Gyro world is the best in the neighborhood in bay side the other gyro places are nasty. This place keeps up with the renovations and with the cleanliness of the restaurant which I appreciate a lot. The food is tender and moist no complaints even been coming here for the past 7 years whenever I crave Greek food. Gyro World is the way to go if you want some very good Greek food. Big fan of the beef biftec and the chicken patties. Well spiced and the portions were of the healthy bunch. The lemon potatoes are very yummy. Its a much better option in lieu of the French fries. The tangy and softness of the potatoes are to die for. The pita bread is very soft and doughy reminiscent of a Mediterranean kitchen. The avogolemono chicken soup is very good to have on a cold winter's night when feeling under the weather. The delivery wait can between 40-55 minutes so I would advise to order well in advance to actually eating it. read more

I usually get the gyro world platter for either two or four, depending on how many people I'm buying for. The portions are ridiculous for the price. Platter for two will definitely feed three or four. Note that if you order this while dining in, you will be in for a pretty long wait. But it's worth it. They also do a good Greek salad, so get one of those while you're at it...you'll need it to cut through the heaviness of the world platter. Lemon potatoes are also pretty good. Gyro World recently came to Grubhub and I decided to try it before I read the actual reviews on Grubhub. The food was not bad, but the delivery is horrible. I waited for over an hour for a restaurant that is 7 minutes away from where I live. If I knew it would take over an hour, I wouldn't have put in an order to begin with. If Gyro World decides to improve significantly on their delivery time, then maybe I will give this place another shot. read more

I've come here a couple of times and never had a bad meal. Portion sizes are massive and the gyro is always tasty. Chicken souvlaki was dry a few times but that comes with the territory. SInce Avli opened on Bell Blvd, I've stopped coming since their food is just generally better. However, this place is still a good choice if you're in the area. read more

We just stopped by last night for take-out on the way home from LI. My girlfriend loves Greek food, and has been having trouble finding a good place for a while now, so this was a big night for us! My exposure to Greek food comes from sidewalk vendors and crappy little diners, so I wasn't a fan, but the beef gyro I had was really excellent. You can't go wrong with the platter for two. It's got a variety of meats and can feed three hungry men or a family of four (two kids). Order extra pita and tzatziki sauce. The sodium count is on the higher end of the spectrum. Street parking can be a challenge, especially with the half car spots in between driveways. read more

Gyro meat just needs to be little more cooked. For some reason I didn't think it was hot enough. Maybe I came in when it was really busy but food is fresh and the owner/staffs are friendly. This is my go-to Greek place for when I can't trek to Astoria(not to be compared with Zenon Taverna or Taverna Kyclades). I've had the Greek style gyro(my friend recommended I stick to this), lemon potatoes, spinach pie & the baklava once. My favorite is the chicken kebab. The chicken was so moist and went perfectly with the lemon potatoes and tzaziki sauce! The service is good and now they take credit cards :) I also love the fact it's close by. read more

this place is clean, big, and has friendly staff. portions are pretty decent too. the platter is around $11 and the sandwich is around $6. both are relatively cheap considering how much food comes out. the platter comes with fries and a side of salad/soup also. tried the lamb platter- meat was tender and lamb wasn't overpowering. tried the chicken souvlaki- it was ok. i thought there was too much white sauce and that it needed to be balanced with some hot sauce. went on a tues night around 6-7. place was pretty empty and didn't have to wait. read more

The best gyros ever! When we used to live in Flushing we would order from here at least 1-3 x's a month. Now that we've moved and can't find decent gyros in the Boston area we ordered 6 gyros to go on our weekend get away last week. Once we got home we stuffed our faces. they had a two different price list, If you sit there you have to pay $1 extra on a platters which doesn't make sense because it is the same food. So delivery price is cheeper since we as customers pay a tip at the restaurant or give tip to the delivery guy would be the same thing. Basically they are saying don't come to the store. read more

I love the staff here! Have been coming since before their expansion years ago, and while some things have certainly changed, they still provide quality service and food. Aside from the gyro, that is, which is surprisingly not all that good despite the nomenclature of this establishment. Instead, I would definitely recommend opting for the chicken souvlaki, or any of the souvlaki sticks for that matter, as they are all fantastic. Pair that up with some solid french fries or pita bread and you've got yourself a wonderful meal. Their salad bowls are supermassive, which is awesome if you're trying to get your greens on. First time hearing about this place took a chance last night after work. When we got there the atmosphere was good, they sat us right away the spacing inside is great. We order the gyros and you can tell when its fresh and not frozen. Even the pita bread had that fresh taste where you can taste the flour and feel the difference. This place is just awful. The staff are incompetent and always get the order wrong. No matter how many times I can repeat the order, they still get it wrong. The delivery wait is ALWAYS long. Came here on Sunday night, really crowded. But I have no idea why this place is so popular. I ordered the gyro plater. The portion is just too big. LOVE their gyros! Ordered the beef and lamb gyros with the works at the counter and waited about 10 minutes even though it was extremely busy in the restaurant. It was great for takeout but also looked like a casual sit-down restaurant if you were in the mood to hang out there and eat. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. The meat on the spit looked fresh and the smell made my mouth water. Once I got home, I was able to enjoy my meal. The gyro is a decent portion that filled me up. The meat was so tender and melted in my mouth. The tzatziki sauce was tangy and delicious. the pita was thick and didn't get too soggy with the works on it. I'll write my review in simple chronological order so that it's simple, straight to the point, and others may be able to visualize my awful experience. -Ordered food through phone, host who picked up was kind. -Went to pick up food and returned home, excited and hungry. -Picked up pack of calamari and realized all the condensation on the lid, noticed there weren't any vent holes. Calamari was so soggy, I threw them in my air fryer. No big deal. -Friends and I picked up our portions, dug around bag for utensils. One pair of utensils for entire meal. Fine. Grabbed my own. -Looking for the extra tzaziki sauce I PAID extra for. No where to be found. Seriously? -Pulled my calamari out of my air fryer, and opened marinara sauce they provided. -Marinara sauce bubbled, (imagine a pot of bubbling witch stew.) -Suspiciously dipped calamari into it and took a bite. -Immediately tasted sour, fermentedness from the sauce. Assured with my friends, and concluded that the sauce is indeed old, fermented, carbonated, and probably was sitting in its own mold. This experience has already been snowballing into the travesty that this yelp review has become since the moment I received my order. Needless to say, my gyro craving has not been fulfilled, and my friends and I will not be ordering from here ever again. read more

I like this spot. My favorite is the grilled chicken breast on a pita. I usually dine out because the place is overall small with only 7-8 seats that available. I always order and within ~15 minutes, my order is ready to go, in which I take it home, and it is still steaming hot. The only downside and problem I have is when you order the fries and take them to go, they get all soggy and aren't crispy, this has stopped me from ordering the french fries. They need to find another way to package. Otherwise, this place is amazing for quick little sandwiches. :-) read more
