Gyros King & Pizzeria is easily one of the best spots in Aurora. As someone who has had Middle Eastern food in the Middle East, calling the food here "authentic" almost feels like an understatement. The flavors are incredibly genuine, everything tastes fresh, and you can tell there's real care behind the food. You truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The chicken shawarma is fantastic, and the hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, salads, rice, and everything else I've tried have consistently been excellent. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, the quality is always there. What makes this place even more special is the owner. He is incredibly generous, hardworking, and genuinely cares about his customers and community. I haven't been here in years even though it is literally down the street from my house. I am not sure why because their food has always been great and the staff is always awesome. The other night I was feeling like a gyro and we decided to stop in for dinner. The place was dead. Like not a single person walked in while we dined there. Makes me kind of sad that they weren't busier. I ordered the gyro sandwich combo that comes with fries and a can of soda. My husband also got a gyro and an order of falafels. Everything came out fresh, hot and absolutely delicious. Their gyros are larger here than most places and their tzatziki is thick and amazing. I love it so much. Great guy working there. First time here for lunch. I had the gyro wrap combination, which included fries and a drink with the wrap. My wife had the gyro plate with no cucumber in the salad or sauce, which the restaurant was kindly and easily able to accommodate. Both of our gyros were tasty and filling. BEWARE! I ordered a gyro, extra tatziki and dolmades. The gyro and the tatziki had a LONG black hair in it, I'm blonde. The dolmades were so hard I had to use a knife to cut into them. They were so old and tasted God awful. Just be careful coming here, they have good reviews but do not trust them. OH! and the restaurant won't refund me. read more

Great Gyros, Communication could be better. Have what you want ordered memorized/known beforehand for the best experience. That said, the staff was still helpful and mostly nice. If you want a gyro in pita bread, you will order it as a "sandwich". If you want extra meat, cheese/feta, sauce, or etc you must specify you want it INSIDE the sandwich. The "sandwich" comes with Tzatziki sauce. Yes they have feta. The indoor experience is fine in terms of space, definitely on the smaller side. In terms of ambiance they have Arab music + Turkish coffee + Moroccan, Greek, and similar workers. Not a huge drink selection and didn't see anything alcoholic, but a pub is literally just a few doors down. Thirty minutes ago my husband and I ordered two Gryo sandwiches, baba ghanoush, and falafel. They forgot the tzatziki sauce that we usually get with a sandwich. So my husband drove back to the restaurant to get it. They said it was already in the sandwich. The scantly dollop of tzatziki sauce was not enough. So they had the nerve to charge him $2.00 for the sauce that used to come free. Really, the last order of he got Gyro sandwiches, the sauce on the side was included. I have been going here on and off for the last 20 years, except for when the place was a BBQ joint for a stint. I guess loyalty and support doesn't mean a thing nowadays. A hidden gem. Unfortunately they've raised their prices but that's everywhere these days. Supporting a family business in a chain food desert! Why have a gas station burrito when you could stop in here for the real deal. Personally I'm not wild about their pizza. Something about the crust doesn't "slap" for me. It's good for sure but just not my personal jam. The fries though. Amazing. They've switched the type of fries a few times but that seasoning is the real star. Gyros. Falafel. Rice. Greek salad. A few desert options. Several soups to choose from.Grab a gyro or grab a full plate with numerous sides and sauces. It's all amazing and prepared quickly and with love. They even have a few desert options if you want multiple courses. I believe they have delivery via Grubhub or DoorDash. I've always walked over for pickup after ordering on their website. If you are at Dry Dock Brewing next door they'll hand deliver your order. Another perk of their website is a rewards program. So many points per dollar add up to a $5 coupon off your total order. Inside they have window bar seating and a handful of tables are available for dine in. I have had gyros and a bunch of different states and this one just stands out about the rest. The meat is super fresh and perfectly cooked. I can never wait until I get home to eat it because the smell is phenomenal and it just makes your mouth water. If you haven't tried them, you should because they're gyros are outstanding. The restaurant itself is tiny, but it seems that a lot of people order it to go. The staff is always friendly and you get served quickly. This is my first time visiting this place, and it won't be my last. This is a small family-owned business where the owner is very friendly. I ordered the shawarma plate and a garlic dip side. Compared to other places, the