I wrote a previous review about this shop, but I took it down because it does not do justice to the service I have since received at this shop. The one thing I have to say about this place that is actually negative is that the tattooer named Jake is not very reliable and his work is disappointing. I had been in contact with him for two weeks before my appointment to get a custom piece in September of 2017. He said he had the artwork drafted, but he had nothing ready to go for my appointment and I must have been in the shop for 2 hours before I even got to sit in the chair. The tattoo healed poorly and it ended up looking awful. However, I do still love this shop because the owner, Lloyd is a great man who is talented, funny, and goes above and beyond to make sure all of his customers are happy. When I posted my first review and pictures of the bad tattoo, Lloyd reached out to me and insisted that I come in to have him cover it up, free of charge. We communicated for about a week and a half before my appointment to make sure we were both on the same page, and he took great care of me when I actually came in to get my cover-up. I am incredibly happy with how it looks and Lloyd has made it very clear that I should keep in touch as it finishes healing to ensure that we can touch it up if it needs it. I would highly recommend this studio (especially if you can get Lloyd), even if it is just for a small Friday the 13th tattoo. read more

I had a tattoo done at Gypsy Rose Tattoo 4 years ago and it was time to get a touch-up when I was in town. I scheduled an appointment for around Thanksgiving and was told that the owner (Lloyd) would do the touch-up. He worked on my tattoo for about 40 minutes, even correcting one bit that I thought the original artist didn't do well at. I am very happy with the work he did and would recommend the place. I "requested a quote" on Yelp for the particular tattoo that I wanted, which was a simple mountain tattoo, and received a response immediately by the owner. I was quoted a reasonable price. I looked up other tattoos that they have done on Yelp and Instagram. I liked their style and work, so I thought I'd give it a go. My tattoo artist was super friendly and professional. I've been contemplating to review this place. I got a few tattoos from Lloyed (all the same day) very nice gentleman, but my art wasn't. I'm very unsatisfied with his work and his hand was so heavy, I've gotten tattooed before so I can say his hand was heavy on the art. My tattoo outline leaked out of the outline and not to mention he stated that all his tattoos need to have the black outline because the color will "leak without an outline or break" can't remember verbatim but basically it happened with the lady bugs he tatted. Mind you I was asking for tattoos without the black outline as I do have some without it which never leaked! (Ironically) I wouldn't let him tattoo me again. I'll have to find a good artist to fix my tattoos. He also had a visitor that day in the shop and Took his lovely time chit chatting away in the room While I was getting tatted and mind you one of my tattoos was in my side and a little behind my thigh and I had to laid down side ways to get tatted and not once did he ask me if I was ok for his friend to be there while I laid there with my dress up trying cover myself as much as possible since his visitor was sitting right behind me talking away which had me in a uncomfortable situation. Yes I did have a cover over me but I was exposed where I was getting tatted. read more

So this is a hard review to write. I have a one star because of my experience but overall the work here is good. I work with LLOYD ( the owner, which the issue is with) and Nadia. Nadia did my ribs and is absolutely amazing. Lloyd did my right arm and left forearm. This is where the issue is. As many who know Lloyd will read this comment and say " yep, that's Lloyd" or " sounds about right" Well during my right arm Lloyd is tattooing doing his thing. And we talk, but we talk like men who have known each other for years. Cussing, brought up women. Talked about money. His bad back. Ect. Anyone who has had work with knows he kind of makes you feel welcomed like that. As i did. He didn't wake up for the second appointment and was Over an hour late. He called me on the phone to apologize and we both gave each other some friendly shit over the phone. He got there. Work done. Work was great. I then set appointments for Monday with Nadia and Wednesday with Lloyd. Sunday afternoon I get a text from one of his girls Angie. Nadia has emergency she can't make it. Happens I get it. Asks when would I like to reschedule, I asked. When is she free next week? She then replied "we don't know when she will be back." So I asked, "why ask me to pick a day next week if you don't know when she is coming back" very logical no? But I could see maybe. She doesn't know me. This guys kind of a dick. If it was this comment, I later apologized in the same thread for said comment and I quote "Also sorry for the last text. That sort of came of a dickish. Just let me know about Nadia and I hope all is well. I'll be there Wednesday. Thank you again. " So I don't know. I also in the same thread double checked to make sure I was good with lloyd. I did say " I don't want to hear him bitch about his back". If this is where it was, I could understand. But the thing is I don't know. I showed up for my 4:30 appointment today and Lloyd pull me out front and started coming at me like " I don't know where you get off talking to people here like that. But I'm not going to tat you" Then walked away. I didn't get a chance to know what was said, where I overstepped. I didn't get a chance to explain anything. Lloyd talks the way he talks and I am okay with that. I even agreed on some stages. But I am not okay with is being talked to like a child, being denied service because I was disrespectful. I don't even know what I did. Lloyd can make sexual passes and the friend I bring with, but I can't tell him to not whine about his back? The double sided sword and one way street is why I give a one star. If no star was an option I would be giving it. I have attempted to reach out to know where i was disrespectful, but have had no answers back. So again you denied someone for reasons you did not back up, or for reason you yourself have shown towards customers and your own employees. read more

