Went to Taverna Kyclades in Bayside with a family member, and after quite some time since my last visit, I can honestly say it did not disappoint. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather while the open panels gave the restaurant a nice indoor-outdoor feel. The food was just as delicious as I remembered. The grilled octopus was excellent, and we shared the stuffed shrimp and chicken souvlaki, both of which were tender, flavorful, and nicely plated with vegetables and potatoes. The drinks were great too. I had a Moscow Mule, and my cousin, a beer enthusiast, really enjoyed his IPA. One of the biggest highlights was the service. Our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. A manager also greeted us with a smile and happily accommodated our request to sit outside. We never felt rushed and were able to relax and enjoy our meal. The vibe was cool, the place very clean and service wonderful!! Fresh food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. We've been here before so came here for lunch while I was in the area. Walked in without a reservation (don't know if they take) and thankfully was seated right away. Service was the highlight for me. The gentleman helping our table was professional, patient, and prompt with our requests. We ordered a variety of different entrees and the calamari to start. I myself for the swordfish steak which was a touch dry to be honest but overall though everything was good. It's a cute spot as I remembered that can get quite busy. Stopped by today for a work lunch. The place was pretty busy. Service was quick and attentive. The dishes wear large portions and cooked perfect. We got the chicken kebab. Large chunks of chicken with pepper and onion, accompanied by a side of rice, potatoes, fries, or swiss chard. Lunch goes for around 20 to 25 a plate. One of my favorite spots for Greek food! It's usually busy so I recommend making a reservation because the food is delicious! The service is always really great and prompt, and the restaurant just has a nice vibe overall. I was here recently for dinner with friends and was not disappointed. We had the Octopus (so amazing!), Lamb Chops (I can't get enough of these!!!), and the Chicken Kebab, which was MASSIVE! My friend took it home because she could not finish it. We also had the Estrella and Spanish pie, which were both really tasty. One of the great things about this spot is the portion size - and that goes for EVERY dish. This is a great place to come for dinner and I would definitely come here again. The bread was absolutely delicious and came with a delicious olive paste! My mahi mahi (dorada) fish was cooked excellent and brought memories of my Mediterranean childhood! It was juicy delicate and flaky! Be alerted that this comes as a whole fish with the head and tail so for those not accustomed to this culture do not be alarmed. It is grilled and then filleted in half. Used to eat this fish daily since my dad used to be a fisherman. Thanks Taverna Kyclades for the nostalgia! Lemon potatoes were perfectly cooked as well. We had an excellent waiter. The octopus is a pretty good dish as well vinegary and tender! My husband said his stuffed shrimp was ok but the stuffing was mostly breadcrumbs but the shrimp themselves were good. I love me some big portions of delicious Greek/Mediterranean food. Taverna has it all for great affordable prices and amazing home style service. Think dinner party at your grandma's house type of service. Everyone is always checking in to see if the food is good, if they can get us anything else, and the staff just exude a really welcoming vibe all around. We started with a complimentary bread basket and the assortment of dips served with bread. The spicy feta and tzatziki were my favorites of the bunch, but our group of four devoured all the dips nonetheless. We all agreed that we could just order bread and dips and call it a meal because of how good their bread and dips were. But onto the main course, we enjoyed the chicken kebab and the kyclades seafood special which are both enormous portions. These two entrees alone could feed four people and somehow we managed to finish all our food. The entrees also came with sides and we chose the roasted beets and lemon roasted potatoes. Taste wise, the chicken kebab had a nice grilled flavor and went great with the side of tzatziki. The seafood special was well seasoned but could do with a bit more salt. This wasn't an issue because there was salt on the table so we could adjust to how we liked. Texture wise, certain parts of the chicken became chewy as it cooled down but the texture of all the seafood was perfect. For sides, we all really enjoyed the lemon roasted potatoes over the beets even though the beets were decent. And the meal gets better because on top of the complimentary bread basket, they also serve complimentary dessert! Each of us got a slice of what looked like baklava. The nutty and honey washed phyllo dough was a great end to our meal. If you haven't made your way to Bayside, now is your chance because a lot of great food is there. We came here on a Friday around 3:30 and caught their lunch menu. The restaurant was pretty empty with maybe 4 other small parties (it's a big place) and we were all sat towards the front of the restaurant. While we looked at the menu, they gave us bread with an olive spread that was very yummy! We ordered a half carafe of their house white wine. It was very light, refreshing and generous in portion. We also ordered the grilled squid lunch special which was very generous in portion as well. It was tasty, well seasoned but a little dry. The lunch special came with a side so we picked the fries which were great. They were a mix of fries/chips and super tasty. We also got the kyclades special which serves 2. It had fish, lobster tail, scallops, shrimp, stuffed clams and came with 2 sides. The special was good and had great flavor but it felt like the seafood is not as fresh as it can be but not to the point where it's super noticeable. For the sides we got the beets which were good, and lemon potatoes which were also good but both nothing special. At the end they gave us free baklava (no nuts) for dessert which was a nice touch. I am partial to the location in Astoria. I always get the grilled octopus and branzino with lemon potatoes. I feel it's the most popular dishes. There isn't anything wrong with this location but I live the vibes in Astoria better. The charr on the fish and octopus in Astoria has more a distant flavor and smell that ignites the senses. Greek Salad: Simple salad with chunks of tomato, olives, cucumber, fetta cheese, peppers, and shredded lettuce coated in a oil based dressing, which lacked seasoning again. A welcome addition to Bell Boulevard. I've been going to the Astoria location for over 30 years. In my opinion, this location is even better. If you love seafood, there's no other place better than this in Bell Blvd. The grilled squid, and dishes are the tops. The food is great, the service is great, and the owners are gems. My husband doesnt eat seafood so it's been a great dinner spot that my kids and I come to. Just wish parking was a but easier, but that's not the restaurant's problem. They do tend to be a little light on the salt for my taste, so I always ask for salt and hot sauce. Overall a solid place. read more

