I played hookey from work yesterday and got my shop on at the Broadway Plaza. After going to the Powell street location a few months back, this location is way nicer! Of course I went during a quiet time since it was a non-weekend, but I loved the fact that there wasn't any long lines or crowds of people. I found a bunch of cute stuff, a few sweaters, a few cardigans, and even a cute black dress for my hot dates. All for under $200, yay! read more

It's bigger than the one on Bay Street ... it's multiple stories ... I didn't even make it upstairs. They have a ton of size 6's ... and 12's ... but it's hard to find anything else in between. Another annoyance was that styles weren't well organized and grouped together. I'd find a black and khaki jacket on one rack ... but then the exact same style in another color 4 racks away. We went Labor Day weekend, and I didn't have to wait for a dressing room ... the one on Bay Street takes 15-20 minutes on busy weekends to get a room. read more

$10 tags overtook half the store earlier this week, but look carefully at what you are buying. Most of the items are there because they are ill fitting or damaged. I walked in the dressing room twice with over 7 items each time and many of them sale items. I ended up only buying the full price items. H&M is definitely a hit or miss. Lots of standard pieces in their collection, but they are not the best quality. The Basics collection sags and doesn't wear well. What kind of job do people expect to get wearing a suit from here? OMG. They are horrendous. I do like the printed button down poly shirts, great under a smart blazer and easy to care for. That's the secret, buy the materials you CAN care for, if you need to dry clean a $15 top or pant from here, it's SO not worth it. I actually really like the Divided collection, lots of bright colors and jersey tops. Fit pretty well and last. I wash all my tees from these big discount chains in lingerie bags and on cold/delicate. Pretty peppy CS here. They make me feel grumpy and old. read more

First off, let me start off by saying that the swag here is brazy on all levels. You walk in, and you just feel the flyness erupting inside of you. Through out any time of the year, you know this store will get you looking right. Once you walk in, you see only the finest clothes on display. Just a warning ladies, you WILL go stupid. This is America. Land of the free, and home of the brave. The clothes might as well be free because these prices are out of this planet. H&M is pushing the kids forward, all store locations are right; but you if you love your life and you love freedom, it's mandatory that you go to this one and this one only. MLK didn't die for you to not feel confident in the way you dress, drop by and get your swag up. Come drop off a bag of clothes you don't wear and get 15% off for yourself, the homies or loved ones. The cashier I got Stepy I believe was her name must of woken up on the wrong side of the bed today or really hates her job, because I got the worst customer service and attitude from her. I went in to do an exchange and she told me first I could only do exchange because they didn't offer store credit and then that I had to equal the same amount. So ok I went to get some items and when I get back she scans the items to purchase and I reminded her about the exchange she told me and she responded "we have to start all over again". I really hope she either gets another job or has a better day tomorrow. read more

If I can put zero or negative in the rating I would. I'm writing a review because of the experience I had with sales associate #855576 and manager. Went here today, 3/16 at around 7 p.m. This cashier at the register doesNOT have a name tag, she's obviously Filipina, she is wearing a lot of make up and long ass fake lashes. She's EXTREMELY RUDE and should not be allowed to work at the register. This cashier is unpleasant and has attitude, she did not say hi or even smile. She was obviously having a bad day. Asked her to double check the prices of two items (one from kids section and the other from women's section) because the price on the racks and on the tags were different. She checked both items and confirmed that the tags has the correct price. I told her they should change the sign on the racks, initially she was defensive, she said that someone may have placed those items in the wrong racks. I explained to her that for those two items there were a bunch of the same items in those racks and it wasn't just one item. She was impolite and not apologetic. She said "We are busy and don't have time to update the prices on the racks!" She finished ringing my items and pretty much just dumped all the clothes I purchased in the bag! So Unprofessional! The Manager is a JOKE! He doesn't CARE. He was right next to this cashier and did not even say anything! H&M you need to retrain your staff on how to provide better customer service! Or better yet hire someone who can be professional enough to do the work! read more

