Moved to the burg from the Detroit area and have been missing good Greek food like this. Don't know how long Gyro Palace has been here but I just found them. Delicious! I loved the chicken gyro with feta added, it had plenty of meat too. I will definitely order from them again and love the fact that they deliver. The only other thing you can get around here by delivery is of the pizza/Italian variety. So..... extra kudos that they deliver!! read more

I waited two hours for delivery (mind you I live 5 minutes away). When I called, the man who answered the phone was rude, condescending, and couldn't care less. He just kept telling me that it "should be there soon". By the time it finally did arrive, needless to say it was cold, soggy, wet, and falling apart. This is the last time I order from them. My new favorite place for lunch when I'm in Newtown. Don't let the unassuming outside appearance fool you--this has the best Greek food around. The inside is very neat and clean. The owner is extremely nice and the food is exceptional for the price. The appetizer portions are enough for a meal itself. Every menu item is under $10 with the exception of one $11 item and one $12 item. I got the domolades and spanikopita for appetizers. The domolades were the best I ever had and the spanikopita had layered flaky crust. I had the gyro wrap and it was very large and the lamb was excellent. I had their homemade bacalava for dessert and again, the best I ever had. The drinks are self serve from a upright cooler. The only thing I could possibly find wrong was they did not have any bottled tea drinks. read more

We were visiting Williamsburg and had a craving for gyros so we found this restaurant. First there dinner special was 8.95 for a gyro platter. Ordered two and he said the bill was $23 have no clue how that happened, then the gyro's were bland and the French fries where awful. Was vary disappointed with this place. My husband and I drove 40 mins because we heard great reviews about this place and my husband's favorite gyro and greek food restaurant was closed down so we decided to try this out and it was great. Its a cute little diner not all fancy which I like its one way to keep prices down. The ppl and owner were friendly and service was fast and the gyro meat are the huge chunks of delicious meat instead of the really thin sliced meat. My husband was so happy to find a new place to come eat his gyros, he says we will gladly make the trip. My kids enjoyed their food, ate it all up and doesn't usually happen. We ordered dessert and the owner gave us a free desert to try and it was good. If your looking for good, homemade greek food or gyros, this is your place and I hope they stay around for along time. These family diners that are about the real food and home town service is what we need more of, please stop by and the prices are unbeatable esp for the amount and quality of the food. My husband was able to take home a pound of uncooked but already seasoned gyro meat to cook for dinner sometime this week and it cost $4, same price even cheaper than ground beef at the store. read more

I saw several bad reviews on this place, one from a lady who had the 'I want to speak to the manager' haircut. Her review reflected exactly what I assumed about her, but low and behold, she liked the food. Another said he was unhappy with the delivery time. He must've never worked in the food industry. All of these negative reviews had me pause, to wonder if I was making the right culinary choice for my dinner. None of them disliked the food. In fact, every single review, good or bad, said the food was amazing. I then saw the picture of the outside of this place and that changed my mind entirly. I immediately recognized this place for what it is. A place that has food so good, and is resultantly so busy because of the quality of flavor, that they are busy enough to service a large variety of people. Anyone who has worked in the service industry for five minutes knows that it is impossible to please everyone. Especially the uppity folks around these parts. What really matters to me is if they are excellent at the basics. Like making amazing food. This place nails it. I can't remember a Greek Food joint with better tasting food, and I've been to Greece. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE. I am on vacation and tried to get some good Hot wings from this restaurant. After searching through many restaurants, this one APPEARED to have a good rating. I guess the rating is wrong. I called and they said 30-45 minutes for deliveries. They took my credit info and then hung up. We waited an hour and called and they said the driver was almost here. After 30 more minutes(thats 1 hour and a half total) we called and they said the driver should be here in 10 minutes. We are 1.5 miles away. (7 minutes driving) When i called to answer the order, halfway through the converstation THEY HUNG UP ON ME! I had to call again and make sure i was getting my refund in my credit card which they offered to bring to the hotel im in WHENEVER THEY CAN, as if im going to wait all day for them on my family vacation. Now i have to drive to their restaurant to get a copy of refund receipt. All because of they inability to keep their word on 30-45minutes. I do not recommend this to anyone, especially since they were VERY RUDE and they didnt even seem to care that they lost a customer. I now cant have anything for the night since everything else is closed. Very upset. read more

