Definitely do not recommend others to shop at this store. I have been shopping at H&M for over a decade and have never encountered these problems at other stores across the country. This particular location needs some serious rehiring and training practices that focus on appropriate customer service and anti-discrimination. During the last two times I went to the store, the employees folding clothes at the front noticed me (they looked at me when I came in the store), but did not greet me or anything. This would not have been bothersome, but for the fact that they went above and beyond to greet and assist their Caucasian customers who entered the store shortly after me. This happened on June 11th when I was there shopping in the afternoon and again on July 19th during the morning. On June 11th, I was also discriminated against at the counter. I was ready to make my purchase when the employee asked to see my ID and credit card. This shocked me because I was standing in line for a long time (there were over 10 of us waiting in line when I first got there) and I noticed she did not ask even one other customer to see their credit card and ID. She decided to pick on the one Latina customer (me). I realize that sometimes it is a common practice for employees to ask for an ID when the customer is making a purchase with a credit card. But this should be fairly implemented -- not just a matter of picking on people of color. Even though I have been a loyal H&M customer for all of these years, I cannot in good conscience continue to shop here when the discrimination is just blatant. read more

H&Ms are pretty rad, I don't discriminate. This one here in North County mall I've visited a handful of times. It's spacious, maybe not as big as its counterpart in Westfield Topanga, but it appears more organized with wider aisles for easier clothes perusing. I dropped in last week to return a shirt I purchased for my husband as a Christmas gift and didn't fit. I know that was a long time ago but I don't frequent the mall much and honestly, I sorta forgot. Anywho, it was already 2 weeks past the refund deadline. But store policy said I could still have store credit after that deadline for whatever the item was ringing up at the time. Luckily, the shirt was still full price and I walked out with merchandise credit so my hubby could get something that actually fits him. Store manager was no where to be found . Employees had to repeatedly page all because one employee forgot to remove my tag . Instead of just removing my sensor tag that he literally just ring up he asked to call the store manager. Has me waiting over the minutes . This is what happens when you employee little high school kids that don't care. Customer service at this store is non existent . Mind you I walked In and out and sensors rang. Finally!!!! I came in this store last week completely lost, I'm the kind of person who can't seem to find anything and a helpful employee named Amanda with dark hair and a big smile helped me around the store. She helped me find exactly what I was looking for and even gave suggestions to things I would not have even thought to try on by myself and now I am so so so happy with my new wardrobe. I purchased a pair of overalls online for my daughter fro Christmas. I went into the store today to return them. I was treated with such disrespect from salesperson Donna. She accused me of washing or wearing them even though the tags were attached. She judged me for buying them on 12/4 for a Christmas gift. After the manager Jazmin came over Donna smirked and laughed at me from the other end of the counter. Corporate will be receiving my call tomorrow. Won't shop at H&M ever again. I love the store for the clothes and great prices. Things I hate are the staff and fitting rooms. The staff is always rude and every time I have ever tried something on never have I had someone say "hi" or even "how many do you have". Each time I go the staff is talking to each other instead of focusing on the customer which is annoying! The fitting rooms also seem to be a hundred degrees. Well breaking news they do have a Men's section. It's just tucked away in the back where no one can see it. I came here with a female friend and joked if they had a men's section it'd be small and tucked away... which it was. It seems like they have lots of nice clothes for the ladies but every rack I looked at for men it had only Small and Medium. Ok news flash American is Obese! How do you not have anything larger than a medium? Not that I have enormous girth with which nothing without an X in the front can contain but a large would have been nice. I love H&M... it is the only place where I can get my fill of European fashion since we don't have any of the other stores! And... it's affordable! One time I had a really great cashier who was helpful and even made some excellent recommendations for the outfit I had put together. However, that's the only staff member that has really offered me any kind of customer service that I remember. And the store seems exceptionally messy... messier than the massive ones in Europe. But, it is the nearest one to me, otherwise I'd head to the one in Fashion Valley. read more

I used to have to travel so far to get to H&M, I'm glad to have one in Escondido. As a guy, it's tough to find inexpensive clothes. I really like how they have tons of great t shirts for $6 to $10. You can wear it for a few months, and if it gets ripped or stained who cares. They also have really affordable dress shirts, though I would like it they last a little longer because I tend to take better care of them. And they have tons of great jackets and sweaters. Living in San Diego, there are only a few times a year I need them. As with most stores, the men's section have a less floor space than the women's but they still have good selection. I seldom leave here with out getting something. read more

I have been to a few of the H&M's in the San Diego area. I have to say that the customer service at this location is the worst. I'm not usually one to bash someone, but there is an employe in particular that I would advise to stay away from. His name is Eric, and he was EXTREMELY RUDE to my wife as he was ringing her up. So disappointed! Usually I find tons of great stuff in here. Today-nothing exciting. Ended up buying a cheap bra only because I had a $5 off coupon that was soon to expire. Became pretty annoyed after another encounter with their resident snob, Robert. Every time I've seen this employee, he has been at the register, and looks as though he's ready to serve you. Yet when you try approach, he merely looks at you and shakes his head. He doesn't speak to you at all, yet chats with fellow employees. It is extremely rude! Not even a friendly, "Sorry, I'm not open." Just looks at you as though you're scum for making the mistake of seeking service. Sorry for the rant. But I won't be back for awhile. Great place for cool clothes and great deals!

What an experience! I found outfit that I really liked but unfortunately my size happened to be only on the mannequin. I asked cashier if someone can take it off. She said that they usually don't do that which I think does not make any sense but she'll ask whoever is responsible for the mannequin. A minute later she said that "mannequin person" will be back in 3 minutes and that I can shop around and they'll find me. I guess it was manager that found me in a very short period of time and I was hoping that he'll take that outfit off but he said the same thing as the cashier . I gave him an idea to take off outfit from the mannequin, give it to me to try on and just put another size on the mannequin. As simple as that. He said he'll ask the "mannequin person" and will be back. I was waiting for like 20 minutes. Another associate came across asking if I'm ok. I explained her "situation". Her name was Svetlana. She is a manager which was extremely rude and unprofessional. She offered me to find another outfit and said that "mannequin person" will be back from lunch in an hour. I did get home and found security tags on two articles of clothing...disappointed since I live a good 30 minute drive. Employees at H&M in Escondido should be trained to pick up the phone as soon as it rings to help out customers. I usually don't post yelp reviews.... Because sometimes it is anger that drives a bad review, making it inaccurate. But today me and my sister went into this H & M and the guy at the register who was wearing an orange shirt (I think) was so rude for no reason at checkout. We weren't going out of our way to be snobby or mean or anything like that but he had a really big attitude from the beginning and I really didn't appreciate it. People can't treat total strangers like shit and expect to get return customers, not to mention it's just a douchey way of acting in general.... I work at a restaurant and any restaurant requires good customer service and at least common courtesy.
