Special of evening ... Mediterranean fish barramundi with summer risotto and asparagus
    Jennifer A.

We just had dinner at the Iron Rail. First of all, we did have the best waiter, Jedediah, who was so attentive and informative!. For an appetizer, we shared fried green tomatoes stacked with shrimp salsa, Louisiana Style. The tomatoes were so crunchy with no sogginess at all. Definitely, these were great fried green tomatoes! We had the same entree, a very mild fish barramundi, that was perfectly sautéed. It was served on a bed of summer risotto and asparagus. The sauce was very tasty! We were not sure if we had any room for dessert but we decided to get the banana pudding because it is one of our favorites. It was "real" with the vanilla wafers crumbled top and with wafers served on the side. Also, there was a generous serving of vanilla ice cream served in a separate plate with vanilla wafers. This new restaurant is a true gem and a wonderful addition to the Bolingbroke area. It is close to Macon, too. We had reservations and I recommend that if possible. This is a popular restaurant and I think it will stay popular. We can't wait to go back!!!!

My friend had the country fried steak and vegetables and even though she's a picky eater she loved every bite.

I know they offer other food, but we only go for breakfast and I only order the pancakes because they are so amazing! I've eaten a bit of my husband's bacon, and it was delicious too. We didn't want or wait for anything! The decor inside was modern yet still cozy, perfect blend of home vibe with some modern touches. The outside still has that small time feel. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! I had the steak biscuit and I'm telling you this (definitely homemade) biscuit (so much yum) was the size of my plate as was the chicken fried steak! I ordered a side of sausage gravy to dip it in which I definitely recommend. The gravy was so delicious! My dining companion got the biscuits and gravy (tasting their gravy is what made me want my own side of it). We also ordered an appetizer of the cheese balls with marinara which was a hit as well. We also ordered some meals to go since we were dropping off food. I didn't get to try those but I did get a bite of the fried green tomatoes appetizer. These are the best I've had in so long, if ever! They know what they are doing and they do it right! This is the place for good southern cookin'

It's nothing fancy, the cafe is in what looks like a redone modular home. You order your meat and two sides at the counter and get your own drinks. The iced tea was good. There are two long tables in the center so you eat family style but on the Sunday afternoon we went we were the only ones at one of the tables. They were doing a brisk takeout business. The lady who waited on us was very nice. My DD got the grilled pork chop, black eyed peas and macaroni and cheese with a hoe cake. I had pulled turkey with dressing and turkey gravy, sweet potato casserole and collards with a roll (I should have picked the hoe cake). Everything was fabulous with special accolades to the black eyed peas, the mac & cheese and the collards. There were lots of choices too with everything from fried shrimp to chitterlings and ox tails. If you find yourself in Eatonton and you like a meat and two sides search out Ms. Stellas, you won't be sorry.

There were plenty other options in both the special and cooked-to -order menu, I just don't remember them all. There were about 8-10 yummy sides to choose from. I had meat-loaf with brown gravy (could have been ketchup), collard greens, mashed potatoes with brown gravy and cornbread. I enjoyed it all. My companion had a fried pork-chop and it looked delicious. He seemed very pleased. It's a small old building that's kinda out of the way. It doesn't look like much from the road. If you happened to be driving on its back road you could easily miss it if you weren't looking for it. Found with Apple Maps. It was counter service. Small dining room. It was clean as far as I could tell. Single bathroom was old but well maintained. They had several takeout orders while I was there at late lunch time. The dining room was pretty full with three groups including mine. My only criticism was the fountain drinks were very limited. There were no diet sodas. There was unsweet tea available though.