Taverna was one of my favorite restaurants for over ten years until yesterday. I was served undercooked seafood- stomach ache all night and Although they tried to make it right, it got worse. Instead of bringing a fresh plate, they took my plate back and brought back my plate that looked like it was heated but charred burned the rest... my husband's plate was messy with pasta spilled over his plate- presentation was awful. But I have to give little credit to the manager that apologized and tried to make it right, however I was grossed out and insulted and wanted to leave right away. Best approach should have been was to bring a fresh and properly cooked dish, not to cook the same plate and ruin the rest of the food on the plate and for the server to recognize the wrong- not the manager/owner. Poor judgement and business practice. Server didn't recognize the mishaps and acted like nothing happened. Taverna used to be nice classy restaurant with excellent food both in presentation and flavor - now the quality of food and service has declined to the point that I will not be returning nor have business meetings there any longer. read more

I had been to the location in Astoria which is really good and had always passed by this location but never went in. I went on a Sunday night which was pretty busy but we were seated very quickly. The server was very friendly and took our order right away. We ordered a bottle of red wine which I believe was their house wine and it was semi sweet and very tasty. It paired perfectly with the branzino for two which came with a few pieces of asparagus, side of lemon potatoes and rice. The fish was very light and delicious. The lemon potatoes were a complete hit and the rice was cooked perfectly. As our appetizer, we ordered a dozen clams which were very fresh and were a great way to start the meal. They gave us this delicious flaky dessert with a creamy filling on the house. The prices are quite expensive to plan to spend around $200 for a dinner for two. read more

Taverna Kyclades is one of my favorite restaurants in Bayside which is hilarious because I'm highly allergic to (all) seafood and that's majority of their menu. I'd been a fan of their Astoria location prior to the Bayside location opening. I always get the peasant salad. It's simple, but the feta, tomatoes, and cucumbers are consistently just so fresh! You can't go wrong. For entrées, I typically get chicken souvlaki or lamb chops. Again, just fresh, high quality food that's not over done or over complicated. The lemon potatoes and tzatziki are both also a must try. My family always opts for seafood and they rave about everything. The Kyclades special is a great deal. The experience dining in is always pleasant. It's beautiful in there and the service is great. In addition, we've ordered takeout and everything is always packed perfectly. The catering is also excellent and reliable. We hosted about 50 people at our house and had half the food catered from Taverna Kyclades and they did not disappoint. Highly recommend! read more

I ordered the chicken souvlaki with lemon potatoes and my friend ordered the shrimp with lemon potatoes. The chicken souvlaki was jumbo size. It came with 5 pieces, bell peppers, onions and tomatoes. The chicken was very juicy and tender. The lemon potatoes were good and had a nice lemon flavor. I recently came here on Wednesday caught the lunch special. I was so disappointed. I use to come here a lot years ago. Quality of food has decline. No love and effort was put into it , the potatoes were dry and tasteless as you can see they burnt my potato. I don't think my food was made fresh the calamari was room temperature the battered on the them was soggy I ask them to make them hot . They brought back out the same batch and refried them to the point where they were not edible . They were rubbery and hard to chew . The waiters swap out the second waiter didn't speak English and didn't understand my complaint. The scallops were hot but had no flavor . Just a waste of money. We had a party of 12 and since they don't take reservations they made a long table in the middle of the restaurant. When I called about reservations, they advised they don't take them. I was hoping to get the back room but it seemed like they had a party set up in there. I was a little perplex how that happens when they don't take reservations. On to dinner..We ordered almost one of everything on the menu..lol. The waitress advices us they had 2 big fishes that we can have family style..pink snapper and branzino and ordered both. Lots of space inside with a lively vibe. We were greeted and seated at a quiet corner, and were right away waited on. We were advised that the kitchen was busy and made aware of what selections might take a bit longer. All that was unnecessary though, and with the appetizers keeping us occupied, the entrees came out perfectly timed. Everything was very well prepared, and my steak was a perfect medium rare.