shawarma does not taste like a week old piece of crusty spam. Instead it was softer and the rice was just the way I liked it, not too greasy. The garlic dip is my new favorite. It's so buttery and strong, it may make you single with the breath it gives you. I have given this place three chances now and each time they mess up my order and I order to go and they don't give me any condiments for the fries they don't give me any cutlery to eat with. We went in a little after 10am on a slow weekend. The place is run by an elderly couple and on that day it was only the gentleman working. He was genuinely sweet and friendly. He had just turned on the fryer and was chopping up some veggies. A fresh new batch of baklava was in the oven. I also saw a big bowl of puréed chickpeas for hummus. So yes, everything is prepared fresh from scratch everyday but they probably didn't expect anyone that early on a weekend. We weren't in a hurry so we ordered falafel sandwiches and sat down for a short wait. Oh, man. I feel bad about this one because the owners were very nice and I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately the most I can give Gyros King in good conscience is two stars - one for the friendly service, another for the fresh falafel, which was truly delicious. I also liked the dressing on the salad, though the salad itself was just iceberg and tomatoes. The rest of the meal was not good. I ordered the combo platter which came with salad, falafel, rice, hummus, baba ghanouj, chicken, and gyros. The rice appeared to be instant white rice that was spiced with a little bit of curry to turn it yellow. It was mushy and flavorless. The hummus and baba were watery and bland. I expected something like chicken kabab or kafta but what I got was a plain, unseasoned chicken breast cut into slices. It looked like the kind of frozen chicken you'd get at the grocery store to make sandwiches with. The gyros was edible, but not great - it was a little over cooked, salty, and not hot. The pita was store bought and served in the bag it came in - not the fresh pita I've been spoiled with at other establishments. The presentation is normal. I LOVE THE HUMMUS! It has a little bit of jalapeño heat but you can still taste the hummus. I also like the pitas they use. So maybe I haven't scoured Denver on a quest for the ultimate gyro, but I wouldn't exactly call Denver gyro mecca, so I won't waste my time doing that. Chicago, however, has a large Greek population and it's a good place to go to get an idea of what an authentic gryo *should* taste like. Based on past Denver gyro experience, I definitely wasn't expecting much. But, when I walked in and saw an older Greek couple manning the kitchen and counter, I thought hmmm, this could be good! Plus, one of the tables had a Greek family waiting for their food. Another good sign! I ordered the gyro meal which came with a gyro sandwich, fries, and a drink for $7.50. The fries were very good - perfectly fried and great flavor. The gyro was huge! No shortage of meat, sauce, and assorted toppings (see the picture I posted). And the gryo bread was great too. A lot of places have a regular bready pita, but Gyros King uses the real stuff, or at least it's what I call the "real" stuff. It's hard to explain, but real gyro bread has kind of a rubbery texture and doesn't fall apart on you when you stretch it around all of that yummy goodness inside. Friday March 21st 2014. Time was about 18:30hrs ish. YES, this is DEFINITELY a Mom and Pop establishment. YES, you ordered at the counter. You are welcome to seat yourself where ever you want to. From their simple menu, we decide to order these following items : 2 order of Gyros Meals that comes with Fries and Drink ($7.50) each hence it was $15. Hubs also decide to order the Arabic Coffee which was $2.50. Our Dinner was about $20 with tax. We waited for abit for our food to be ready, coz before we were there, there are like 2 other patrons waiting to have their Order To Go. The Meals which include Fries and Drinks starts from $6.50 if you were to order the Falafel. Then the rest will be $7.50, choices of Gyros, Chicken OR Chicken Shawarma. Salads are between $7.25 and $8.50. Big Plates are from $9.75 and $12.99. The Dining area can seat about 15 to 20 people at one time. We decide to dine in. 4 stars for the service from the staffs. They will send your food to where you are seating. 3.5 Stars for overall experience. 3 Stars At Best For Food. The portion with price is reasonable, and doable. I think when we received our food, due to the cold salad that they put in the Pita Bread, with the Gyro Meat, makes the rest of the Gyro, COLD. *Sad Face* It DOES NOT WOW us as much as I was hoping for. Maybe next time, if we were to return, I would order the Gyro with Plate instead. Perhaps from there, my review could differ. Well, the food was decent, not WOW. However, not too thrilled I paid a "service charge" for "website and mobile costs" ordering (almost $2) and I picked up my meal. I gave a nice tip like I normally do but looking at the bill I needed to look a bit closer. Personally, just charge more for the food and the consumer doesn't see that they are responsible for your website/mobile ordering app. That seems just odd to me. read more
