Great food, we only have the souvlaki and fries and they are delicious! Fries are very good and portion is large. When my take out order wasnt filled properly, they told us they would remember our info and fill the order. The food is very good that's why we keep coming back BUT the service is HORRIBLE! Doesn't the manger/boss notice this! The waitresses are friendly but I don't think they submit the orders and check on the status to make sure we get our food on a timely basis. Its just way too slow! This is hands-down the best gyro cafe in Queens! My favorite type of gyro meat they have is the Greek Style Gyro which is pork. The meat is nicely browned and has crispy edges yet still maintain the juiciness of the marinade. That with the fresh crunch of red onions, tomatoes along with a big slather of the greek yogurt inside the toasted pita is just heavenly! I also love their fresh-cut french fries, very addictive! Not my favorite gyro place. I ordered the gyro and bifteki combo platter with rice. The salad that is included is fresh and not your every-day iceberg lettuce salad, which is nice, but they skimp on the feta. Their pita is fluffier than other places but not as tasty. They also served the salad and pita first and the meats came a couple minutes after. By then the pita was no longer warm and not as soft. The chicken lemon soup is not included and portion of meat is not as big as some other places. read more

We just found this place a little over a month ago and have eaten here 3 times already. The gyro meat is probably one of the best I've ever had. I ordered the fries the first time and didn't really like them as they were somewhat hard and didn't have much flavor. Ordered the rice the next two times and was satisfied. The only slight complaints I have would be that the music is very loud and sometimes the workers will crowd around the area you are in while you're eating. The restaurant was recently expanded to approx twice its size. Previous experiences were good with good service. The past experience was far less than previous. The service began friendly then the waitress disappeared and never returned. Hailed the manager/owner and still waited for our food to arrive. Other diners were seated and served, we waited. Finally, our orders arrived. The lemon potatoes were cold! The manager informed me that was the way they are served, room temp! This was not the first time we had lemon potatoes at a Greek restaurant and never were they room temp. Our waitress was still MIA and finally served by another waitress. Incredibly, so many service staff were just standing around doing nothing. Perhaps this was a fluke but i felt a snow job concerning the lemon potatoes. The gyro platter was at best mediocre. Tzadziki sauce was thin and tasteless. The top layers of gyro were good, but the less visible pieces were fatty. read more

gyroworld The white sauce is great different from cart food and it's very delish. The meats are good and decor ok. Very cheap on the white sauce. I buy the platter for 2 and they hardly give me white sauce - it finished fast. I ask for more and I see they charge me $2.95 for white sauce? When I ask to take the remaining food the guy dumps the white sauce I paid $2.95 excluding tax for. Like hello? wrap that up too cause it wasnt free and there was a lot left back!. I told him make sure to put back some, and he puts back very little - it was almost full. So I like my white sauce cheap or free not $2.95 - Chipotle charges $2.00 for guacamole and I think that is a little overpriced but they give a lot (on value $3.00 gives you a butter steak burger at checkers). Condiments I believe are suppose to be free/cheap! and I believe people go to such places more for how the tzatziki sauce taste with the food. Food:white sauce ratio was disproportionate with the initial amount that was given. Without it, it taste basically like cart food! I do know why they try to give u less white sauce sometimes which is a problem I find with most middle eastern places other than carts. It said large tzatziki which did not seem large to me and if you will charge that much for that then the yogurt used in the mix should be authentic homemade yogurt. Though the taste and portion on the meats is great with white sauce - since I am a fan of white sauce and there wasn't enough - I have to take 1 star for that and this would also prevent me from visiting soon. read more

I was told this is one of the best Greek places in queens so I had to try it out. I got the chicken Soulvaki sandwich and lemon potatoes while my boyfriend got the mixed gyro. Both sandwiches were great, decent portions, great flavors. I ordered a side of hot sauce, which was very spicy so it was perfect. The lemon potatoes were okay, kind of dry and not much lemon flavor. I tried to give this place another chance but tonight was by far the worst dining experience I ever had and the last time I will ever come here again. First the waitress that went to seat us had a really bad attitude my mom simply asked if we could please sit at another table and she replied where would you like me to put you? How about at the other tables that you had away from the windows. We didn't want to sit by the large windows that they had opened it was worse than a sauna in there with no air conditioning on whatsoever who wants to go out to eat at a hot restaurant? Is the owner that cheap that you don't want your customers to dine comfortably. Then we had a different waitress waiting on us who didn't pay any attention as we were ordering. We ordered the Greek salad as an appetizer and supposed to come out before your meal it came out with our meal and it was extremely dry no dressing on it which is the best part of the salad. Then our meal my mom ordered the burger and the top and the bottom of the bun was disgustingly soggy and soaked in grease and the chop meat they used for the burger is cheap it falls apart and it's just a chunk of cheap chop meat that has no kind of flavor at all. The french fries were soggy and barely cooked. And the worst for last was their chicken tenders I have never seen chicken tenders look like that they were really tiny the breading on the outside was disgusting and burnt they obviously overcooked them and they were just really dry and the chicken inside was rubbery, hard and tough I felt like I was going to lose several teeth trying to bite into it. The Tyson chicken tenders in a bag taste better than theirs, I wouldn't of even fed this garbage to my dog. I am not sure why they even expanded this place is terrible and their employees attitude are even more terrible. Our waitress didn't even come over to check on us not once she was so worried about favoring a bigger party we had to ask a different waitress for our check and when we paid. As a law student at St. John's, this place is a staple for me because they are open late. I get out of class at 10:45 at night and head right over to Gyro World to pick up dinner on my way home. Beef and lamb gyro, pork gyro, chicken souvlaki, and kefte are all a must. Everything is well seasoned, sliced, and grilled fresh. Lemon potatoes and french fries are both homemade and delicious. HUGE portions. You definitely get your money's worth here. Well over a half pound of meat, ample side order, tangy Avgolemono with big chunks of chicken and orzo or Greek salad complete with a stuffed grape leaf, pita, and tzatziki runs you under $15. Don't love the way the lettuce is cut on the greek salad which could also use more feta but these are minor quibbles. Everybody that works there is very nice and accommodating.
