My sandwich was awesome and I was easily able to pick up a bag of chips and a soda before I checked out. I got the standard sandwich with pickles. Yum. I only went here because I was told this was the closest to hungry head that I could get. and i'd say pretty spot on. not a fan of pickles on a sandwich but i learned as a 1st timer. While I'm traveling around near or far I keep a yeti cooler in my trunk ice packed up for anything to bring back home with me that I can't get near me. A lees deli sub would be going home with me and something Italian like. The place is a local favorite because they were non stop. The place is definitely divey and old looking. The staff worked the counter very well with the volume at the time and my sandwich took a bit. The size chart fools you with mini, regular and XL. The regular is huge compared to chain stores and the XL looked like a whole loaf of French bread sandwich wrapped up. I ordered the Godfather on Italian with pepperoni, pastrami, capicola, mozzarella, provolone, hot giardiniera, mayo, creamy Italian dressing, lettuce, tomato and onion on French bread. OMG the regular is huge for under $10 and Fu#king delicious with all the fresh toppings, meats and cheese. They don't skimp on the sandwich at all and the Paiellis fresh French bread makes this one of a kind awesome goodness. This really filled my crave that I always have for a great sandwich. Lees is no where near me but a road trip to Racine is well worth this hidden gem cranking out awesome sandwiches so I will be back with my cooler for sure. Lee's Deli has been in the community for over 40 years serving a variety of cold and hot sub-sandwiches, fish and chicken dinners, homemade potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, macaroni salad and more. Pros: - Great subs with fresh deli meats/cheeses - All subs come on a choice of five breads, with five dressing options, as well as lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and/or hot or mild peppers. -weekly specials offered (see pics) - bread scraps are offered to customers, if there are any available. * these are great for avocado toast in the mornings! - Customers can call order in ahead of time- strongly recommend. - very small private parking lot and/or street parking. - employ/ empower students from local HS (Park HS) by hiring students. - local/family owned; Has changed owners a few times since the 1960's, but it's still a great local deli. - Deli also sells few grocery items such as condiments and canned goods, candy, beverages, chips, and frozen pizzas. Cons: - parking lot is super small and street parking is minimal. - could use some renovations inside. -Nowhere for 'walk-in' customers to wait for food except his/her/their car. - inconsistency: I prefer my dressing and peppers on the side to avoid getting my bread soggy before I get home, thus I order it that way. However, there have been a few times where everything was still added to the top and/or the dressing was missing. I noticed that I used to get onion slices on my sandwich. This is hands down the best deli in Racine. It's been around for forever and the quality is top notch. The ingredients are always fresh and food is always high quality. I love the small town feel in there - the owner is always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful and the staff are fun and do their jobs well. Definitely has a family feel in there. The search for the perfect sub in Wisconsin continues. I had high hopes for Lee's, but 10.39 for a small portion of turkey and cheese doesn't work for me. Also, I asked for lettuce, tomato and onion and I was given small tomatoes and maybe 2 slices of onion. Maybe it's better if you order an Italian or something with different types of meat. I'm finding in Racine, if you only order turkey or one meat, they really cheap out:( Also, if you are new to this place, walk towards the back to order. I stood in the store for 5 minutes and no one acknowledged me.. finally, I walked to the back. They were super nice once I ordered. Sad, but they need to give folks a little more for their money, especially with places like Jersey mikes around. read more

Got this doorsdashed to us tonight. First thing, we ordered four deli pickles because they are amazing here. The restaurant was cool enough to call us and let us know they only had one pickle left and instead of us losing out on the money let us pick something else from the deli at no extra charge. The Godfather sandwich is DELICIOUS, pasta salad was bomb, the Reuben corn beef was amazing. Only flaw in the order was the steak sandwich. Avoid this one. So basic. I love Lee's. I go there pretty much every time I'm in Racine. My favorite thing is to get a #3 on Italian bread with a side of chips, a peach Snapple, and a cosmic brownie. You can get all of that and so much more at Lee's. Occasionally, I also get the seafood salad, which is equally delicious! Everything is made quickly and the service is always great. Best Deli by far in Racine. You have to have a godfather sub. They are the best and loaded with meat. Enough for two meals. On Sundays I beleive they discount their subs, even though they are pretty inexpensive to begin with! read more

Italian bread (looks like white bread but more flavor and more capable of holding everything I want piled on top), freshly sliced meat and freshly sliced cheese, need I go on? Very well then, add peppers and french dressing if you want to be like me! Get two sandwiches for around 10 bucks if you have a friend you love enough to share a sandwich with and you think you can get it to them before you start gobbling said sandwich. Do a little recycling and take home the FREE BREAD they give away each day because ... they don't use that part of the bread I guess :-s (quality control tastes delish). Whatever you do, get one of these sandwiches. The only draw back is they do not care much about me trying to be all metro in their shop so they do not offer any 1/2 sandwich, 1/2 salad deals. You won't find any Gorgonzola cheese, walnuts or cranberries here. Just good sandwiches and cookout salads (potato salad, fruit salad, Cole slaw, etc.) which I hear are pretty good! For dessert, peruse their grocery aisles to pick up an 800 calorie honey bun slathered with thick white icing like we used to eat in school lunches before apple dippers made their infamous debut! read more

But this is Racine, and if you do something right, and are really great at it. people always comeback. The exterior and sometimes the interior don't always look tip top, but that much traffic in and out, is bound to have its price. read more

Excellent subs and you can customize them however you'd like. (Try chopped boiled eggs on a cold meat sub with French dressing on Italian bread - Grrrreat!) This is a combo neighborhood grocery store and deli. Long and narrow, the traffic of people in such a small place is uncomfortable. You end up standing in the grocery aisles (and people watching) while waiting for your sub. It's all worth it for these subs! read more

Great stop for Subs in Racine and everyone knows ot. Actually have a pretty big and tasty warm food selections as well. I grew up enjoying Lee's subs as a special treat, and it was definitely a special treat to go back. In fact, we went there 3 times in the less-than 3 days we were in town! We only intended to go once, or maybe twice, but I couldn't help myself! My partner loved them too, even though they didn't bring back the same memories. A great sandwich! We have been getting sandwiches from Lees Deli for 45 years and have never had a complaint. Today, that changed. We got 3 sandwiches for lunch and they were horrible, and I was embarrassed because I had told my co-workers how awesome they were, and again, they were terrible. I called to complain, and the man who answered the phone was rude, and told me he would make note of it. Not the kind of response that makes me want to go back any more, nor will I be singing their praises any longer. What a shame!!! read more
