I crave gyros more than I should. Is that such a thing? What's not to love about well-seasoned meat, fresh vegetables, and a cool, creamy yogurt sauce? So when I saw Gyro Gods in my search results, I knew a visit was in order, despite the distance and road construction. The restaurant is relatively new, but the parking lot has seen better days. Although I'm not a high-tops person, I like the seating options: a long counter for grabbing a quick bite and the larger tables for spending time with friends. The ordering line is toward the back, facing refrigerator cases filled with soft drinks and shelves of snacks. I always enjoy trying a bit of everything, which is what I found here. The gyro pita was grilled for extra crispiness and filled with lamb/beef, tomatoes, onions, fries, and tzatziki sauce. Chicken, chevapi, and veggie are other sandwich options. The lamb/ beef filling was flavorful and plentiful. I ordered Greek fries, even though some came in the sandwich, and I am so glad that I did. The fries were topped with tzatziki sauce, crumbled feta, olive oil, and oregano. Fantastic. I liked that the hot fries complemented the coolness of the tzatziki sauce. It might be better served separately so the contrast in flavors is more pronounced; the sauce warmed up from the fries after a while. The bougasta was also delicious. Served hot, I enjoyed the creamy custard encased in flaky pastry, and liberally topped with cinnamon and powdered sugar. I was too full even to sample the small tzatziki, served with a griddled pita. Oh, well, more for a midnight snack. The order taker/food preparer/server was friendly and answered all my questions. I was in the area and was looking for lunch, I remembered seeing something about Gyro God's, so I stopped in for lunch. The place has a nice clean dining area. I went to the counter to order, I noticed signage with l unch specials. I decided on the gyro, with fries and drink combo which was a little over $14. I went with the pork gyro (you have a choice of pork, beef/lamb, or chicken), I paid extra to make the fries, feta fries. The fries are coated fries, topped with feta, Tzatziki, a drizzle of olive oil and oregano, they were pretty tasty. The gyro was so fresh and juicy, loaded with pork, fries, tomatoes, onions and Tzatziki, the best gyro that I've had in a long time. I liked that you could see the fyro spits and the cook carving it fresh for your sandwich, in plain sight. There were lots of other things on the menu that I want to try in the future. They serve Burek (spinach, cheese or meat). I also saw there was make a make your own bowl, start with salad or rice, etc...then build it how you would like. Sounds interesting. Mine and my husbands favorite gyro place! We've been to a few in metro Detroit and after coming to this one we didn't want to go anywhere else. They taste so amazing it couldn't get any better! We get ours without mustard and ketchup. The meat is flavorful and tender, fries are perfect and an addition we didn't know could be so good on a gyro. They have fresh ingredients! I ordered in store, the service was phenomenal and the atmosphere was clean had the best aroma! The woman and her father were very informative and warm in my experience. She let me try some samples and good lord I was sold lol. I Love Greek/Mediterranean dishes and this is by far one of the best spots in the metro Detroit area I've come by. The Greek fries were so flavorful and not soggy from the toppings, the gyro was tender, flavorful and filled with the fixings throughout and the Börek which she did recommend this was my first time trying and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! So flakey, filled with spinach and cheese and just had such a simple yet delicious flavoring. I got full pretty fast but best believe I went back to finish. Only thing I wish I had gotten was a Greek salad to try as well but I will be returning! The workers were very friendly and the food was delicious. The environment was clean. I purchased the gyro ( beef/land) with fries on the side. Genuinely such good food. I love the chicken gyro with the French fries on it- so yummy! The prices are a bit higher but honestly, you can tell the quality of the food is there which makes it worth it. Dined in during their slower time and they were awesome to chat with and they were quick! They brought the food to our table and it was clean and they had everything we needed. Can't recommend this place enough!! My family and I are spending the 4th in Gaylord, but we stopped here on the way from the Detroit airport. We ate in and service was great and fast, not too busy so they brought us our food and even picked up our trash as we ate. Very genuine and authentic people. This is one of the gyros I've ever had, and we also tried the tzatziki fries. Meat was juicy, pita bread soft and fluffy, and the yummiest side veggies. They also have a wide assortment of classic Greek/European drinks and a few cookies/sweets. The inside was clean, didn't smell like fried food, and has nice seating +decor. First time trying Gyro Gods today and, holy smokes, was it good!!!! Between all of us we tried all 3 gyro flavors (beef/lamb, pork, and chicken). The chicken gyro was our favorite. My daughter cannot stop talking about the Greek fries. The spinach byrek was so light and flaky--some of the best I've ever had. I'd come back for that alone. We definitely plan on returning!! I regret not taking a picture of my gyro that would capture the overflowing lamb. The gyro was great, veggies crisp, flavors combined well and the tzatziki very refreshing and light. My only feedback is to thin out the sauce a bit to make it less of a dip and more of a sauce but at this point, nitpicking. Great stuff and good flavors. Will comeback. read more

New place that took the spot of Lefty's Cheesesteaks. Vey clean. Greeted with a hello when we walked in. Quite a variety of meal choices including bowls. Gyro meat comes as pork, chicken, and the standard lamb/beef. Bowls are build your own. 4 or 5 salad choices. Lots of drink choices are in coolers. Snacks along the wall including Greek chips. My wife got the bowl with lamb, olives, beets, rice, cucumbers, and cabbage slaw. I got the lamb gyro but with the fries on the side. Cannot imagine a gyro with fries on it. We both said the same thing about our meals... the lamb is very dry. I am glad I got my fries on the side as it would have made my gyro even tougher to swallow. The fries are actually pretty good. Cabbage slaw, rice, beets, olives, cucumbers all very good. They had a menu item called a Byrek that I have never heard of before. Sort of a meat or cheese filled pastry. I think I would be willing to go back for one of those but we will stick with Simply Fresh in Plymouth for our gyro fix. Hope this place does well but it is in a tough location. read more

Wow! The food was amazing. The service was excellent. The restaurant was exceptionally clean. It was our first time there, but it certainly won't be our last.
