My most recent visit to this location left me so happy! I've never had any negative experiences at Hot Topic, but the staff on clock for this weekend were especially friendly and helpful. The staff was making sure to help us out on the floor if we had any questions and the cashiers gave us compliments when we were checking out. Hot Topic is my happy place. It carries all the fandom merch to satiate my fandom needs. :) Apparel, accessories, pins, buttons, Funkos--this store has everything. Name a fandom and you'll probably find merch for it here. And it doesn't always have to belong to a specific fandom; in general, there is a variety of cutesy, grungy, alt stuff as well. The employees are friendly, and they usually greet you upon entering. They also have good energy and upbeat attitudes. I love how the employees wear their own fandom merch in their attire. The person who rang me up when I last came had a bunch of buttons on his lanyard which I thought was awesome. One thing I like about this location in particular is how they carry mystery pins. I'm a huge fanatic for mystery pins, so that gives this Hot Topic an edge over the others in my book. Items can be pricey here, but you can earn Hot Cash which allows you to save money. They also often hold storewide sales (BOGOs, 30% off certain things, etc), so be on the lookout for that. read more

I have visited this Hot Topic a few times since moving to the Bay Area and I have nothing but positive reviews for them. Their customer service is truly worthy of a five star review. I had a few returns to make tonight. Even though their registers were having some difficulties, the associate that was helping me was so calm, patient, and did a wonderful job through it all. Another thing that really stands out to me is their team spirit. It seems like the folx who work here are all very team oriented and will help each other out even when they are off the clock. I love these stores. This store has some good stuff. It seems like Hot Topic as a whole has scaled down on the Funko stuff.

First time at Hot Topic and it was pretty cool. I went here because this is the place that had the most exclusive Funko POPs out of everywhere. I went here expecting to find a ton of POPs to take home but I only found one which was a Chrome Pikachu (still pretty cool). They did have lots of Funko POPs but just ones I didn't really want. I always go to new places with very high expectations for Funko POPs but I shouldn't have super high expectations for everything or I'm gonna be sad. They did have lots of Merch and Collectibles for other things too and it was a very nice store. I will definitely be coming back here and I will updating my review next time I go. read more

This is my go to Hot Topic. Its bigger than most HT's. The staff has always been very nice. Unlike other HT's I have been to where the workers are cooler than the room. i.e: Pleasanton HT. Where else can you get a really nice women's Tool T-shirt? They sometimes have a good run on Marilyn Monroe shirts. That is usually my go to style of T-shirt. I must have 50 Marilyn Monroe shirts. Also for everyone who currently has the HT discount card. They are updating their cards to hard plastic cards. So get down there and get your new cards. I love Hot Topic and I'm a grown corporate shill who you would never know likes metal music and enjoys looking for a women's Lamb Of God shirt. Still have yet to find here by the way. read more

This is the closest Hot Topic to me and where I generally have all of my online orders shipped to since. Any Funko Pop collector knows that Hot Topic has the biggest selection of exclusives to the line and they are constantly releasing new figures every month. I first started coming to the Concord store about a year ago and never knew how small the selection of Pops was compared to some other stores. Recently, the Pop wall has been reduced down to one wall and is pretty unorganized as a lot of Hot Topics are. It's hard to find anything without doing some digging. The staff are all very nice and friendly. Whenever I call in to ask questions about a stock check or new releases they are patient to answer any questions I throw at them. I just really wish they got bigger shipments like some of the other stores. Still not a bad place to go if you are one of the first to get there when a new item comes out. read more

