The dressings room lighting is the darkest in any store I've been in. The lighting is darker than a romantic fancy restaurant. I'm not old, but I cannot see how the clothes fit, which is the whole purpose of a dressing room. Disappointing, compared to the H&M stores at the Beverly Center and Westside Pavillion. Much smaller, clothes are crammed more tightly together, and yet selection is a mere fraction of the others. I was actually walking around the store, looking for additional sections that I might have missed. I've always had a spending problem everytime I entered an H&M store but definitely not this time. Unlike Forever 21, H&M offers you quality AND great prices. They also have pretty amazing trendy jewelry. When sales were still crazy cheap, I got a thick $5 sweater and a HUGE faux leather $10 bag, that I actually started using as luggage. Deals like that are hard to find at this H&M now because they're sales stuff is mostly ugly garb, but I wouldn't say it's impossible to get a steal deal. So glad H&M came to Santa Anita! After a long day at work, what better way to relax than to go shopping! Two girls on tight budgets, my coworker and I were so excited to see H&M at this mall. And two stories of selection?! It couldn't get better than that! H&M has always been a hit or miss for me. I could go crazy and buy a bunch of stuff one season and nothing the next. On this weekday visit, there were several items I liked, but ultimately I just bought a cute and flashy turquoise jacket. This H&M had the casual Divided line, men's and children's on the first floor, with the women's professional and dressy and accessories on the second. With that much room, I had hoped that they would carry more accessories, but they didn't. Overall, their floor layout is similar to all other H&M stores, but most importantly, they had lots of stuff in size 2 (it's hard to find in SF). Yay for me! You can't be too cool wearing H&M. It's like the Neo-GAP, only trendier. Let me clear that up: you can be stylish, but it's not that unique. However H&M designs, it's still mass-produced. Mass-produced items are rarely unqiue. Some people are stylish, and can incorporate H&M into their wardrobe. Some can't, and try too hard. Buying everything at one store, because it's ____(whatever it is). It is turning into some sort of Neo-Abercrombie, but less obvious. There's no big, obnoxious labels/brand-name on H&M clothing! I applauded the Swedish for making a very smart move. Until I saw the litte creature/mammal logo on the shirts. Damn. I'm just throwing my opinion out. Visit the store once to get rid of curiosity. For all the attention that H&M gets, it's a decent store but a bit overexposed...kinda like Beyonce, but in a less flattering way. Their prices are low, but stuff off the sale racks at Macys are usually much higher quality. I came in here last year when it first opened and, having visited the flagship Powell store in SF, didn't find anything really eye catching in the men's department. I dropped by again last month and noticed that they've started stocking up suit separates for men, charging $50 for a sportcoat and $25 for matching dress pants...and when I tried it on, the fit of the suit was amazing! Sizing was difficult, though, and I had to look through several styles before I could find a coat and pair of pants that were the right size. I've never purchased a suit at ~$80 before (not even at Target). Service was friendly, but not pushy. Love the suit! read more

You can't see it right now, but I'm doing a little dance. I was so happy when H&M came to Southern California, I peed a little. Initially, I'd gone to the one on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, but I ventured to the Santa Anita Mall for nostalgia's sake and to get the maximum bang out of the mall experience. (Sometimes a girl just has to go to the mall!) This location has two stories and the staff seems really nice. Not that I don't like the Pasadena location, but this store has way more stuff and more space. Two-story shop, which is nice, located inside the Santa Anita mall. The prices can be amazing for the styles they offer, but the quality shows. I bought a black "overcoat" jacket from them for 50% off, (total of $50) for use in Paris in December. After a couple days there, the material started creating lint balls on itself. Lint balls? Is that the term? Anyway, you could see that the coat wasn't of much quality when I was picking them off constantly. You get what you pay for, right? I actually really like H&M, but I very rarely buy anything there. As I've said in a review of a different H&M location, I've really only bought stuff from non-U.S. H&M's. The prices are really reasonable and the quality isn't too bad. This particular one is pretty nice. It's got a nice location in the Westfield Santa Anita. AND, I actually did end up getting something this time. Although I didn't pay for it. A bought it for me as a gift, which was so super duper cool of him. He is absolutely the BEST boyfriend ever. I had seen a purple jacket in the window of another H&M we had driven by the day before and mentioned that I thought it was cute. I just come here to keep dropping clothes off for their textiles collection. Thousands of tons of textiles (namely fabric from unwanted clothing) end up in landfills every year. So H&M has a program where you bring in your unwanted clothes and they send them off to get recycled into things like building insulation. For bringing in those items, you get a voucher for 15% off a single item the next time you shop. I give those cards to my siblings whom enjoy H&M clothing. Personally I'm unimpressed with the label. I've only bought one thing- a really nice vintage-styled coat from H&M about eight years ago and I have never found anything else that I like from that store before or after that. The one at Westfield Santa Anita is nice and clean, albeit a little claustrophobic. They just have a lot of stuff and not enough walking room. The employees are nice enough but really slow. I'm just used to be really efficient in what I do in consideration for others' time, so sometimes slow people bother me. read more

