Walked in at around 45 mins to close over a year ago, went to the counter to order food, and they told me they were already closed. I was like how, are your hours incorrect and how was I able to walk in? They told me they wouldn't serve me. Fast forward to today, they have now have closed all US locations. I visited Guzman and Gomez on May 4, 2026 and had a very frustrating experience. The steak tacos I received were incorrect and the meat was extremely tough--almost rubbery and not enjoyable at all. When I brought this to their attention and requested a refund, the situation only got worse. Instead of processing the refund, I was charged again for the tacos. This was incredibly disappointing and inconvenient. As a new parent with a newborn, I don't have the time or flexibility to keep returning to fix the same issue. I expected better customer service and a simple resolution, but that was not the case. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location and suggest others proceed with caution. read more

I was so excited to finally try this place because I had heard good things. Spoiler alert - it sucks! Honestly, this place makes my blood boil and it's been a few days since my experience. First off, I downloaded their app to my iPhone and no matter how many times I tried to use the free burrito introductory offer, it wouldn't let me. It kept saying "not available on this device". Not only that, but if you exit the menu/ordering screen (which I did to check for the free burrito since I couldn't figure out at first where it was supposed to appear) it deletes everything from your "cart" and you have to rebuild your order from scratch. I decided to order inside instead. Upon entering I thought it looked nice and inviting. I like how they have a bar area to grab condiments, such as different hot sauces, which have lids for to go orders. That's where the compliments end... I figured I could show my rewards barcode to the cashier since the app indicated the free burrito was in there, but she told me it could only be used in the app. When I explained the issue I was having in the app, she just shrugged and said she's not that familiar with that. So my husband, who has an Android phone, downloaded the app and had no issues getting the free burrito offer. I guess the app doesn't like iPhone users? I don't know, but it certainly felt that way. I mention the above because I should have heeded the universe's warning not to bother with this place. My husband got the beef brisket burrito. Not only were there only 2-3 pieces of fatty, flavorless, chewy meat inside, the size of the meat was too big for a burrito. Imagine biting into a burrito and pulling out a large chunk of meat with your teeth. Not only that, but the pickled jalapeno he requested was only at the tail end of the burrito. It's a real pet peeve of mine is when the fillings of a burrito aren't distributed evenly throughout. The point of a burrito is to get a taste of everything in a single bite, not to have a different flavor experience as you work your way through it. Shame on this place for prioritizing speed over accuracy and haphazardly putting together a burrito, that if the shoe was on the other foot, they wouldn't want to eat themselves. As for the chicken burrito bowl, see my photo - it is NOT the mini size, which I almost ordered. I was able to eat the entire thing in one sitting. That was never the case when I used to get Chipotle. Much like my husband's burrito, there were only a few pieces of chicken and none of them were bite-sized. Why wouldn't they make the chicken pieces smaller? Not only does it make the bowl easier to eat, but it appears you're giving people more food that way. There was hardly any Pico de gallo in the bowl, and even though it claimed to come with tomatillo sauce, it didn't seem to have any in it. The lettuce was just a few large chunks that tasted like dirt. I cannot reiterate enough that the way they construct burritos and burrito bowls here is incredibly STUPID. Has no one who works here ever eaten one??? And why are the portion sizes so small? The chips and guacamole were ok. I personally don't care for tomato in my guacamole, so I've had better. The chips were just ok, and once again, the portion size was small compared to other restaurants. Honestly, I don't get the hype. My husband and I promptly deleted their app from our phones and will never eat at a Guzman y Gomez again. read more

Sorry for the flip-flop. G&G is still the best burrito around for the price and availability. There's a slightly-better burrito just down Ogden, but they dob't open until 10. So, I've had very, very good experiences with G&G, averaging 2-3 times a week. But, on Saturday, I went to G&G, and got *miserable* customer service: the entire restaurant was closed permanently. Reading into this later: the owners decided it'd cost too much to achieve their expansion plans. So, why not just lay-off ALL the employees with less than 24 bour's notice, no planning, no consideration for Loyal Customers?!?! Why not slink back to Australia, and die? Losers. read more