Came here for a Friday the 13th tattoo, a very spontaneous trip to a tattoo shop as I am still fairly new to this state. Found this place on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try. I stalked them on Instagram of course before I came here lol. And I was impressed at some of the work I saw. When I got here the line wasn't too long, I was impressed at their flash sheet the tattoos where pretty good in size for the 20$ charge. Customer service is great they seemed to have a good system going on since it was busy! Staff is super friendly with an edge obviously it is a tattoo shop lol. I followed Lexy to Gypsy Rose when she left Golden Rule. I get tattooed by her at least once a month, and every experience has been awesome. I didn't know anything about Gypsy Rose before she moved there, but it's a great shop. Everyone that works there is super friendly and skilled. I probably have a couple of dozen hours of needle time with Lexy, and she never fails to make sure I'm good with the process start to finish. She's honest with her time, her feedback, and has great ideas to incorporate into what you want. She's light handed, does awesome shave jobs, and gives awesome tattoo rub downs after your tattoo is finished. I have recommended her to everyone I know. If you read and can comprehend the review by "Samy M." you shouldn't take it seriously. He seems like a very sensitive soul searching for his place in the world, and it definitely does not reflect on the professionalism, work, or "hutzpah" [sic] of anyone at the shop. Also, if you write a 1-star Yelp review complaining that you had to wait for your $13 Friday the 13th tattoo you're a nitwit. Bottom line: Gypsy Rose is a solid shop, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lexy or any of the artists there to any of my friends or family. read more

Being from New Jersey I'm used to a certain kind of greeting and attitude that can be unwelcoming. The experience at Gypsy Rose Tattoo was completely opposite of what I'm used to. From the second i walked i can tell this is a shop that is not only great at what they do but they are friendly and welcoming. My gf and i were leaving the next day and wanted to get tattoos in Arizona to give us something to remember from our trip. They managed to squeeze us in which i appreciated since we just walked in. Our artist was Brian and he went beyond what was expected. He stayed late to finish our two tattoos. His work is impeccable and i couldn't ask for better. Was the quickest, least painful and overall best experience I've had at a tattoo shop. If you're ever in Arizona just do yourself the favor and go to Gypsy Rose Tattoo. Not only is Mike's work super clean, gorgeous, and his own, he is a great guy. He is quick, (in the best way possible) creates great conversation, and really cares about what you want in your tattoo. I really wanted to love this shop. I was following them on IG for months beforehand, trying to decide which artist I liked more. I did a walk-in tattoo in March and I loved it. Tad was quiet but got the job done and did a great job. My recent experience turned me off completely. I got a flash tattoo by Lindsey. I wanted a few things changed on the flash, not a big deal. She did it, it looked great. She starts tattooing and I'm not happy with it. Now maybe this is my own fault because I have a hard time telling people how I feel but when I tried to ask what we could do differently, she snapped at me. And at the end when I told her I was unhappy, she said that she had other customers to tend to now. I paid almost 150 for a flash with colors that I wasn't happy with. Definitely would not recommend her as an artist. read more

We stopped in on the annual Friday the 13th $13 Tattoo day, and while I was happy with the results from Lloyd, I was just as impressed with the service, friendliness and professionalism of the other employees--particularly the assistant who was taking forms and keeping everything in order while the place filled up like gangbusters. I came in for a larger, more serious piece by Lloyd a few weeks later. He fit me into his schedule and drew a clean, impressive piece right in front of me. I couldn't be more excited with the execution. I've seen some of the work of the other tattoo artists and it's just as impressive. The location is right off the freeway and centrally located in the Metro area. The price was more than reasonable, the service was consistently some of the best I've had in a tattoo parlor, and everything was clean and professional. Three weeks ago I went in and talked to Lloyd about my idea for a tattoo. Gave him 40 to set an appointment and he said I should have a draft of the art by the end of the week. Two weeks later I sent one email asking when he thought I could see a draft to which he replied "you'll probably see it on Saturday" (the day of the appointment) So why the jerk response? And I lose my 40 when he didn't uphold his end of the bargain? I'm not here to bash local businesses but it's a wonder some people can stay in business with service and attitude like that. read more
