We came here for lunch on a slow weekday. I've been meaning to try this spot and I love the concept of fried chicken, milk teas, and chai! It's fast casual and you'll see some kiosks/tablets to order once you walk in. We made our selection and then didn't have to wait too long before our freshly fried chicken sandos and fries were ready. I ordered a milk tea and a mini cup of chai just because I wanted to try everything. This place has five stars because of how freshly fried the food was. There is nothing better than biting into a fried chicken sandwich and the released steam is almost hazardous. I have a high heat tolerance, and this sort of thing cannot be re-created at home. Alas, we do not have an industrial deep fryer. We also ordered some fried pickles that came with a sauce. It's hard to hate something so delicious when it's deep fried, to be honest. This place has been on my radar for a while, and not disappointed! Burger was amazing, even if the bacon was a bit chewy. Chicken loaded fries were good, but honestly as nice and crunchy as the fries were, I think next time I'll just get the fries alone. Chi sauce is a bit too spicy for me, but nice taste. COOL ME DOWN Pair a refreshing bubble tea with your hot chicken at this new restaurant in Bolingbrook. Nashville hot chicken has become my obsession recently, and I'm excited to formally welcome Chi Tea to the neighborhood. They opened on 6/5/24 in a strip mall near Boughton & Weber Rd. When the previous tenants (Dickey's BBQ Pit) refused to serve pork of any kind, they naturally went out of business which paved the way for Chi Tea to open their doors near Jimmy John's and COVO, a Chipotle-esque Greek spot. The menu here centers around hot chicken served in a variety of ways: sandwich, tenders, nuggets, and topped fries. They also have burgers if you're so inclined, as well as fried pickles and banana pudding for dessert. The 'Big Bird' ($10) isn't a good value, as fries aren't included and the sandwich itself is rather small. I wouldn't recommend it, especially considering that Chik-fil-A is right across the street and you can get a combo meal for the same price. However.... The loaded chicken fries ($7) are delicious and a FANTASTIC value. Although it's a messy affair that'll have you reaching for napkins, you essentially get 2-3 chopped tenders atop a pile of fries, cheese sauce, coleslaw, and their awesome Chi-sauce (a spicy mayo). If you're cool with having everything thrown together, this is the way to go. You can get a bubble tea blended or over ice, in 18 (!) different flavors, including honeydew melon, taro, peach, French vanilla, mango, and something called "Tiger Sugar" which honestly scares me a bit. Add tapioca for 25¢ or jelly/popping boba for 50¢. The Thai iced tea ($5 for a regular) was refreshing but way too sweet for my liking. The standalone seasoned fries ($3.50) were pretty good, a solid 3.5 / 5. I saw not 1, but 2 customers turned away because Chi Tea can't accept cash--they're card only. Bummer man! The inside is surprisingly pretty, with artificial ferns hanging from the ceiling and tasteful yet minimal wall art. The first time I was here, there was no one manning the register (online or kiosk ordering only). On the following visit one guy was taking orders, though using the kiosk was still faster. * TL;DR * Everything was tasty enough and as long as I don't make this a regular lunch stop, I won't go broke (sandwich + fries + milk tea = $20). The flavor of the hot chicken was on-point and the spice level was accurate, although next time I'll dial it up a notch and get their highest heat level. Had the beef loaded fries and the spice gave it a nice kick. Very similar to the Chi Tea classic burger as the sauce and flavors were the same, but was greasy good. The Big Bird I choose mild and it had the perfect heat and it was crispy. The chicken was also bigger than the buns. Love the decor inside. Believe there was a kiosk to place an order, but we went to the counter to place our order. They call your order by your name. Don't think they need to place their logo sticker on the containers as we have to peel it off anyways to open the containers. read more

I was looking forward to trying Chi Tea due to the good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't a good one. I arrived shortly after noon on a Monday. I ordered a lemonade and their popcorn chicken on fries side dish. I opted for the spicy option. The gentleman at the counter was pleasant and efficient, so the service was just fine. The food? Sigh. It was straight up terrible. The chicken pieces were rubbery. The spice level was about as spicy as a McD's Spicy McChicken. More a paprika/pepper spice level. I tried several pieces thinking maybe it was just a couple that didn't turn out. Nope. Awful. The fries were just your average thinner cut fry. They were cooked okay but nothing special. Decent experience the few times I've been here. The hamburgers are good and the chicken sandwich is delicious. I really like their fries, seasoned and/or loaded. The service is what you expect from a typical fast food restaurant. The ambiance at this location is far better than their other location. I like that there are plenty of tables/seats available. The flavors were good, but while eating the fries, I pulled a hair out of my mouth. I looked in the bag and there was another strand of hair stapled to the bag dangling on top of my fries. I was really hoping to try Chi Tea at the Bolingbrook location. I had called to ask the store if they cooked in peanut oil as I have a severe allergy but the person at the front desk didn't know. They said they'd ask the cook and I could hear their conversation. When asked what cooking oil is used to prepare the food, the cook says they don't know. They go back and forth and eventually get back to me and say that they don't know and that they are pretty sure they don't cook with peanut oil. They said that the owner wasn't at the store so they can't confirm which is baffling to me. The person at that answered the phone told me they are new so they aren't familiar with these kinds of request yet, which I don't blame them at all for. But the cook should know ingredients are being used. **disclaimer** I went about a week after they opened, so I may have to update this. The ambiance of the place is very cute, very instagramable, good seating, parking is very easy. Service was fine, wasn't super stellar or terrible at all, quick and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was, for me, just fine. The chicken slider was small (slider) but tasty. It had a sweetness to it I can't describe it, but I requested no honey glaze, so I am unsure what the sweet flavor was; the fries and drink is why I had to rate it down. The fries were very good & crisp, stayed warm in the bag it came in, but there was a heavy hand on the seasoning. The lemonade was sweeeeeeeeet. I went w/ 2 other family members, we got different variations of the lemonade flavors and we all were shocked. We bought 3 bottles of water since they don't have a fountain to cut the sweetness down. Again, disclaimer- I went about a week after they opened, so I may have to update this because it may have been opening kinks or a newer person who worked on the meals figuring this out. Always giving $ tips with orders to go. 1st time I order on their self order screen while being assisted somehow my fries were not added to my order. I return let the server know & figure out what happened and buy them if I wasn't charged. I get fries Manager/owner has me pay because they didn't add the fries. Then I wait another 10mins for fries while my burger is cold waiting in my cold car. then I know he purposely gave me less fries with my order because he's obviously not professional. Are you serious? He was acting like that's the size you get with the order. Lol I used to order here twice a week I know what I order. Discriminated is how I felt. That's not how you treat customers. Incredible food and great ambiance and service. We have so far carried out food once from here and dined in twice and had a great experience each time. The owner, Gawee is super nice and attentive. They get a ton of customers who carry out but not as many dine in - may be because it's away from the busy part of town. Highly recommend folks to try it out - you will fall in love. My server was Zak A, and he was very kind when taking my order. I also had a girl server a while ago who was also very chill and nice. Their food is also amazing! Their burgers are super melty and their fries are really crispy. Their brown sugar milk tea with tapioca is really good too. Their ambiance is also very pretty. It is decorated quite nicely with the flora and lights. The only thing that I would complain about is their chairs aren't particularly comfortable, but you can just take your stuff to go and eat in the car or at home.
