As often happens with older homes, surprises came up: our original 1964 gas and electrical lines were corroded and had to be replaced. While we were at it, we upgraded our equipment to a top-of-the-line Jandy system with Wi-Fi controls, plus added a heater and automatic pool filler. A few months later there where signs of Algae, and I was told this is normal at this time of the year and a special treatment is necessary that would cost me hundreds of dollars. The straight up lies and being treated like an idiot are unbelievable. If your chemistry is done right, there will never be an algae build up and no special treatment is necessary. I have since then hired a professional company and I realize I had forgotten how gorgeous the water can look like.
