OMG! This was really good. Ordered online (restaurant's website) from a resort at 9pm on a Sunday knowing it would be an hour for delivery. Tyropita, chicken skewer platter, gyro platter, and a dessert. Got a call a few minutes later that they were out of the dessert and a man, probably the owner, gave us other options. He also made sure we knew it would be an hour. At 9:55 my husband went out to wait. Then I got nervous and started looking at reviews. By 10:10 I was a little more nervous and I was still waiting for him to come back in. Finally, about 10:15 he walked in with the food. Turns out the food was there right on time, but the delivery guy from whatever third party, with his wife in the car, gave my husband a long sob story about being homeless and how he would never be able to stay in such a nice place. Sorry buddy, we've struggled too and we get it but... not cool. So the food was AMAZING! It was still pretty hot. My husband loved the gyro platter except I forgot to add feta. I have found that a lot of places don't include feta on their gyros anymore without an extra charge. Sign of the times, I suppose. My chicken skewers were delicious. I love lemon and real Greek food, when done right, is full of lemon flavor. The chicken had a wonderful lemony tang... and the roasted potatoes were just like the Greek potatoes I make at home with lemon, garlic, chicken broth and olive oil and they roast until they're falling apart. I've only ever found them at one other restaurant. I am not Greek nor have I been to Greece, but I am a foodie and somewhat of a chef and this was the best Greek I have had. The tyropita were crispy and the seasoning in the cheese was excellent. The tatziki sauce was fresh and flavorful, lots of garlic and dill, not just cucumber and yogurt. The food was "mid tier," as everything lacked seasoning, and there was nothing special about the generic fries that you can tell were previously frozen. In addition, the chicken was very overcooked. I'm out here visiting and ordered from this restaurant. The food was so nasty. I ordered the grilled chicken breast. It had the worst taste ever and the rice as well. I usually don't waste my money but I couldn't even force myself to eat it. The portion was real small and I'm surprised it didn't come with a small section of vegetables and the tzatziki sauce like most places that sell gyros. Snookered once again! Two days ago I had just left Colonial Pie Company, and was on my way to Pho 79, with my order firmly in mind, when I stumbled across GP. Small, tidy building. Inside, it was clean and perky. I browsed a menu for about 5 minutes, then ordered a Lamb Gyro and a Greek Salad. While I was waiting, I noticed a very eye-catching box of Ouzo hard candy. It was primarily a beautiful Cycladic blue, so I guess it qualifies as eye candy, $4.95. I thought that was a bit much for a 300g box, but I purchased it, and later found the same product on Amazon ($9.55), Walmart ($5.99), Greekmarket ($6.25). So $4.95 at the Gyro Palace is great... plus no shipping costs! Fifteen minutes later I was headed home, drooling. At home, I set aside the Greek Salad, because that will easily stay fresh for a few hours. Gyro time! The Gyro was primed with a tasty Tzatziki sauce, and had an additional cup of Tzatziki sauce (at least I believe they were the same) on the side. It was a very good Lamb Gyro. Weighing in at 14.7 ounces, it was perhaps not the best LG I've had, but still worth repeating. I ate half on Sunday, and set aside half for the next day. Then the Greek Salad (Iceberg lettuce, Tomatoes, Bermuda Onion, Kalamata Olives with Pits, Feta, Cukes, Green Pepper.) That's the way to do a Greek Salad! Abundant Feta! The only thing I found disturbing about the GS was the Kalamata Olives which had an odd (to my palate) taste. Not a bad taste at all, just not what I was used to. So I paused mid-salad to eat all the olives by themselves. Then resumed with the leafy stuff. I can't wait to return! So many Greek and American dishes I want to try! read more

