    Lamb over Rice
    Peter C.

Looking for an amazing halal spot? Look no further. You have found it. This is my favorite halal food spot and it is better than Halal Guys Unlike the other guys, their meat is not dry but juicy and full of flavor. You really cannot go wrong I've only ordered chicken or lamb over rice or both When you come in, let them know what you want and they'll scoop some rice and they have a salad bar where you can pick what greens you want. I definitely recommend the salad, cucumbers, jalapeño, and chick peas. Can't go wrong with those. They also do have olives for those people who like that. After that, they load your platter with meat and then comes my favorite part. The sauce I ALWAYS get extra white sauce because there has to be some crack in it. In addition to that, I will also get the green sauce for a little spice. If you find yourself in the area, definitely come by If you pay cash, there's no tax

Let me say that I totally overate today because this gyro was so delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. There was a lot of sauce, which I loved. Now let's talk about my dessert. I ordered baklava and it was equally good. I have been eating two every hour and I'm sure I'll finish all of these before dinner. I bought a lassi drink to try it out. It's a yogurt based drink. This one had mango added. It was just okay. I probably would not order it again. I highly recommend the gyros and the baklava.

Great food at a great price. Had lamb and rice here and the portion was very large for just $7. The lamb was delicious! So was the rice. There was a whole salad bar with many options for you to choose your sides. I had chickpeas, lettuce, and cucumber. The chickpeas were very well seasoned. Their white sauce was good too. My friend had a falafel sandwich and really enjoyed it. Can't wait to be back! Taste | 4.5 Atmosphere | 3 Presentation | 3 Service | 4 OVERALL | 4.5

    Chicken and lamb over rice

The food here is excellent and worth the price. I got the lamb and chicken over rice to split with someone else. We thought it was expensive for 8$ at first, but when we saw the portion we realized it was a great deal. There was plenty of meat and rice and it was larger than a typical halal cart chicken over rice. The white sauce was great as well and added a new level to the taste when mixed in with the rice. Also we had the choice of what vegetables to mix in so we didn't have to worry about undesired ingredients in our food.

So YUMMY!!!! It has a chicken, gyro, falafel sandwich for $6. Chicken, gyro, or combo over rice for around $8. Then lamb chops and chicken kabob grilled combo platter $15(highly recommend!) And lamb chops, and chicken kabob separately. The real star is the chicken over rice. It's way better than the halal guys or any other halal cart and about 1.5x the size! They have a huge salad bar where you can pick what you want along with whatever option you get. I always get cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, pickelled peppers, and lettuce. It makes it seem like a much bigger meal because of the huge portion of salad. The grilled combo is really good! The lamb chops are super tasty and chicken kabob is just amazing. Nothing better than yummy grilled meat with rice! The gyro meat sucks though, kinda bland and flavorless. Chicken for the win!!

Walked over to Gyro King last week for the first time. I was in and out really quickly, probably under 5 minutes. Workers were very attentive and efficient. Food was DELICIOUS and a great value - huge portion of chicken over rice, extra white sauce and pita bread for $10. The pita bread was warm and so tasty. The salad bar looked super fresh. Will be back!

Would recommend not sitting directly in the aisle in front of the door if it can be helped as it's a major traffic area. Arrived early for dinner and stood at the door for a while with no acknowledgment. There were only a few customers so not very busy. I eventually walked to the back and asked a server if I'm supposed to seat myself. I was finally seated and then another wait. Almost felt ignored... A server finally came by to ask my order but since it was my first time I asked for suggestions. I settled on the vegan platter ($24) so I could try a variety of items. I also got the Labne and Shay Ma Na Na ($8) (mint tea).. They also provide a complimentary pita, olives, and zaatar. The platter is large enough to share between two. The dawali (grape leaves) lacked flavor, thin in size, and not much rice inside. Typically they have a nice tang to them and have more rice filling. There is a salad of just greens and large onion rings. I'd suggest using the olive oil as dressing. Falafel and dip was basic. The labne felt like something was missing, maybe needed more salt/zaatar or lemon. The tea was decent but the traditional pot it comes in leaks. I mentioned this and was told yea it does. I was given paper napkins. The traditional pot looks cool, but leaves wet drops of tea every time you try to pour in a cup. I'd suggest something else to avoid a wet table. My table was also wobbling. While the server tried to add paper to even it out, it still wobbled. Ended up moving to another table. There is a restroom downstairs. No elevator. Overall, loved the artwork and look of the place, but the food and service could be better. Perhaps I'll return to try the desserts someday.

Israeli style with pickles, which I love. The chickpea soup was a standout. So flavorful and nourishing; definitely a nod to the sopa de garbanzos that I grew up with. The generous portion of labane is rich and complimented by herbs and an excellent olive oil. But it only comes with one pita! Personally, I'd prefer a smaller portion with more bread. Ok, first, let's be accurate about a few things. Etymologically, "batata" comes from the Spanish for "potato." This is a nod to "Sephardic" Jews, from the Hebrew word for the Iberian Peninsula (by definition, Spain and Portugal; after "expulsion," this came to include a diaspora more broadly northern African. In order words, western and southern European, not Eastern like Ashkenazi Jews.)

The eggs were cooked to perfection, the tuna was fresh and generous, and the coffee was so good I got another one to take with us on our walk through the park. Usually the vibe is this: bright, airy, cafe featuring breakfast plates, many of them vaguely Mediterranean, with continuous additions made to the menu announced via large sign print outs taped up all over the walls and windows of the space. While he's tested out a burger spot, an ice cream concept, his most successful business has to be Cafe Madeline, directly next door to this here Atelier December. With Atelier December, and with Victorian Cafe over on Coney Island Ave and Cortelyou, he's pretty much replicated this formula with much success, as it was packed on the Monday afternoon I visited. Unique to this menu are the pancakes, which come in the flavors pistachio, hazelnut praline, lemon zest, and coconut. I opted for the coconut and it was the best thing on my table. The turmeric fried eggs plate I got sounded promising but was decidedly mediocre and way way oversalted. The cardamom latte was delicious. So some hits and one miss, but overall a solid cafe to get some work done, catch up with a friend, or to take yourself on a solo brunch date to.