Febe was 100% the highlight of our shopping experience here! She's extremely resourceful, personable and deserves the highest form of praise H&M upper management can offer. I usually have good luck finding stuff I like at this H&M. My luck fell a little short when I was here the other day. Found a sheer dark people rayon blouse that used to go for $30. Got it for 5. Just when I thought I needed clean canvas shoes that don't look like I've walked to hell and back in them, I see this pair of light lavender Keds-like canvas shoes. None in my size. I see the same in navy and black. None in my size. So I thought to myself, "Lemme try a size 6 for the heck of it." I usually wear a size 8. Then the weirdest thing happened. Sometimes instead of indulging in an "MMMM lunch session" I like to stroll over to H&M during work and grab my Miss something she can strut her sexy with. This H&M has a great layout, no issues with feeling all stuffed in someones closet since there is plenty of space. Very well organized, and the accessories aren't all cluttered together so you can actually grab a pair of earrings without grabbing everything. Great deals on everything and hardly ever overpriced. No sour faces patrolling, the customer service here is plenty smiles with some eye candy added to the flavor. Spend about a bill, dress my doll up and she is sassy'd up from head to toe ready to take over the town and bring me to my knees. No matter what ya prefer dresses, skirts, tank tops, blouses, shorts, boots, high heels, and all the click clacks ya need they got what your back when it comes to getting your Fine on. read more

Whew-Wee! Some seriously incredible prices on clothing...decent quality clothing. My daughter agrees with her mom...much better quality than Forever 21. During our most recent and fun, fun time spent in Walnut Creek, we did some shopping here. The store is very nice, not too crowded with racks and all around pleasant. Girls shop on the lower levels, boys shop upstairs. They do carry lots of items in smaller sizes. Recommend trying the clothing on because some bum-covering threads tend to run smaller than other stores. Wow...finalllllllllllllllly...I found bum-covering shorts here! They're cool, not too mommish looking, 100% comfy cotton and cost was an itsy-bitsy $14.90 per pair. Darn right I stocked up on shorts! For those (gals and guys) who have to dress up for work, yet have a tight budget, wethinks this is a dandy store for you to check out. This store is one of many awesome stores in Walnut Creek. Kudos to WC for creating such a beautiful downtown area... always fun to visit. We wish other cities would follow suit and copycat you, WC! You are wise, WC...gobs of anchor stores along with boutique-y stores...a winner city! read more

As Far as selection, best in the east bay. Far supirior to the sun valley location. As Far as customer service... I understand you work in Walnut Creek and that probably totally sucks balls... but having to be around so many ridiculous people who are rude for no reason and think they are special Wouldn't that just inspire you to actually be nice to people? I walked into the store and this guy looked right at me. He didn't greet me which is fine, I mean everytime Ive had a retail job I've greeted everyone to come in the door and ask them if I could help them. But whatever What shocked me was the look of disgust he exchanged with his coworker about me then looked back at me like I had 3 heads. And I don't know why, I wasn't doing anything to be or look offensive. I guess I'm just not walnut creek rich kid enough to shop there. I have no idea honestly. So I take a pair of pants to the dressing room and am waiting paitently for a worker to come help me. I turn around and see this same guy who ever so rudely asks "you want to try on something" then i reply "yes" And he said "WHAT?!?!?!" Not even joking. I was so taken aback by his rudeness... and I am a very honest very understanding person but this was the second rude encounter I've had with him. I didn't even answer him because I didn't even know what to say. He didnt even grab one of those plaques off the wall telling how many I had just pointed at a room and told me to go in there then walked away completely disinterested. The pants were too small so i went onto the floor to grab the next size up and returned to a different guy who was a lot nicer to me. I could not undestand why I was treated like this. If I were being rude then I'd understand but it was really like... "huh???" I don't get it, if your too much a diva for your job then why are you working there? You will actually find that being nice people is a lot easier and takes less energy than it does to be mean. Just my take It's always been like this at this location tho, its like the people there feel like they have something to prove, but in reality you work retail. Oh wow. This H&M location is so much nicer than the Sun Valley one. Cleaner, more organized, and it seems like they have more selection. Plus they carry kid's clothing and maternity wear, which I didn't even know they made. Last weekend the whole kid's department was 20% off, so I got my daughter a bunch of cute stuff (yay!) but I didn't get myself anything (booooo!) although I did see some cute new fall stuff. Mixed feelings about this H&M. Sometimes, I find tons of stuff; other times nuthin'! A few times, I found some t-shirts for $5. The t-shirts were pretty thin material and, strangely, OK to machine wash but not to dryer. They were cotton t-shirts, for casual wear... but I guess they may have a tendency to shrink since so thin. Still, the boys section has some things that are cute and not generic, and the men's selection has some items that were nice. One thing is for sure, though, the sizes are pretty correct. While other stores have had "size inflation" -- HOW is it possible that I'm the same size when I was in HIGH SCHOOL? It's not possible, but even knowing that I'm not that size, the "vanity" kicks in and makes me buy it. Not so, at H&M. The skirts are true sizes, and um...WOW. Now might be a good time to skip the gelato around the corner (but I never do). read more

