We only had 45 minutes to shop which was not enough time to check out everything, but with the guidance of the friendly, knowledgeable owner, we spent our time well. We selected fidgets for her, presents for her cousins as well as several games to bring on our annual family vacation in Narragansett, RI. It was great to be able to ask the store owner about items and get informed responses. It was much better than shopping online and searching for questionable product reviews. When I first walked, in, I thought it was mostly for kids, but as I strolled around, I was amazed in a good way at the inventory here, including an assortment of smaller games (card, dice, social, party, etc), "grumpy old people" themed socks, a variety of interesting books, and more. There's a lot of things here which I don't necessarily need but are still calling out for some of my discretionary income. I have quite a few friends who would also definitely enjoy coming here when they visit me.

I have a sinking feeling that is what is happening with toys too. There are things the Toy Maker carries that you cannot find in Walmart. Small production toys, Thomas the Tank Engine Wooden Railway, Playmobil, etc. That is what this store is good for. Do not make the same mistake my son made, spending the allowance he saved on a $10 pack of Uno cards that we later found at Walmart for under $5. Unless of course you are happy to spend the extra money to keep these kinds of stores in business. The kiddo learned a valuable lesson: Let the buyer beware.

Maybe it's because I haven't been inside an Anthro since before COVID, but I was really shocked at how much the prices have increased. This store was always pricey but now it's borderline insane. $36 for a hair clip?! And clearance hair clips for $27? You might want to take a beat and check out a more reasonably priced option like Target or TJ Maxx before you drop your hard earned cash here. I used to occasionally buy jewelry and items for the home at Anthro but not sure I'll be actually shopping here now. It's fun to browse for the aesthetic and they do have a clearance section way in the back which was super packed with folks when I visited. At these prices seems everyone wants a deal! What stood out most to me was the difference in tone and attentiveness shown to other customers compared to my interaction. I enjoyed browsing here and even tried in some tops and dresses but was surprised that a lot of the styles were very oversized. I normally wear a L or XL in tops but everything here that was L or XL was too big on me. The Ms were nowhere to be found and I tried on a sweatshirt in a small that surprisingly fit but looked awkward from the side. So, it was a miss for me this time but I'll definitely come back here. Just one person was working in the store which was inconvenient in that she could not both cash people out and check folks into the locked dressing rooms.
