Helpful and thoughtful folks during a sad time…read more With the passing of my mother, I needed someone local and fast as her health declined very quickly from an expected cacophony of failures relating to previous strokes and heart attacks. It definitely helped that this funeral home is less than a mile away from my mother's home. My mother passed early in the morning, so our family had a few hours to spend with her to get the last words from both sides. It was no surprise, but the arrangements had been loosely cobbled together from a short-list of requirements my mother left us. The funeral home showed up as promised, and took her away around 2am, and the following day we visited to finish the arrangements. The representative handled our situation very calmly and with respect to my mother and her wishes, which were very simple and direct. We met no sales pitch, and no pressure from the rep. and we made our choices quickly based on the guidelines set. I would recommend this funeral home for anyone with similar situations in the area.

BUT--there was no greeter at the door to direct me; there was no card on the directional board at the front to direct me; there was no room with open doors to indicate that it was the right room. In short, I wondered through the entire public area of the facility looking for the visitation that was supposed to be in progress. Or looking for ANYONE. Just when I was sure I'd come to the wrong place or had the wrong day, I came across a woman (who did not give her name) in a sort of storage-looking room; and when I asked where the visitation was, she asked, "Which one?" (Uh. . . the only one that's taking place at this time?) She finally went into what appeared to be the office and looked it up on their computer. So. . . the only person there did not know where the only event taking place was being held. She led me to one of the closed-door rooms, and opened the doors, where I found the group I was seeking. Then she shut the doors behind me. Even if Wages is not the kind of top-quality place that has a greeter, how much trouble would it be to have a 3x5 card with the name of the room on the directional board? How much trouble would it be to have the doors of the room open? So, I was impressed by the appearance but not by the conduct, and would never consider Wages for a family member or for a pre-planned, pre-paid funeral for myself.

They were attentive and respected our requests, clean, brightly lit, spacious. They also were knowledgeable in Buddhist rituals and ceremonies. They were prompt with our inquiry and listed everything out needed in detail. Literally a one stop shop. We were able to select a casket, flowers for casket, set up for the rituals; they also have urns and processes death certificates. The room we used had a breakroom, coffee makers, anything we needed. Plenty of seating were provided. We're glad we went with Wages. Everything was handled with great care.
