's the backstory. They send someone out, he comes out and says it's going to be $350 to diagnose the issue( again, I knew the issue) but if that's their rate I'm not going to fight it. He proceeded to tell me that my faucet is dated and parts are unavailable. Also that our shut off knobs don't shut all the way and need to be replaced. I said I don't think that an issue as we've never had a leak prior and maybe the water he heard running was the dishwasher that was going. He called a few plumbing stores, said we couldn't get a replacement hose as they don't exist. I do have text message proof- and that we needed to buy a new faucet. Okay cool. I agreed. He said the turn around time was 3 weeks with the possibility to be sooner. He said he'd send a photo of the new faucet so I could approve before purchasing. Mind you our sink is leaking. So 3 weeks isn't a quick solution. Now it's about 5pm, assume he's off for the day, and decide to chat with the manufacturer of the faucet. Right away, I send him a photo- and he says that hose is xyz, it's available and here's a discount code. HONESTLY not even 3 minutes into a chat and the hose is available. Then he proceeds to tell me, guy plumbing has it in stock, and I should call them. I call guy plumbing- they have the part, they schedule an appointment for early the next morning. They show up and within 15 minutes the leaking hose has been replaced. Nothing is leaking, the shut off valves work fine- and ultimately in less time and money to FIX THE PROBLEM than the diagnostic charge from Wizard. Dan from guy plumbing is undoubtedly amazing, knows what he is doing and honestly was so nice to work with. He was quick, efficient and fixed the problem in minutes. I will forever use GUY plumbing with an additional needs moving forward. read more

I had a problem with a single hand shower handle by kohler. My mom had got bids from 3 different plumbers from $750-$975. I came down to my moms home and took it apart myself. It was a simple washer that needed replace and only "Guy Plumbing " stock Kohler parts. So I decided to take a drive to the establishment and was politely greeted by Domingo at the counter. I go on to tell him about my situation and show him photos. He went into the warehouse to look for the part and came back with a guy name Danny. Danny, took a look at the parts and photo and instantly knew, what was needed. Danny, took about 8 to 10 minutes to find the part and even explained to me on assembling it. I worked with them a whole bunch years ago, but during the pandemic they turned down their hours and I was having a hard time getting an appointment - so I wound up working with Other Plumbers From The Internet. Recently I needed a new water heater and I called Guy plumbing - and working with these people is a pleasure and a relief. Yes, you get put on hold when you call, but that's because when they pick up the phone someone experienced and knowledgeable is going to answer. She took the time to walk me through reading the stickers on my water heater, walked me through prices and options (heat pump water heater? gas water heater? what size will I need? she didn't try to upsell me at all), and then sent someone out - within the hour! - to double check whether a new water heater would fit in the space. The person who showed up was courteous and knowledgeable and he worked with me to schedule the new water heater install. I knew I was going to be busy today and he offered to install it even when I'm not home - just leave the garage door unlocked. He instructed me to flush the hot water from a bathtub for a few minutes upon getting home - to get rid of any air in the pipes - but I'd be good to go. These gentlemen are old school, and because I've worked with them before I felt entirely comfortable doing this. I came home to a functioning water heater and a clean and tidy workspace. These people are so old-school, they don't even bill you when they show up - they send you a bill in the mail. What a delightful experience. Great communication, prompt service, no upselling, no pressure. As a single female of color, I really appreciate working with contractors who treat me with respect and communicate clearly. read more

Don't always believe what you see on Yelp. I received quotes from 2 different plumbers for fixing a faucet with low water pressure. They both had 600+ reviews and perfect 5 stars. Both of them said that I needed to replace the 2 angle valves and the $800 kitchen faucet that's only 5 years old because the rubbers from the blown out gasket ruined it. I noticed that neither of the 2 plumbers had photos of fixtures from KWC or Hansgrohe so I went to Guy plumbing to get their take. Guy plumbing had a very quizzical look when I mentioned the diagnosis and said that they could probably fix it. Low and behold, they came out the next day, replaced the 2 angle valves and fixed the KWC faucet in 1.5 hours. The pressure's back and they also tightened the faucet, hot water dispenser, and soap dispenser-all of which were pretty loose. They have all the tools and parts are are extremely efficient. They also guide you through what they are fixing and show you what's wrong and why certain parts fail. Such an amazing service. read more

In case you are considering using Guy Plumbing think twice. I have lived in Menlo Park for over 30 years and have never been treated so poorly by a company as I was this last week. After spending a large sum of money on fixtures and plumbing supplies we hit a glitch with one part that did not work. Long story short, despite being given two parts found to be defective Guy insisted it was my contractors fault and went on to bill me twice for the same part, as well as labor costs. I showed Guy a video of the broken part not working still they blamed my highly competent contractor. I called Guy to discuss the bill. The owner, identified as Troy, proceeded to berate me and once again blamed my contractor. Rather than accept responsibility they pointed the finger at the other guy (no pun intended). Incomparably worse than that was the way I was yelled at and treated on the phone. I NEVER would have expected this treatment from any company. I choose to buy local to support our community and expect the extra service we look forward to receiving. Sadly, I found the exact opposite from Guy Plumbing. Regardless of whether my contractor made a mistake - which the evidence showed was NOT the case - it was simply unacceptable to treat customers in this fashion. I will NEVER do business again with Guy Plumbing and do not recommend this store for its service or supplies to anyone. Amazon has the same parts and is much easier to work with. After a long hot summer the seasons finally changed and I cleaned out the furnace filter and tested to make sure it worked. Then it did not even start the blower when I commanded it from my new thermostat. Not good. I called Guy Plumbing who had serviced my furnace from the previous owner and Allen Guy who replaced the ancient mechanical timer thermostat with a new easy programmable digital one told me he had enough spare parts to keep my furnace working for a few more years (saving me from replacement). I called and made an appointment for Allen to come back out and see what was not working. Of course when he showed up it did kick back ON! Allen did verify the thermostat was working but had me replace the batteries and had the furnace go through a few start up and shut down cycles. I've always wanted to hire Guy Plumbing & Heating because friends and acquaintances have recommended them. Recently, our toilet tank was not filling up quickly. I was able to schedule an appointment for the following week. The service was amazing (from the scheduling to the job itself). I even shared pictures of the toilet and tank beforehand to ensure the service person would come with the proper parts. Troy finished the job in 30mins (would have taken even less time but I was so curious and asked him a lot of questions). He replaced one rubber ring and the replaced another small part to the troubled toilet. Along the way, he explained what he was doing. Then without prompting, Troy offered to replace the ring and small part on the toilet in our second bath. He left me the packages so I know which part numbers fit my toilet since he saw that I was keen to learn (and potentially fix the issue myself the next time it happens). Have purchased 2 sinks over the years from Guys. Always happy with the products. In December we purchased 2 toilets and had them install as well. The man who installed them was very nice and we loved the new toilets. A couple of months ago one toilet was causing problems so I called Guys and they quickly came over and found it had a defective part. The plumber replaced the part with no charge for the visit.
