East Windsor Deli has been in the same unassuming spot off Old Trenton Road for many years. It's one of those places that can easily be missed or neglected until one day you randomly pop in. They seem to have a regular customer base without any sort of promotion and despite not having a website. There are plenty of parking spaces and an ample no frills interior with tables at which to eat or wait while food is being prepared. There's a coffee station and plenty of delicatessen staples including snack cakes, chips, ice cream, and drinks, in addition to a regular menu board of food. It seems they serve breakfast too, but some of the items were crossed off on the menu boards. We went with a turkey and chicken parmigiana sandwich (both $7.99 plus tax), which took a good 8-10 minutes to prepare. The turkey sandwich (4.5/5) was prepared on rye bread as requested with plenty of freshly sliced turkey breast and all the fixings. The chicken parmigiana sandwich (3/5) was decent...the fresh roll was good, but both chicken and cheese being average, and tomato sauce being sub-par and not very flavorful. I'm glad I asked for sauce on the side, since I probably would have given the sandwich a lower rating if they had it prepared with the sauce generously layered on already. Portion sizes of both sandwiches were generous and definitely enough to fill you up for lunch. Counter service was friendly, and the gentleman at the counter was nice enough to thank me and wish me a nice day (I appreciate those little kind gestures as they go a long way in the name of customer service). While it's not a fancy operation that wow'ed me, East Windsor Deli fit the bill perfectly for a freshly prepared lunch from a small local business.

East Windsor Deli on Edinburg Road in the municipality of the same name (not Trenton), looks like a fairly new establishment, with standard deli fare and reasonable prices. The owners run the place, and are friendly and efficient. The house has tables are chairs for eating in, but take out appears to be the name of the game. There is only one sign in front, which can be missed when driving east. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on rye to go. When I reached my office, I opened the wrapper to find a larger than expected lunch. There was plenty to eat, although with lettuce and tomato (not requested), the bread had become somewhat damp, and did not hold together until the end of the meal. It would have been helpful to have a fork or spoon to clean up the fallout, but fingers would have to do. Otherwise, the taste was fine, but I wasn't certain they made the salad in house, or bought it from their purveyor. It wasn't exciting, nor memorable, but was certainly decent enough to warrant a return visit when in the hood.

A quality quick breakfast spot! We stopped by for a couple breakfast sandwiches to go before a hike. I got a garlic bagel (they were out of everything bagels) with sausage, egg, and ketchup. Boyfriend got a croissant with sausage egg and cheese. We were both happy with the value for what we paid - $8 for two huge sandwiches! They were a little messy so we ended up not being able to eat them in the car but they were so hot and fresh I'm glad we got to enjoy them sooner rather than later. A toothpick to hold the sandwiches together might have helped but that doesnt change the fact that it was delicious. The menu at this place had many cheap options including breakfast platters - I definitely want to come back for those!

The food here is insanely fresh as was our daily interpretation involving copious use of root vegetables. In a Woodstock mood, I went for a mushroom motif inclusive of a mushroom onion soup and mushroom infused homemade cavatelli. You won't get points for atmosphere as the location is main street central and directly across from an Irish pub that is still serving the same slab of corned beef that they first boiled in 1991. If you're a foodie or even a fraudie, 12 Farms offers infinite pleasures and is richly deserving of a resounding five stars. Speaking of rich bring lots of cash as plastic is not accepted.

The soup sampling consisted of three very tiny cups that were sort of like an espresso size cup. The salad was a very small portion. They said that the portion sizes were not smaller because of the $65 price fix option. If you ordered the salads à la carte they arranged from $19-$22 I believe. Had I did the à la cart and received that portion for that much money I would be disappointed to say the least; my wife and I often share a salad before entrées and generally speaking they are big enough to share but their portion wasn't enough for me alone. Presentation was beautiful and service was great, as well as the ambience, and we have been there several times. We are raying a 3 because of the positives, but I did consider making it a 2. I hope the restaurant takes note and addresses the piints I made. Note that the entrée portions were good.

"This looks like a place I would come as a drunk college kid," my husband mused when we first stepped inside. True to his observations, the menu is rife with the kinds of deep fried goodies and artery-clogging sandwiches that are best meant for youthful bodies with optimal metabolism. We ordered a fun variety for ourselves - a meatball parm, a pound of buffalo wings, an order of curly fries, and - to balance things out - the harvest salad. For those ordering sandwiches, know that they're enormous. A half order is an 11" deal, while the whole is a Brobdingnagian 22". Our half sandwich was great, and definitely more than enough for us to share. We had few notes on anything we ordered. The curly fries were hot and crispy, the buffalo wings hot and tangy, and the meatball parm was just as expected. I was particularly surprised by the salad, which was just supposed to be a fresh and green counterpart to all the heavier foods. I would have been happy enough with some greens and a vinaigrette, but we had a pretty robust salad with blue cheese, chicken, and pieces of diced apple. I never would've expected to find a good salad at a place like this one, but there you go. There are a few high tables and stools, but little else by way of ambiance. Clearly, the focus here is to eat and clear out. That said, service at the counter was incredibly warm and friendly. As far as parking goes, there are a few spots out front and even a few more behind the building. I struggled with the number of stars here, because this isn't highbrow or fine dining. If that's what you're after, I'd definitely look elsewhere. But it's predictable, freshly prepared, and therefore perfect for a college town. If that's what you're expecting, this is your four-star spot.
