Idk how I've lived in Macon my entire life and have never been to H & H but I found out what I've been missing! Stopped in for brunch and I had a chicken biscuit with bacon jam, cheddar, and pimento cheese on it and it was phenomenal! The hashbrown casserole was not so great -- barely like warm, under salted, and mostly tasted like mashed potatoes. We found this place on a whim. Hungry and tired, we just wanted some breakfast while traveling from KC. I called and got the kitchen manager, who assured us he would still serve us breakfast. Im an Allman Brothers fan and I knew they are from Macon, GA so I thought I'd come thru and check things out. They called into this restaurant often and there are some cool picks of them on the walls. The restaurant has a wonderful vibe to it. True to form, the clientele is diverse. I had the 'Ramblin Man. Had to do it, it's one of my favorite songs. Anyway, It's something you don't get in restaurants these days. If you youngins want an experience in a restaurant like in the movies, this is a good place to check out. The food was great and everyone was really friendly. I enjoyed talking to the waitresses and the people at the tables near me. That's what it's all about after all. You can't not feel and miss the music history and see all the great memorabilia. This place was really small but the tables were spaced out. Our server Amanda was the only one wearing a mask helping customers. No one in the kitchen wore masks either. That being said. The food was really good. I got waffle breakfast with bacon and eggs. Cooked perfectly. Actually I think the waffles were porky made but so far my favorite waffles ever. They had a crisp like they were over cooked but they were perfect. Also got deviled eggs. They were just like how my mother made them but it had a little too much mustard I think otherwise it was exactly the same. We also got chicken an a biscuit which was good. I didn't try it but I was told the chicken was crispy and the biscuit was moist. Customers didn't wear masks and the place got full quick. First time at H&H the food was good. We had the Soul Rolls for appetizer and I had the Midnight Rider Biscuit. Husband had the Brisket Hash Breakfast. The brisket was smoked perfect and the flavor was delicious. The service was a little slow and the waiter kept forgetting what I had to drink and the refills were very slow however they seemed a little under staff. That's why the 4 star. read more

This is a small, unassuming restaurant with incredible food! We went for brunch on Sunday since it was one of the few places open, and we are so glad we did. My biscuit was huge, and the chicken breast was bigger! The grits were nice and thick, not runny. The fruit was freshly cut, not flavorless chunks in syrup. My husband had the cubed steak and mashed potatoes and loved it. You could tell the food was homemade and fresh. I highly recommend H and H, it has great food and a great story! read more

I had the midnight rider and it was good... Had it my way the next day and it was amazing!!! The bacon onion jam was too intense for me unfortunately. But the egg cooked over medium was perfect! The chicken breast was moist, but the biscuit was a tad bit dry. The fruit was a perfect contrast! The deviled eggs were a bit sweet, but added a sprinkle of salt & pepper and it improved the taste... Fabulous veggies and the fried catfish fillet is the best anywhere. Try the fried chicken, it's fried dark and is somehow always moist.

H&H has good service, a lack luster dining area and average food. I had the fried pork shop, which tased pretty good. The collard greens and macaroni and cheese were average. My mom had the turkey with the same sides. Be aware the turkey isn't anything we've ever seen at a soul food restaurant. read more

We also loved the country fried steak, fried chicken, collard greens, mashed potatoes and brown gravy. The brown gravy is also used in their beef tips I believe. BISCUITS!! These are by far the best biscuits I have ever had. We have talk to all of our friends about these biscuits and each time someone visits this is where we take them for breakfast. My usual has become the Midnight Rider because hello biscuit, chicken, pimento cheese AND bacon marmalade - you have to be bonkers to not eat this. Hash brown casserole is definitely something that was new to me when I got to Macon and it was not what I expected but it is not another new favorite way to consume potatoes (lets be real people potatoes are the greatest thing ever). I did enjoy the chicken and waffles but they were not my all time favorite. I once had these chicken and waffles in Ohio that have become my comparing point and well they made it really unfair. Nonetheless, these were still very yummy. My favorite thing from here though: their homemade blueberry jam. It even as the blueberry chunks still in it and OMG when you put this and their honey butter together on a biscuit you know you feel your arteries telling you to stop but your actual heart is telling it to shut up and enjoy the cholesterol and the sugars. If they made this jam to be sold I would buy it all the time. I would live my life with this blueberry jam if possible. read more