Men's selection is pretty small at this location. Were in on a Sunday and the line was damn long. The employees were not friendly or helpful at all, but I'm sure they keep their prices low somehow! DH usually finds some good stuff here but they're always out of the Large and XL's in the women's area. Plus a lot of the women's stuff looks cute 'til you get close and see the seams or touch the fabrics. read more

I would give 4.5 stars if I could - this is the most organized and clean H&M I've been to. I've been to many of them around the world, and this one is by far the best branch I've seen. If you go during the week it is very quiet. Also, it's on the smaller side (which means they don't have quite the same selection as the bigger ones) so it's not as overwhelming. The SF branches are always so chaotic - I would definitely recommend this branch. Also, the sales people here are very friendly. read more

If you're lucky the clothes you purchase will last you a first wear and/or wash. Be sure to examine the garments before you leave the store. While in the dressing room I found a 1" split in the side seam of a shirt. A scarf I tried on was snagged in three places. The music pumping through the store speakers is obnoxious. I don't dislike loud music. Just bad, loud music. I'd rather own fewer clothes that are made well, of better quality materials. And what's with the diminutive pant and sleeve lengths? 34" minimum inseam here, please. I don't get the appeal of this place. At all. read more

Ok...this is by far the BEST H&M I've ever been to. Being that I'm from the East Bay, the only H&M I ever really go to is on Bay Street. That place SUCKS!!!! Going in there is like having to rummage through a garage sale. Walnut Creek H&M is like being in Nordstrom. The variety of clothes, the lighting, the friendly staff and the fact that your clothes are actually hanging on the hangers...KUDOS!!!!!!!!!!!!! The manager of the Walnut Creek H&M is a liar. I entered the store just before closing. I was told they couldn't do a return because the system was up and down and had been down for two days. I asked a different sales girl is she could do a return and she said yes, but she was not at the register when I got to the register. The manager just didn't want to serve me because I came in right before closing. Miraculously, the register worked for sales, but it didn't work for returns. What a liar!! Seriously, can someone tell me what rock I've been living under to not know there is a full H&M here??? I love H&M. I especially love it for my kids since it's reasonably priced, if not down right cheap, and it's a little more unique than buying clothes from Target and Old Navy. I love that when they wear their H&M clothes, every other kid in their class isn't wearing the same outfit. The hard thing with H&M is not every store carries all lines in the same store. I love that this store has Men, Woman, Kids, and Maternity. It's large, clean, and well organized and it's not as chaotic as some of the busier (ie SF, NYC) locations. I am so happy that H&M has made their appearance on the West Coast and in the US for that matter. I have been shopping with them for years in Europe when I visit family and have always gotten some great buys. Selection can be hit or miss. If you see something here that you like....don't leave it and think about it...BUY IT! It won't be there when you come back. It's always a new adventure when shopping here. Even though the prices are reasonable, the clothing is fairly well made. Love the little girls clothing here too. The little boys section is a bit bland though. Very good value though. read more

I felt the need to update my review of H&M several years later. First of all I don't work here anymore..I've since graduated college and left this job behind although I did very much enjoy my time here. Although I still think this particular location is the best organization-wise out of all the bay area H&Ms, I feel the need to state a few things. When I first started working here having a discount to a cool clothing store seemed amazing. I spent more of my paychecks here then I should have. However, the longer I worked here and advanced up to the level of helping store managers with returns as well as the more clothes of my own I bought here I began to realize why the prices were so cheap...these clothes aren't built to last. Yes, there are exceptions that will hold up through time if you barely wear them or launder them carefully but for the most part this place is great for the last minute outfit that you don't care about the seam coming undone on 3 months later or the top that you want to wear for a night out but won't be broken hearted over if despite washing in cold water and hanging to dry it starts shrinking shorter and shorter. Seriously, this is very common. All I'm saying is to be careful and don't spend too much money here because you'll probably be re-buying replacements for those items later...just appreciate it as a fun store to go to for cheap spur of the moment outfits that are very stylish while still being more mature looking than something you'd pick up over at Forever 21. read more

