We capped off an amazing fall weekend by getting ice cream from here. I tried something that was completely new to me called the white chocolate raspberry truffle and my friend ordered two scoops of the mint chocolate chip ice cream. After all of these years living in the city, I honestly never even knew that this ice cream store even existed. I should have known because it's connected to the Capital One Arena mall, and I have surely passed through here a half dozen times before. They were open past 7:30 on a Sunday night which was a plus because several other restaurants had already closed. I had a very disappointing and honestly concerning experience at a Häagen-Dazs location today. After purchasing smoothies, my 1-year-old son slipped and hit the back of his head, causing a noticeable bump. As any parent would, I immediately tried to get something cold to reduce the swelling. I approached an employee who was filling a container with ice and politely asked if I could have just a few pieces. Before the employee I was speaking to could even respond, another staff member abruptly interrupted and stated that they "don't give out ice." I calmly offered to pay for the ice, and she still refused. Trying to find any solution, I then asked if I could at least have a cup of ice water. Again, I was told no--that they only sell bottled water. At this point, my toddler was visibly hurt, and I was simply trying to help him. I then asked if they had a first aid kit, which I assumed would be standard in a business open to the public. Instead of showing concern or even checking, I was met with the same dismissive attitude and no assistance. The lack of empathy and basic human decency in this situation was shocking. Policies aside, this was a small child who had just been injured. Refusing to help in any way--even after I offered to pay--was unnecessary and unacceptable. I hope management takes this seriously and provides better training to staff on how to handle situations involving injured customers, especially children. A little compassion goes a long way, and today, there was none. read more

I visited here on Tuesday evening. This is located in Chinatown district. It wasnt very busy at all. The prices vs the sizes were ridiculous, in my opinion. A mini is $5.75, a small is $7.25, and a regular is $8.25. I got the Irish crème brownie ice cream in a regular size cup to share with my son. Fortunately, I saved 20% after checking in via Yelp. 2 Asian workers and security working on 1/10/2024 around 6:30 were rude and racist. My friends and I always come here after events and love the two Ethiopian man and woman that work here however. On 1/10/2024 I sat down to wait for a friend who was parking and adamantly wanted ice cream. Again we always frequent this Haagen Dazs. I sat down to wait for them as they would be in in a few short minutes. While I was waiting the security officer who was sitting at a table in front of me told me that to sit I would need to purchase something. I told him I was waiting for my friend who would be in shortly. He turned and continued on his phone. Then, the Asian worker in the Haagen Dazs yelled to me that for me to sit there I needed to order something. I told her that my friend would be ordering in a few short minutes when they arrived. She abruptly told me no and that I needed to get up. I said okay got up and stood. Then walks over a Caucasian woman and sits down. The security guard says nothing to her. The Asian worker yells at the woman that in order to sit, she needed to purchase something. The Caucasian woman says that she's waiting for a friend (the exact same thing I said. The Asian woman says okay and proceeds to allow her to sit. Amazed at the interaction I then sit down again, only for the security guard to then tell me again that I needed to order something to sit, as he still at this point says absolutely nothing to the Caucasian woman. I have never had such blatant racism happen and it is very disheartening as I have grown up coming into this establishment and has been a fond memory of mine. First, the two layers of vanilla ice cream were delicious. Creamy and sweet. I also liked the strawberry purée they put in. It contained pieces of delicious fresh strawberries. The chocolate sauce on top was also very creamy. However, I did not really like the rest of the Banana Split with Vanilla Ice Cream. The whipped cream on top was light and fresh, but lacked flavor. The bananas in the split were pitiful. The lady freshly cut the bananas, but her hand was obviously on the bananas. She did not have any gloves on either. One of my friends got a small chocolate cup, which was tiny and was nearly half-melted by the time she could eat it. The staff here is fine, but nothing spectacular. So we thought let's get some ice cream...so after walking a few blocks we found ourselves in Chinatown and found a Haagen-Dazs. Score! This is exactly what we needed. Place was nicely decorated, definitely looks different than a standard ice cream place because of its location. My mother ordered chocolate, my brother cookies and creme and I ordered a caramel ice cream. Many many delicious mmmmsss and spoonfuls later we were refreshed, full, and super happy! And best thing... the terrible taste of that terrible pizza was out of our mouth! Nasty ungrateful owners. Paid for a regular size and it wasn't even filled the entire way. We each got a milkshake and it was over $22 for a chain ice cream shop. Aside from that, the moment you sit at their tables, you are verbally bullied by the nasty ungrateful lady behind the counter telling you that you can't sit without buying. The poor girl we witnessed get bullied was forced to buy ice cream before her friends arrived in order for her to sit, despite planning to buy ice cream with her friends. Owners like this disgust me and I would do everything to avoid this place at all costs. Save your money and go elsewhere where they appreciate customers. This is one of the Haagan Daz shops that i frequently visit and its always good. Whether the lines are long or short they never rush you if you want to sample a few flavors before you pick the winner(s). I usually get their regular size ice cream in a cup but I've also had one their their shakes before which was great. If you get the regular size, you can choose up to two flavors. Drove across town in traffic to go to this place for ice cream. I walked in the door and was greeted with rolling eyes from the employee. No worries, I'll get the Oreo dazzler, everyone loves Oreo and it's a staple, right? Nope, I was told she was out of Oreo too.... How do you run out of Oreo? I left. This Häagen-Dazs is the best. They're generous with portions, the staff is lovely + professional, and the location is extremely convenient to access from both 6th and 7th st. The pandemic has decimated Gallery Place/Chinatown, and though the mall (Gallery Place) is much quieter, the charm of the live music outside + the quiet seating area inside the atrium of the mall gives you options of where you want to enjoy your frozen treat.