Delicious Mom and Pop style Greek restaurant. Totally a hole in the wall but absolutely worth the visit. Seen in a magazine and so so so glad that we stopped by. There was an older man who waited on us who was very nice and friendly, but it seemed like he was the only one waiting, working, cooking and the cashier so food and drinks took some time despite not being very busy. I'm not a big fan of one star reviews. I was asked what my favorite and least favorite restaurants were in Williamsburg. I can now safely say this is on the list of least favorite. If you like falafels that pair nicely with round rubber hockey pucks, the falafels are right up your alley. If you take a bite of the pizza and close your eyes you'll think you are at an amusement park with their pre made pizzas. This restaurant has been around a long time and unfortunately suffered when Covid hit. I don't see too many cars out front so I always hesitated to stop by, until this week. So glad we did! They primarily cater to take out/delivery but have a quaint indoor dining space to sit and eat your takeout. We ordered the basic lamb gyro with fries and chicken strips for our daughter. Delicious and fresh!! Great prices, too. The owner/manager is from Greece and brought some extra authenticity to the place! My family is visiting from out-of-town on a reunion, and I found this place through GrubHub. We were taking turns with dinner responsibility, and tonight was my night to take care of the dinner for our group. It didn't have scary reviews on GrubHub, and I placed a decently large order last night and scheduled delivery for today at 5:30pm. Then, today I went onto Yelp and noticed the overall sub-par rating, and read some of them. I almost cancelled my order due to the lack of stars, when my sister reminded me that people are more apt to get onto Yelp and complain / be negative, so you have to assume there are more positive experiences than have been posted comparatively. We decided to chance it, and I'm glad we did. And here I am posting a positive review of our experience, so now you know that they exist!! For 9 adults and a few small children, we ordered 8 entrees along with the side Greek salads for each of them (we like our greens). We also ordered 2 sampler appetizers and one eggplant appetizer. We had plenty of food for everyone, including a small amount of leftovers. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, nicely packed, and everyone complimented the food. This wasn't elaborate, complex cuisine. It was just good Greek comfort food - the Zeus platter gave a great sampling of several items, and the souvlaki platters were solid (we got 2 chicken and 2 pork and everyone liked both) - the skewer meat was perfect size to offer the kids too. Also, with small kids, it was important for the food to arrive on time to avoid hangry little monsters. We got notification that the food would arrive between 5:30 and 5:40, and I was apprehensive they'd make it within this small window (esp. given a few previous reviews of issues). The delivery was right on time!! And, the delivery person texted me when he arrived so that I easily was able to meet him at our designated spot outside the hotel. Overall this was an unexpected great experience, with good food and good service. We'd definitely order from Gyro Palace again. read more

Just okay. Process.... Called in an order for carryout Sunday evening. Two gyros, no onions. Easy. Given price and told 15 minutes. Arrived. Order had been lost between the table with the laptop and the kitchen. No problem, order put together in less than 5 minutes. Credit card machine was working and out the door. Food.... Well it's not the best and not the worst. Meat is tender, juicy, and flavorful, but it's not carved from the spit. It had a different texture about it, but not necessarily bad. Ive had a lot of gyros, many in Turkey (Doner Kebab), and the meat was off... but not bad. Feta is extra. The sauce is very oniony and seems like something you buy at the store. The pita was good. Price... The sandwich was 7.50 with no sides and the feta was a dollar extra. I should have asked for a discount for having no onions lol. By the time you add it up you're probably better off getting the platter. Location. Not the best location but not too hard to find. Pretty simple interior with soda refrigerator and chip rack. There were a handful of tables and the place Appeared somewhat clean. If I were in a pinch I'd eat here again, but I doubt I'll be back. read more

I had a very average lunch experience here. I used them for delivery when I couldn't escape the office. $12 minimum, so I had to order a bit more than I needed. If I recall correctly it was delivered in about 30 minutes, which was what was promised on Grub Hub. I went with the Santorini Panini and a side of hummus. I wouldn't order the panini again. It had grilled chicken pieces, spinach, mozzarella and marinara sauce and was served with roasted potatoes. I found the sandwich to be pretty bland honestly. And the chicken was dry. The potatoes were also rather bland. The hummus was good though. If I give them another try it will be to get something more traditional like a gyro or souvlaki. And unless ordering with someone else I'll get takeout to save some money. read more