I love and hate hot topic. My stepdaughter is 16 and drags me in this place every chance she gets. At 39, one cant really walk in this place and browse alone....kinda lame and kinda awkward. So, when she hinted they had Team Edward hook up at Hot Topic, I thought it my duty to enter the store solo and get the goods. What I found was what I needed but the prices are really, really high. Or maybe I am still using the $3.50 price for posters that I used to pay. Posters are $7.50 a pop now if you are wondering. This has always been my go to location for Hot Topic, but after the service I just received, i will go out of my way to visit the new location in Brentwood. The staff was rude and unhelpful. I was looking for some specfic Pop Funko Figures that i had seen on their website. When i came in they had an entire wall filled with shelves of the Pop Funko Figures. An associate was nearby so i asked if they had a specific one and he just shrugged and said, "I dunno, you'll have to look." As i'm digging through these hundreds of figures searching, another associate comes up to me and asked if I was finding everything okay. I said, "No, I'm looking for... can you help me?" He just said, "Oh, you'll just have to keep looking." And walked away. It would have been nice if he would have helped me, or at least told me if they had the character or not. I finally chose some other characters (not the ones i was looking for) and took my purchase up to the cashier. She was VERY unfriendly. This girl must have been having the worst day of her life judging by the way she talked to me. Just condecending and huffing under her breath the whole time, like she was seriously irritated. I used to come here so much often in my high school days. I haven't been here recently though. Anyways; All the Hot Topic's look the same and with the same kind of workers but these worker's are pretty nice and helpful. The main reason why I come here now is because: 1. I'm a BIG fan of Hello Kitty and they have a ton of HK stuff here. 2. Cute plush backpack's that I could use at raves. 3. Lingerie&tights/stockings are super cheap here and pretty cute. I go here to get Hello Kitty merch. I don't get much else from here. The jewelry is okay depending on what you're looking for. Not the best quality but it's something to tickle your fancy till you realize you could've gotten something better for the same price. I find the store to be a little bit over the top with tween style clothing and merch... But then again... It's aimed for that age frame. I think they need to change up some of the merchandise and not make a huge section for whatever teen movie hit is out.. A little bit much. A little overwhelming. They have good deals when it comes to clearance items. Just have to dig for them in the massive pile of if it at the back of the store. I have been coming to this place for about 10 years now. I don't always find what I'm looking for but when I least expect it, BAM! They have a whole bunch of things! I've gotten t-shirts here, some Halloween accessories, phone accessories and apparel. What kind you may ask? I'm a 80's baby and 90's kid. I love GI Joe and this place has carried t-shirts. For Halloween I found some Iron Man Halloween stuff, score! I'm a sucker for Iron man superhero because there's a significance with his arc reactor that I can relate to. Bought Mario and logo Halloween costumes here as well. They usually come out with superhero item when a new movie release comes around. They even have power ranger shirts haha. Even have had a turtle shell (super Mario reference). This store is bigger than the one in Berkeley and well maintained. Prices are good but they have great sale/clearance prices. This is one of the best Hot Topic stores I've been to in a while. Every time I come here, it seems that they are running a sale,promotion, or event. I always end up finding really good items on their clearance rack and it's great that those items are always included in their buy one get one 50% off sale. If he hadn't been ringing up my item during his complaint session I would've left. Two girls who walked up into line behind me heard him, put down their things and left. Came into the store on 4/15 to exchange a shirt my friend bought me that was too big. I had talked to Mel (I believe) a few days prior explaining that my friend works at a different location and she bought a Beetlejuice shirt for me as a surprise gift since I've been wanting it but the only issue was it's too big. She asked if I had the receipt and I said yes she sent it to me over text. I told Mel her name and the location she works at and she said oh yeah no problem when you have more time come in and we'll do it. The next day I came in prepared with the original shirt and receipt ready to go on my phone and the guy called over Xavier to process the return. As I was explaining the issue to Xavier, Mel comes from the back and instantly remembers me. The original shirt I bought was a little more expensive than the one they had (long sleeve vs short sleeve most likely) so after all the math trying to figure it out ultimately I would be getting like a $2 credit. I asked Xavier if I needed to do that right now because I'm on a time limit (was on my 15 minute break) and he said oh no I'll give you a gift card and you can come back anytime, there's no rush. Use to shop here back in my teenage years. This location is much bigger than the one in Berkeley. They have a huge clearance section which is awesome. The music is loud in here which some find annoying. Most of the things are overpriced but they are decent quality. Crazy stuff in here when Halloween comes around. Get a club card to earn point and get discounts! The staff here are always really helpful and nice. Always ask you if you need help finding anything and willing to call other locations for you to see if they carry the item. read more

The manager Angel is extremely rude, unfriendly, and not helpful. I had an exchange and another associate helped me grab the right item she was very nice(the reason why I'm giving this two stars instead of one) then she grabbed the manager for the exchange. Before helping me he was talking to another worker for a good few minutes. He rudely approached me by just standing next to me till I moved out of his way; I didn't know where he was trying to go. Then told me I couldn't exchange the item because supposedly it was open ,even though I didn't open it, he refused to do an exchange, store credit or anything. Dear Clerks Who Worked at This Store ca. 1994, I'm sorry for pooping in the dressing room. I'm sure my co-vandal also has some remorse for peeing on the stack of Misfits t-shirts. We were young and impassioned and we thought Hot Topic was encroaching on something that belonged to us. I believe it was "Nihilne sanctum" that was passing through my mind when I pinched off a pretty sizeable one on the dressing room bench. It's just that seeing our favorite bands showcased and profited on in a mall was so degrading to the records we selectively amassed with the faith that they would remain safely beneath the radar of the general populace. Think how ordinary we felt seeing that Joe Schmo and Jane Doe had access to studded belts and Dead Kennedys shirts and Misfits air fresheners! How dare these bands, who were quickly approaching middle age if they weren't there already--how dare they try and make a profit on the music that is only significant to us if it remains obscure! What, did they grow up or something? Do they have mortgages and families and bills to pay? Why aren't they still sleeping on dirty floors drinking cheap beer and eating shitty food? I want my bands to have scabes! That's punk rock! Hot Topic, you still sell junk, and you're really no better than any other store in the mall, but you never pretended to be and at least some of the money (little though it may be) is going to people who deserve it. read more
