SOUR meat! This place is disgusting and I was actually served sour carne asada that ended up in the trash. I ordered 1 steak burrito and 1 al pastor taco. The burrito was rancid,I thought that maybe my taste buds were off so I let my partner try it and he immediately said "What did you do to this,stop ranking me",Gross steak,and even my 2 bites were full of gristle(see pic),so they use a cheap cut of sour meat. The Al pastor taco had no flavor in the meat,and was also full of chewy parts that were inedible,also ended up in the garbage. We've been coming to El Burrito for years and it's been consistently good. You order at the counter and take a seat if you can find one. It gets pretty busy at lunchtime. The restaurant itself is no frills, with mostly booth seating. The menu is in the wall and they offer everything you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant. The Al pastor is awesome and my husband raves about the steak. My daughter loves the salsas and soaks her food in the red. For $18 I got nachos and a picadillo burrito. Both were large and very good. I took the burrito home for the next day; I ate most of the nachos there because they're best hot out of the oven, and I ate the rest of them when I got home, adding white onion, green salsa, and sour cream - making the leftovers sort of like chilaquiles since the chips get soft by the time you get them home. The nachos were made with a melted white cheese - maybe Chihuahua - and there was plenty of that as well as plenty of refried beans and tomato, and a smallish amount of sour cream and guacamole. I asked for lettuce and was given a large amount of it - perfect. The burrito was mostly meat so at home I added lettuce, tomato, white onion, avocado, jalapeño, and sour cream. Compared to other restaurants of all types, this was the single best value I've had in recent times - terrific food at a terrific price! read more

This is my go-to Mexican restaurant for Lisle, IL. My typical order: *Tortas - pastor, no sour cream *Burrito - ground beef The portions are generous and the food is flavorful. Also I appreciate that the food isn't too spicy, but the sauces (which can be added as-desired) are spicy. Green seemed the spiciest and red was mild. If you dine-in, then you get free chips and salsa. The staff is friendly and it seemed family-owned/operated. We did takeout though my interactions with the staff made me wish we had dined-in. This place is a dive. (Some might call it a dump.) cramped with no ambience. I don't think I would dine in unless I was drunk. But their burritos are thethe bomb. They' make the BEST burritos for miles and miles!!! I highly recommend this place for take out. You won't do better anywhere in the Naperville area. And don't be confused. The restaurant a block away with an almost identical name is a nicer place to sit down and eat, but their food doesn't hold a candle to this place. read more

My wife and I used to go to ElBurrito about once per week to eat inside. The food was always good until on June 26 when our tostadas arrived at the table and all four smelled horrible. One taste and we confirmed the hard tostada shells had been fried in rancid oil. How the cooks didn't already know that by the sheer stink is beyond me. We handed the shells to both the cashier and to the two cooks who all smelled them, agreed, and then simply shrugged their shoulders. No apology, no making it right, and no refunds. It's now been three months later and neither of us have been back, nor do we intend to ever return. Mi esposa y yo solíamos ir a ElBurrito aproximadamente una vez a la semana para comer adentro. What a Freaking great burrito! I've had several recommendations to try this burrito which I finally did! Sooooooooo goooooood!!!! Just order the Steak Giant Burrito with everything you will be fine! The location, decor and ambience lead a lot to be desired, but for a take out order, this place is fantastic! My only problem is that the Giant Burrito isn't really that big for me. Maybe I ordered the regular size but I will make sure it's the Giant size when I order again next week! Free parking in the lot, decent service from the staff, and plenty of tables for seating. I've been going to El Burrito for over 35 years. I've had problems with mistakes in my order for at least a year. My last 3 orders were either incorrect or forgotten items! Tonight, I placed an order for 3 tacos and multiple sides and salsas. When I got home, I discovered I was missing 3 items. When I called them, I requested my tacos be remade since they'd be cold by the time I picked up my missing items. They did that. I picked up my order, and when I opened my tacos, they made them incorrectly. When I called them back, the woman said I changed my order, which is absurd! She argued with me, and I finally hung up. Very unassuming from the outside and clean but doesn't look like much while inside, but WOW the food is delicious! The menu seems very authentic, not totally Americanized like many places. Order at the counter and the food was brought to our table in less than five minutes. The chips and salsa were good and seem fresh. We had one steak burrito, one chicken burrito, and two tacos. The steak burrito was the most delicious of all. I thought most of the prices seemed reasonable. The guac was a little expensive, but not unusual for the area. Don't come here expecting anything fancy, but come here if you want tasty, fairly authentic food. I would definitely come back. read more

Food was pretty good a bit greasy but good. The chicken quesadillas had good flavor but feel for the price should of came with more then just lettuce and tomato. The steak tacos and Steak burrito was way to greasy and the meat had tons of fat pieces, tomales was okay way to much dough not enough filling, Al pastal tacos definitely wasn't a go to at this place. I'm very picky about my Mexican food. And I was very surprised to find this little gem in a strip mall in the middle of Lisle. The food is delicious! Authentic Mexican food. None of that tex-mex you unfortunately see everywhere these days.Pretty much no matter what you get, you're going to be happy with it. I love the tacos and quesadillas myself. A friend of mine has tried the chalupa and loved that. I've tried cecina for the first time and enjoyed that as well. Their guacamole was a bit mushy as if the avocados were old, but I'd still give it a 3.5 out of 5. Their horchata is delicious. If you go in, you're bound to get exactly what you want, and you can either enjoy it at one of their booths or take it home. It's a small place, a bit of a hole in the wall, but clean. I would not do Uber Eats with them. I had a bad experience. The woman from El Burrito Mexicano was extraordinarily rude. Come to think of it, she's very rude when you go in and order as well. But this time, I told her something was missing, and she told me no, I know I put it in there, you need to call Uber Eats because I know it's in there. When I already went through every single thing in the bags and it was missing. Suffice it to say I did not get a refund or even an apology and we all had to put in some so that one of the children could eat. I believe I had been to this place like way back in the day. Probably before yelp even existed. Well, I happen to be in the area visiting a tennis shop and re-discovered this place through yelp. Brought back a few memories. This was one of those burrito places that has been around from the time before burrito places was trendy. Way before the Chipotle wave, etc. Well, the burritos were great. I think the key was the flavor of the beans. That was my favorite part. The rest of it all was good as well. I think the only thing I would raise as a question was the lady taking the order - she was not very pleasant. The interior could also use a bit of a refresh.