I'm giving it 4 stars because for some reason it's not as crowded in here compared to other H&Ms. I always hate shopping at H&M because I'm too lazy to try on my clothes since the lines are so extremely long. But at this location, I feel like I have the store all to myself sometimes. I usually come during the weekday evenings and it's quiet and gives me time to shop in leisure. *MY 200th REVIEW* :) I RARELY post reviews on retail stores, but I'm making an exception for this H&M location because I was amazed at how big and good their selection is for Men's clothing! The store is also clean and organized! It drives me nuts when I shop in a store that's messy!!! I'm giving this store four out of five stars because I thought it was inconvenient that their fitting rooms upstairs were "closed". So if you're a shopaholic and need to try EVERYTHING on before you buy them, you HAVE to carry all the items downstairs and use the fitting rooms there. I had four items with me which wasn't a big deal, but I saw a couple of girls struggling to get downstairs 'cause they had a bunch of stuff with them! Also, they didn't have any registers upstairs, so the line can get really long!!! Other than that I like this H&M location more than others I've been to. read more

H&M is usually pretty much H&M wherever you go. I'm always a fan of their budget accessories and sometimes you can find some unique piece of clothing. You never feel guilty trying something trendy at their prices and even once in a while can find something decent for work. However this H&M in Walnut Creek sets itself apart for several reasons: Store Cleanliness, Organization, nice staff, better selection and layout. I've been to H&M's in Boston, New York city and San Francisco and hands down this is my favorite one. My friends from Boston even agree. The selection is much better and the store never looks like a tornado hit it-as is often the case at other stores. Also, when they do their $5, $10, $15 clearance events, there is always an amazing selection of bargains. When I first was exploring downtown Walnut Creek, H&M was the first thing I noticed. I am never disappointed when I go in to this location and if I know I have money to burn, I will always find something there. 1000 times better than the location in Sun Valley mall. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I've noticed that some of the "new" spring clothes they are putting out are actually the same stuff they had last year. I mean identical. As a chain that's pretty well shopped, H&M should at least get a little more creative on their inventory and switch up some of the colors at least. read more

H&M is hit or miss with me. Much like how Express goes through phases, so does H&M and sometimes I find myself going "what?" This location is nice because its on a corner and it's two stories so you feel you can breath when shopping (always helpful). Sometimes I walk in and find nothing I like and other times I have to stop picking things up or they won't let me in the dressing room! However, I do feel their prices on their summer clothes are more reasonable and they have tube tops and shorts for under $10. The accessories are cute, cute, cute and trendy. They tempt me with purses and glasses and they are cheap in price. My mom found H&M to have super cute and cheap in price baby clothes when shopping for my dad's coworker's baby. Babies grow so fast and those clothes are so expensive so this isn't a bad place to look. I have one major beef with this place and its the sizing. I understand H&M is European but in shorts and pants, I do not fit into the sizes I would normally buy. I'm not bragging but I am thin and I find this odd. The staff here is decent but nothing to write home about. read more

I came here to find a dress to match with my costume. This H&M is pretty big and spacious and there's so many things to buy here. I love the outfits and designs, I never leave with just one thing (which is bad hahaha). There's 2 levels here, the bottom level is for older adults ranging from 18-30(?)ish. And the 2nd level has the mens section and young adult attire. Also the bottom level has the accessories (bags, earrings, necklaces, hats, umbrella's.) The clothes are sort of pricey, but the material that they use is pretty good and can go through multiple washes (depends on what the thing is made of like the sillky outfits can rip apart pretty easily) Customer service is great, the girl who was helping me seemed very nice and we had a nice conversation about Halloween and costumes. The guy in charge of the fitting room was nice and didn't mind or seemed annoyed by me when I asked about dress sizes and their stock. Another worker was courteous and said "Excuse me" and didn't bump into me when he was passing through (it was really busy and there were lines.) read more

After reading the other reviews I decided this did in fact need to get posted. Upon arriving home to wrap the x-mas gifts, which they refused to provide service for, I found that both items still had security tags on them. How did I even get out of the store? Somewhere between damaging an item to remove the security tag and giving myself a fun little cut, I decided to never rely on this store brand again. What had been my preferred cheaper shopping has become entirely unreliable, poorly staffed, and overall mismanaged facility. I love the selection of clothes for men. I work in a bank and have to dress up. I used to buy shirts from ExpressMen but they cost a lot. These ones are nicer and a lot less expensive! Other H & M stores (in SF) have either no mens, or not enough mens clothes. This one has plenty and in an organized and well displayed manner. If you are a guy that needs/wants to look good but don't want to spend all your money doing it, check out this H&M location, you won't be disappointed. read more

