Great quality product and customer service. They are definitely the leader of Honda and Acura reman transmissions.

We have a 2002 Acura TL Type S owned since new. Its a fantastic car,except for its known prone to failure 5AT. Even though I have kept up with the proper maintenance service for its transmission it began to fail at 145K miles. I did the 3X3 fluid changes, cleaned all solenoid screens, cleaned and tested all solenoids and replaced pressure switches. I have also replaced the external spin on transmission filter. There is an internal filter that cannot be replaced unless the transmission is taken down and disassembled. I did my research 2 years ago for the eventual replacement of my original transmission. H&A came up, with some reviews here and from the Acurazine forum that I follow. Those guys recommend the AV6 swap, which also worked. I was more interested in keeping an all parts original car. I contacted H&A directly to get more information about the remanufacturing process. Andrea and Debbie from customer service provided me information on highly rated installer near me. I also spoke to Freddie who is the shop foreman. He answered my questions regarding clutch pack materials, the oil jet cooler that was installed in the 2004 recall. He went on to explain the machining process, and the addition of a metal sleeve on the case. They also agreed to use my original core which I preferred. H&A picked up my core, and delivered the remanufactured unit a few days later. I had Acura of Glendale do the take down and re-installation. Everything went as planned. On schedule, and no surprises. I had them replace the 2 transmission mounts and the rear main seal as well. The car drives as I remember it when new! All the shift point are spot on. The grip on each gear was firm. No leaks. I had the service manager take pictures of the remanufactured unit prior to install. It was clean. I can actually see all the pen markings on the bolt heads, meaning those were properly torqued. I wish I can add those pictures to this post. It has been 3 months since the repair. We have taken the car on long road trips out of town. I am confident to drive it anywhere. We are true believers in H&A Transmissions and are repeat customers! My husband researched many transmission rebuilders and H&A is the ONLY Honda/Acura rebuilder that uses OEM Honda/Acura friction parts and bearings in order to insure that the unit will last for years. H&A even included an external trans cooler as part of his transmission unit. He had his H&A Transmission installed back in 2011 and it is still going strong. That's six (6) years and 125,000+ miles of brutal stop and go freeway driving! Now, just recently, my factory trans failed in my 2004 Acura TL and we are having another H&A unit installed in my car as well. We have complete confidence in H&A. Updated 11/8/2017 A word to the wise. Pull back the curtain and look at the reviews which didn't make the cut. I've never seen so many positive posts rejected for one reason or another. Looks like shenannigans to me. I've never been so screwed over by a business, ever. WATCH OUT. My experience with H&A was a complete disaster. I seriously doubt I was ever sold a rebuilt transmission, probably just a salvage unit that they hoped would last 12 months. You must buy the extended warranty or you are surely screwed. And even then, when the unit fails, in my case an Acura TL unit, you are out time, labor, and will just get another substandard unit. My second transmission didn't go 8 months before acting up, and I ended up just giving the otherwise perfect car away. Transmissions must be a tough business, and even a great mechanic like mine in Santa Rosa can't help, if he's given crap parts/units to work with. If your shop orders transmissions from H&A, be wary and make sure there's a clear path to satisfaction if/when your rebuilt transmission begins to fail. read more

Been buying transmissions here for years without fail. I recently had my first issue with a unit that i didnt purchase the warranty coverage for and although it was slightly outside their 30 day satisfaction period they took care of me anyways due to some circumstances that were outside of both our controls. stand up people over here. highly recommended over any private rebuild shop. read more

I disagree with the review from the last Yelper. But I guess everyone has their own opinions about this place. The ladies are pretty great with customer service and getting you the best price. I've used them with all our Honda transmission. Mind you their is always a bad apple in a bunch but we just need to deal with them accordingly. I am extremely disappointed in this company and I have nothing good to say about them. If I could give them no stars, I would. November 2014, I had my '98 Honda Accord transmission replaced at a shop in Encinitas, CA. The trans came from H&A transmissions in Ranch Cucamongo, CA. It was under a one year warranty. After 8 months, it was shifting very hard on all levels. I drove it to Joe's Engine Repair (in my hometown) on July 20th and the shop checked it out. They contacted H&A and told them the trans was faulty. H&A had them run all kinds of tests. Well, it still didn't work. On the 22nd, they sent a sensor down and it ran even worse. Paul called H&A AGAIN and they finally sent another trans to Joe's and it was put on. I just picked my car up today, and am very pleased. After numerous days and hours working on my car, H&A is paying them next to nothing and making Joe's wait 6 weeks to receive a check for their time and labor. I am on a fixed income and had to rent a car for 5 days so I could get to work. Vanessa said they will reimburse me for the car rental. Only time will tell, maybe I will have to wait 6 weeks also. All this added time and expense could have been avoided if H&A would have listened to Paul at Joe's Engine Repair. As for H&A, beware of their shoddy merchandise. read more

I had my Acura CL's transmission go south recently. Working with H&A and a local shop to purchase and install, I could not be happier! During the process I had the opportunity to speak with one of the techs who rebuilds the units who shared specifics about how their rebuilds differ from their competitors. This really put my mind at ease, considering we're talking thousands of dollars. When all was completed, the tranny now shifts very smoothly and runs correctly the first time. I recently had a transmission replaced at a local transmission shop who used H&A for the replacement. They were super fast and delivered it earlier than anticipated. I was in a major bind and had to call over to see if anything could be done to expedite the process and spoke to Vanessa there. She was very helpful and super friendly.