H & M always has a soft spot in my heart. Ever since I'd lived in England in Fall of 2005, did I go ga ga for stylish yet moderately priced duds. That being said I have begun to visit this location in my native Southern California. While I find the H&M here to not be all inclusive as the other stores in Europe or even San Francisco for that fact. However, this store has really good selection and friendly, helpful staff. I love the dressing rooms here, which are co-ed and have the best mirrors for checking yourself, both front ways and back! On this visit I picked up a couple of button down shirts, a pair of pants, and black blazer and tie for the new big boy job that I just landed. The IKEA of Clothing H&M: All of the marketing made it seem like the ultimate everyday apparel store for me. It seemed fair-market, non-child-labor-exploitative, it conveyed a "green" image, designer collaborative cool, fashionable, different, but most importantly, "cheap" due to some cool wholesale buyer / supplier network strategy marketing dealing type o' thing. Sounds like IKEA? Before I proceed any further, one really cool thing about H&M is their return policy. No receipt needed. Items will be compared and pro-rated based on current pricing models, however. (This return policy almost strangely sounds targeted towards the youth, which I'm a smidgen older than them). Back to IKEA similarities: The stuff *is* cheaply made and oh-so-closely-yet-barely trendy. They attempt to mimic leading designs, but call it mission accomplished because they deliver at half price. Their dressier selection, AFAIK only available locally at the Beverly Center, is priced similarly to eveyone else's business casual / dressy stuff, are not as enticing, and are definitely sized completely off. Yes, I know the sizing scale is based on the European specs, which I applaud! horray for skinny (which I'm more of vs. fat), but the crotch hem is absolutely ridiculous! I suppose Europeans also have miniscule phalluses, as well?? All in all, as the only thing I've consistently purchased at IKEA that feels like good deals are their lamps and live plants and plant pots, same goes with H&M with their socks and underwear (well, t-shirts really) for me. read more

I was told that I cannot call the store directly to ask my questions, but instead they would relay the questions over to the store and then get back to me. What kind of stupid system is that?????????????? If I want to call the store directly, I should be able to call the store directly and speak with the people there!!!!!!! First off let me say this was the WORST customer service I have ever received at a retail store. I shop at H&M pretty often and for the last 3 years have bought from their high end designer line collaborations but never am I shopping at H&M Arcadia ever! On November 26, I went in line during my lunch break to return a couple of items I had purchased from the Versace collection. Brand new, never worn, tags attached, but I just could not find my receipt at the time. I stood in line for about 5 minutes and when I approached the cash register, Kirsten informed me she could not return the items because I did not have a receipt. She did not even offer to give me store credit which I know they will do if there is no receipt. So upon getting no where with her and trying to find my receipt, I asked to speak with the manager. The manager, Melinda, comes over and tells me the same thing that because their store did not carry the Versace collection that they could not issue me any kind of refund and she blatantly told me to go back to the Americana store where I had purchased the items from and they can reprint the receipt. I said, "This is ridiculous, you guys always give me such a hard time with returns here that I don't think I'm ever going to shop here again." There was no, "I'm sorry, let me accommodate you this one time and give you a store credit" or any type of customer satisfaction and I was appalled having worked in retail myself for quite some time! So I gathered my items and as I had said I wasn't going to be shopping there again, another sales associate, Mackenzie, sarcastically tells me "Ok good" as in we don't need your business here anyways. I was in complete shock! Never in my life have I been treated so poorly as a customer wanting to do a simple return of 2 $34.95 items. I left furious and disrespected! As I went back in the mall, I ended up finding the receipt and going back to the store and returned the items while getting the store manager name, Bryant and store number, which Mackenzie again sarcastically tells me like I'm some kind of idiot that they were the Arcadia store when I was asking for their store number which Kirsten told me was 120. I will be writing a letter to their Corporate Headquarters in regards to this matter. Overall: Worst Customer Serice Ever! Never shop with smart ass Mackenzie especially who was big, dark haired and had bangs and glasses, or their airhead Women's manager Melinda, or seasonal employee Kirsten as these women will not accommodate you in anyway! Worst customer service ever. A person who identified herself as the store manager LIZ is the worst passive aggressive, unfriendly, antagonistic, unprofessional person. I visited the store with my returns- with receipt, all tags attached- no problem. However i didn't have my credit card because I lost it and I was waiting for the new card to be sent. I show up and wait as LIZ talks about her weekend to another worker, wait as she takes out every single piece of clothing I was returning and buttons them all up and placed them on a hanger BEFORE she even started ringing up my return. After all of that, we get to the end and she asks for my credit card and I explained that I didn't have it, she becomes more dismissive and rude- throwing my items back in the bag and telling me "come back with the card". No options to save my time, no explanation of this absurd polity that I need the receipt and credit card. Awful. read more

So happy that this one recently opened up, even though we've already had two in the L.A. area. I like this one most because it has a men's section, unlike the women's only store in Pasadena, and it seems to be more open and easy to navigate than the one in Beverly Center. No, the clothes aren't the greatest, but you can find some pretty good deals for everyday clothes and basics like coats and hats. It's not always dirt-cheap either, especially for the women, although my boyfriend bought half of the men's store for less than $100. I still love H&M just for the sheer volume of clothes they have in one store. Two freakin' stories! If you need something affordable and right away, they probably have it. read more

The Men's selection is alright and the store isn't very messy. But what bothers me the most-and this makes up a lot of the other complaints- is that the place really is understaffed. I had a terrible experience at this location recently. The man working the fitting rooms was extremely unprofessional and gave off a horrible "I don't give a shit" vibe. I tried to complain to management and when I asked if either of the men at the registers were the manager they just looked at each with a blank stare and said, "what do you need?" Uh I think I asked to speak to the manager. I found out from them that the rude guy in the fitting room was named, Rudy (ironic huh?) Also both of the guys at the register gave off the same foul attitude.