I stopped by here for lunch since I work down the street and I think chipotle is a better deal. The quality is about the same and the food is fairly average. However, the quantities they give are smaller. It's not as filling as chipotle. The tacos tasted good. Nothing out of the ordinary but they definitely skimped on the meat. The manager "Freddy" should be retrained along with his entire staff. They are incapable of taking correct orders, and Freddy is rude, aggressive, and not capable of managing a busy store. They do not accommodate simple requests and charge for containers, per Freddy-yet they have a self service area where there are containers for salsas. He seems to make the rules up as he goes along, all while upsetting customers and sending them across the street to Chipotle. Anytime he is in charge the food is boxed up extremely sloppy. We have been supporting this place since they opened , but will not return while Freddy is in charge. read more

I wanted to like it. I went twice. Got tacos the first time and I ordered thru the drive thru .they told me they didn't have salsa. Ok- not all places will give me extra salsa to pour on the tacos. They were SO DRY it was awful. About 5 months later I got a carnitas burrito- huge chunks of meat like 3 inch by 2 in that were impossible to eat with breaking up. One side of burrito was cold from the cheese and sour cream that I could feel thru the wrapping . By the time I got it home max 10 min later it was all cold. Never again. read more

Yum! Fresh. Warm and fun service. Big George is all smiles and Little George is full of enthusiasm for good reason. Food is made fresh daily and you can TASTE it. The chips and guac was next level. We had a chicken quesadilla, steak taco, brisket taco and a carnitas burrito bowl. Similar but WAY better than Chipotle. And the salsa bar is much appreciated. The mild pork (zero heat) was so savory and crispy too and I could up the heat on my own so it was easy to share with my daughter! Will be back for breakfast next time! I'm a simple man. Give me a competent breakfast taco or burrito and I am content. The breakfast burrito here is better than competent. It's really good. Guzman y Gomez is a solid fast casual Mexican restaurant that leans slightly American, but still sticks to its culinary roots. If you're looking for a burrito, bowl, tacos, with some Corona and margaritas, you can get that here! I like dining in as seats and tables are plentiful. The interior design is varied and is insta-worthy. Sides include fries which you can top with queso. Churros here are decent, but you have to pay extra for chocolate and caramel sauces. Guzman y Gomez doesn't break the bank, and I prefer it to more expensive places that have a 1 hour wait. Whether it's to go or dining in, you can't go wrong. read more

Solid 4 stars from me. My friend had told me this place is kinda like the Burger King of Mexican food. Ok, I found it a little nicer than BK. Staff Christina quickly greeted me. I ordered a California burrito, three soft shell steak tacos, and three hard shell ground beef tacos. In my California burrito, there were more fries than meat. I was eating more tortilla than anything else, which means the burrito wasn't filled with much. The soft shell taco consisted of one shell. Not suppose to happen. And it wasn't filled with much. The hard shell tacos were on point. I spent good money on this, and this is what I get in return? The staff here were very friendly and food was served quickly. Pricing is reasonable. Their enchiladas are really a burrito with sauce. The portion size is good and it comes with guac. Inside the burrito it was rice, black beans, and pulled pork. I thought the meat was good but there was too much rice and beans. Sauce, cheese, pico, and Guac came on top with a handful of chips on the side. Our guac was a dark green/brown color which means it's getting old, visually it shouldn't have been served, it also didn't taste very good. I had queso on the side and it was bad. After telling a local that we went to a super good Mexican restaurant last night, he told me we did it wrong. I said, "What?! It was awesome!" He then proceeded to tell about this mythical new Mexican joint that just opened. He said, "Everybody in Naperville is talking about Guzman y Gomez." I now see why. This place is incredible. Now, it is NOT a sit-down restaurant. It IS a fast food Mexican spot (similar to a Chipotle or Q'doba). But it is next level. The ingredients seem super fresh, the food explodes with flavor, and the atmosphere is unreal. Literally, we walked in the front door and my jaw dropped. I want one of these closer to home. Solid breakfast burrito place with an easy drive-thru. I was in town visiting and someone mentioned this place on local Reddit. I figured I'd try it out. We ordered the spicy chorizo and egg, and also the mild bacon and egg. I preferred the bacon and egg version- bacon was crispy and the pico was refreshing. The sausage was in cut up link form and was fine but not the texture I was looking for- the red chile for spice was good though. My 5 year old ate the bacon version without the pico and asked that we go back --- so I think that says more than anything I could. read more