Horrible experience on Father's Day! Terrible customer service. Had front row seats to an employee having a very public and very profane meltdown, all while the owner and whomever else was there hid in the kitchen. My husband asked the employee to please quiet down and watch his language, but the guy got mouthy and irate. The owner (I assume) only came out when I went searching for someone to get us carryout containers (we were NOT sticking around to eat there!). He was only worried about whether we paid for our food (!). No apologies, no acknowledgement of the drama going on in his store. Avoid this place!! I'd give it ZERO stars if it were an option :-( read more

They should rename this place IDC Greek (I don't care Greek!) Honestly it doesn't even deserve to have the word Greek in it. My friend and I ordered a souvlaki wrap each: one beef and one chicken. They both were absolutely lifeless from the wilted lettuce down to the sour cream ("tziki") and both meats were very plain with no Greek seasoning or flavour. The beef was chewy also. To sum it up the man serving us didn't seem to care if we were there or not for business (I believe he was the owner). At the end he asked if everything was all right and it was exactly that: just all right. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone, that is, unless you just don't care! read more

My gymnastics team and I came from University of Alaska Anchorage for a competition and had dinner here one night. I wasn't sure what to expect upon arriving to the little restaurant. They set up the tables to fit our large group, and were super accommodating. The food was incredible, my teammates would agree. All in all, it was a great experience, I would recommend it. :) read more

We love to get delivery from this place! Most definitely a switch up from pizza delivery for sure! I'm a Pescatarian so having healthy options is wonderful! The salad is standard iceberg though... My husband gets the gyro and my son as well, however sometimes he gets chicken... I love the hummus platter. read more

I really like the food, but the delivery is just awful. I live less than a mile away and it takes 80 minutes to get a single order. And this order was placed at 2 pm on a weekday, so it's not exactly a busy time. Furthermore, on several occasions the food has been cold by the time it got to me. Terrible!!! Do not go! The owner stuck his hand in my husbands plate and yelled at him! Something about being around for forty years and he has never deceived no one. We had only nicely asked the waitress (Likely she the owners wife) if the kabobs were correct because the menu was deceiving due to it saying Gyro not kabobs. The waitress said she would ask two seconds latter this nasty rude man comes up behind my husband Grabs at the stick from the Gyro kabob and yells at my husband in front of everyone in the little Gyro shop including our 6 year old daughter and close friends that he has "never deceived anyone in his being around for 40 years" my husband and I just said the menu did not say the Gyro meat was a kabob and we both thought it was shaved Gyro meat. We did not argue as we were only asking a question. He had ordered the most expensive item on the menu and was surprised when in came to the table was only 3 kabobs a pita bread and some potatoes. We were a party of ten and will Never Never return to this Gyro Greek Palace!! As for the food, I ordered a chicken Gyro Sandwich the pita was not toasted and the Chicken could not be dryer! The falafel was so dry my mother was choking on it to get if down as no one could say anything due to the irate owner who showed no customer service skill whatsoever. Do not go!!! read more

Maybe I should have known better since it was delivery... Asked for nothing on the lamb gyro but meat and pita (for my son that will only eat carrots when it comes to vegetables). They got the sauce on the side bit right, but the gyro came w/ lettuce, tomatoes, and the dreaded chopped red onion (NOT a flavor that is easily removed along with the contents). That didn't go over well for obvious reasons... Then I requested fries instead of rice (stated in the special request box of my online order IF this was possible- certainly not an expectation, but I could have sworn the driver said they made it happen and I enthusiastically thanked him & then cried into my pastitsio when I realized one of us was wrong). Overall it was OK. I like gyro meat to be more of a flat/shaved consistency and not chunky strips b/c I'm picky like that (wonder where my child gets it from). Pastitsio was kinda bland and dry like any preheated casserole gets dry. Delivery service was actually shorter than anticipated during dinner rush hour. All in all I'd order from there again if I wanted the convenience of delivery and was in the mood for something besides the usual pizza. I'd probably try something other than the two above items though, and would steer clear of requesting substitutions or modifications. read more
