I was in the area and craved chicken shawarma. I stopped in and was nicely greeted. I was asked what protein I wanted and if I wanted it over rice or fries. I ordered the mixed shawarma over rice with pickled veggies, lettuce, and Arabic salad. It was then covered in white sauce. I grabbed a mango lassi from the soda fridge. The prices were reasonable. The portions were really generous, so we could hardly finish and took some food home. Service was very friendly and attentive. We got some advice on Pakistani cuisine dishes and suggested choice was truly delicious. The place seems to be take-out oriented as the interior is unremarkable and the food is served on plastic plates and in take-out containers. It doesn't affect food quality in any way, but just something to keep in mind. We highly recommend Gyro King and Grill of East Windsor if you are in the area and looking for delicious kebabs and shawarma. Appetizers - all tasted fresh and flavorful Hummus - very smooth and nicely complimented by olive oil and olives. I liked that it wasn't sour like it's often done in US. Babaganoush - excellent. I might actually like this better than the nearby Halal guys...! I liked the way they seasoned their veggies and they had good portions. Their shawarma was flavorful, but I think I might just do the lamb next time because of the mix I got I actually liked the lamb better (I got the platter & it was tasty)! :) It's a clean and has unique decor. The staff and owner are very helpful in making sure we were doing well. I got the chicken gyro and wow it was delicious!! seriously. so. good. might be the best gyro I've had. service was very fast and friendly. on a Tuesday at 7 there was barely anyone there. very casual place. Will definitely come back. no doubt. the only thing I'd recommend is that they put the menu on a normal board rather than a screen with rotating images. as a new customer I don't know the menu and would like to see the whole thing. kinda tough to do with things flashing back and forth. updating this after my second trip. still five stars. tried the chicken gyro and the mix schwarma sandwich/wrap this time. if you want more bang for your buck, get the schwarma sandwich. it's like double the size of the gyro. I initially learned of Gyro King via my hungry teenage sons who frequently dine there and rave about the food. Hosting a small dinner party, we wanted Mediterranean/Indian cuisine, and decided to order off Gyro King's catering menu. We enjoyed a platter with chicken, lamb, rice - and side dishes of samosas, garlic naan, and an array of delicious sauces. The quality of the food (temperature, taste, texture, aroma) was outstanding. Our guests loved the food! Owner/operator Shafi is a high-energy, hands on manager who took his time in helping us craft the perfect order, allowing us to sample the food. He telephoned us when the food was ready and even helped carry the platters to our car! The day after, he called to make sure that we were totally satisfied. New Jersey needs more outgoing entrepreneurs like Shafi! Five-stars all the way. We look forward to our next dining experience with Gyro King! read more

Gyro King's business continues to thrive with foot traffic for pickup orders, since it opened over a year ago during Covid. This is our second time eating here. My previous feelings on the food stand, because similar to last time, one entree was really good and the other was meh.  But, I'm a tough critic for this type of food, since there are a few establishments that I enjoy and frequent in the area.  I'll round up to a 4 from my 3.5 impression on the food, because the service was pleasant, prices are very good, and the interior was immaculate.   We went with the Chicken Chapli Kebab (had this last time) and the Chicken Malai with Naan. Chicken Gyro Platter.  The Chicken Chapli was great, spicy and flavorful and will probably be our go-to when we order from here again.  I was expecting more from the Chicken Malai. It was similar to my Chicken Gyro Platter experience from last time. It bit bland, but that maybe fine for some people.  The accompanying Naan is good! read more

Five stars. Stopped here on my way up to Edison, NJ. I walked up to the counter and asked them what they recommend getting. They asked what protein I wanted and they said they'd recommend the platter that comes with veggies, rice, and sauce. I got served in less than five minutes. The chicken is JUICY and melts in your mouth. You like spicy? Drizzle the red sauce on top. But beware, the charred jalapeño is SPICY and will take you a moment to recover from the heat. The rice and salad helps cool you down. Don't forget to also drizzle some white sauce on top. Now I'm sad I won't be able to regularly experience this but if you're reading this then look no further and eat here! read more

I loved some of the unique sides offered here, particularly the pickled vegetables (cabbage, peppers, etc). I would highly recommend having these with your platters because the tangy vinegar is refreshing and cuts through a lot of the inherent greasiness of the food. Some of the bites were truly fabulous. I remember the Bihari kabob being pretty solid. However, I can't give a higher rating because the taste was inconsistent. The falafel was too chewy and tough for my liking, not as fluffy as should be. The chicken also did not taste fresh. However, if you're feeling the itch for a chicken over rice, then there's no place better in East Windsor! I think the food was very well priced for the amount you get. I have a good kebab place nearby, 2 actually. I didn't really need to travel this far for this type of meal. But I liked the sound of the Supreme combo on their menu. On one plate I could sample both gyro meats, falafel and chicken kabob as well as rice and salads. I decided to try a small humus and the garlic naan too. My order was packed and ready when I arrived and I was in and out in a minute. Not even enough time to really check the casual dining spot out. But enough time to see that it's very clean and well kept up. As I drove home the garlic naan taunted me. It smelled like a fresh pizza and I had high hopes for the rest of the meal. I was not disappointed. The container was loaded with food. The lamb gyro meat was tender and tasty, the chicken was as well and my personal fav. The chicken kabob( tikka?)was a thin version but very good. I'd want to try the 2 other options I noticed on the menu on my next visit. The small falafel were very good too, I used the plain naan and salad and had them as they are usually served. The rice was much better than my local spot. There is sautéed green pepper mixed in and the rice itself seems flavored with a light curry spice. With the gyro meats mixed in this was like a middle eastern fried rice. The salad was mainly iceberg lettuce but next to that was a big serving of fresh tomato and on top of everything was lightly pickled onions. Next time I'll skip the lettuce and try one of the cucumber based salads. The plain naan which comes with the humus was ok, the garlic however was very good. The humus was very good too, maybe a yogurt or cheese whipped into it making it more light and creamy. This small size is at least 16oz so more than enough for most orders. I'm very close to awarding the 5 star here but I'll wait until another visit. But this is now my fav Middle Eastern dining choice. With very reasonable prices the drive here will not be a problem. Finally nice to see a gyro grill in this area. We dined in here after Friday prayers at Mcgp which is just a few mins away! I ordered a lamb gyro platter w fries & my husband got the chicken Adana roll. Can I just say it's been a really long time since I've had a gyro platter this good! The lamb was tender and juicy and the rice were cooked & seasoned well. I loved the pickled onions and salad that came along with this. My husband enjoyed his Adana roll- it was the perfect level of spice. We tried the ras malai for dessert and enjoyed it. The malai was actually thick & traditional like it should be and not thin.