This place wasn't bad and it wasn't great. It was just OK. The highlight for me was the gyro meat, which is good for a place called Gyro Palace, I suppose. It tasted very fresh and was nicely seasoned. It wasn't cut from one of those vertical rotisserie broilers like most gyros, but it was very tasty nonetheless. The vegetables were good, and the bread was a bit spongy, almost like it had been baked in the oven and then rewarmed in a microwave. The fries were warm and good. In terms of style they were like halfway between McDonald's and Wendy's in size. They were fresh but not extremely crispy, and that's how I like them. On the negative side of things, the drink selection was not great. Five or so different flavors of pop in cans (fine in someone's backyard but a pet peeve of mine in a restaurant) were offered. I don't like tzatziki sauce so I get my gyros without it, but Kayt said hers was terrible. She said it was like they just glopped a bunch of sour cream on it. I guess that's bad. The restaurant was mostly clean, except for one table that looked like the restaurant's office. A phone carriage, a laptop, and piles of papers and files all over the place. Not a good look. It was a little expensive, too. $20 for two gyros, two small fries, and two cans of pop is a bit much, I think. read more

Fries are definitely just frozen in a bag and not even cooked well with no seasoning at all We had asked for ketchup and mayo to only be given 2 packs of ketchup per fry order and only 1 mayo and small amount of napkins even though it is clear we are in a hotel room. I love visiting quirky looking hole in the wall type establishments when traveling, and I absolutely love Greek food, especially gyros. However, this place reeked of cigarettes and there weren't many meatless options. I special requested the Greek salad in a gyro and the owner thought it was a novel idea. It tasted delicious, but we couldn't bring ourselves to eat there with the tobacco smell, so we ate in the car. We also tried to sit at a larger table (a couple tables put together) for our family of 3 while we waited for our food. The restaurant was completely empty except for us, and the owner asked us to move to a smaller table in case a large party showed up. Instead of just putting more tables together on the off chance a party greater than 4 showed up. Apparently not a lot of Yelpers love this spot. I disagree with those Yelpers. This is one of the better downtown delivery places. They're fast except on weekends, and the food is GOOD. Would I still go if they didn't deliver? YEP. Try the Hummus & Falafel Wrap, the lamb burger, or the samplers. Sides: the Greek pasta salad is meh, so are the Greek fries, but the Greek salad is good, if a little simple. I do agree with one other Yelper: stick with the Greek stuff. During our stay at Kings Creek Plantation one evening I did not feel like cooking. We used Yelp to find some place local that delivers. We ordered two meals via their website which took us to Grubhub. We accidentally gave them the address of the clubhouse and not of our suite. They called when they arrived at the Clubhouse to get the actual location. They delivered within the time indicated when we placed the order (even with the address issue). We did not receive a side salad, I called and they gave us a credit within 20 minutes of us placing the call. Mistakes happen, how you handle them is what matters. Based on some of the reviews and pics, we chose the Gyro Palace with the assumption the gyros would be tasty and the ambience relatively bleak. Well, as it turned out, both were pretty pitiful. We had pita with tzatziki to start and gyro combos - gyro with fries and a drink. The tzatziki was glorified sour cream, served on a bed of cucumbers that look as if they were cut with a dull, plastic knife. And I'm fairly sure the pita was "freshly" microwaved. The lettuce served on the gyro was wilted at best, and the wrap was smothered with yet more of the weak tzatziki. Fries were good - I think they must have been Ore Ida. You know you can get those bags in bulk at Sam's Club, or wherever. I will give the service a thumbs up. The gentleman at the register (server too) was very sweet. My co-diner hit the nail on the head - maybe they should consider renaming the spot "The Gyro Place..." read more

I really don't like to write reviews like this, but this stood out as the worst meal I've had in Williamsburg thus far, not to mention the worst Greek food I've ever had. After no food for 30+ hrs due to a procedure, I was ready to eat anything, but I couldn't even finish this meal. I ordered the Zeus platter and the pork was dense and very chewy, which I couldn't finish because it was both very tough and the underlying flavor seamed like it was definitely past its freshness date, the chicken was under seasoned and chewy, and the gyro meat was tender but too salty. The tzatziki had almost no flavor and an extra order was like $2 for a tiny cup of it. The potatoes had no skin and no seasoning and were more parboiled than roasted. My wife ordered the chicken souvlaki, and had the same issues with the chicken. Her's also included a rice dish, which I tried and had to spit out into a napkin it was so bad. I think the only thing that was ok was the half-stale pita bread which was store bought. Seriously, try the other two places in town first. I'd have asked for my money back but decided this Yelp review was worth the price to warn others to stay the heck away!! I wouldn't even go back if it was on my corner and the only place open in a 25 mi radius. read more