Now I know we all love the grand H&M brand name. Nice clothes at a great price right?... I'd love to give them a great review, since I like their styles and their prices are more than fair...but warning! - Clothes purchased online are NOT exchangeable or returnable in the store...what???? Yup. They charge shipping to return goods purchased online. - They will NOT match their online prices. And prices are much lower (sometimes 50%) online. - They have big price signs above the racks - $5! $1$ $10 ! These prices have NO bearing on the clothes in the rack. The price on the tag is the price you will pay. - You can't use a merchandise credit to buy a gift card. Purchase at your own risk... read more

I was super-excited that H&M made it to the west coast. The clothing is much more disposable than I remembered. This store feels chaotic. Loud music, picked over clothes, outlandish lines at the fitting room and registers. Go to the downstairs one, people! Good place to find some fun pieces that you don't care too much about in the long run - if you have the time to search. I'd head back with earplugs and much patience. read more

One pair of socks at Banana Republic across the street costs $13.99. For $9.99, I got a 4-pack of nearly identical socks at H&M. Cotton blend, white and navy, almost exactly the same socks - but 3 extra pairs of them, and for four dollars less. What a ridiculous markup! Grateful to H&M for having reasonable prices. We used to come here more often when the kids were younger but often find great discounts on tee-shirts, blouses for work, and jeans. Fun fake purses and jewelry. Music is too loud for these old ears but a fun place to shop. read more

I wonder why there are two H&M's w/in 10 mile radius on THIS side of the bay. I could already tell this one was different than the flagship store in the city just by driving by. I was disappointed w/ the window displays as the mannequins were dressed as if they were at the Ann Taylor store or Express. One summer during college, I worked at Broadway Plaza and relished every moment of it. All that shopping, all those Starbucks, all those cute valets...ahhhh...the life of a young and carefree Gap sales associate. Now I grit my teeth whenever I'm in this shopping center. So many bleached and botoxed bimbos babbling on their cell phones while they keep one eye on their toddlers to make sure they don't fall in the fountain. But I do like this H&M more than any other. Downstairs is organized and not insane like Powell Street or Bay Street. I rarely venture upstairs because I'm not Avril Lavigne or Ashley Simpson. I like how this H&M clearly separates these two sections, so I never accidentally end up in a skull and crossbones hoodie with metallic leggings. So shop here but stay downstairs. PS - Ladies, check out the H&M bras and panties. Beautiful, lacy little numbers that are cheap cheap cheap. All my favorite bras are from here now. read more

Had a pair of shorts fall apart after a few hours of wear. An entire seam came unstitched. Manager of this store refused to do anything about it as the shorts had been worn, and was rude and dismissive about the situation. I understand that clothes have lifespans, but if a store refuses to guarantee that their clothes will last longer than a half a day, they sure as hell won't have me as a customer anymore. I've spent hundreds of dollars at this location over the past year or so, and always put up with slow, bored employees, but this is the last time I'll be in. The quality of the clothes ranges from okay to garbage and it's often difficult to tell what you're getting until it's too late. Their site claims "Unwashed, unworn or defective merchandise may be returned within 30 days of purchase date for a full refund. All returned items must have the tags attached, along with the original sales receipt. Merchandise returned after 30 days or without the original sales receipt will require a valid photo ID. These returns will be refunded with an H&M merchandise credit at the current selling price, usable on future H&M store purchases." That is not the case AT ALL. Buyer beware - defective merchandise is YOUR PROBLEM, not the store's, and they wouldn't exchange it for another of the same item or store credit even though the shorts were clearly defective! Add that to the completely unsympathetic, uninterested and rude staff, and there's no reason to spend money here at all. Go to Uniqlo for a better deal and staff or any of the DOZENS of clothing stores in downtown Walnut Creek for similar prices and MUCH higher quality! read more

One of the few stores with a maternity department. It's disappointing. I wandered around the 2nd floor trying to find it, it's in the way back of the kids clothes, next to the infant clothes. The selection is limited at best, mostly larger sizes, between medium and XL, so if you are a XS or small, you are out of luck. Not impressed, but the rest of the stuff there is comparable to their other stores, like at Stoneridge. read more
