I use these milk's instead of water to make my coffee in the morning and it is so good (taste and health wise). Ralph's has good prices on these milk when they put them on sale every few weeks. But this review is for the Supervisor at the self-checkout. He is always so nice and helps us out when there are issues with our purchases. I forget to look at his name tag earlier but it's the gentleman with dark (almost black) and curly hair. Always has a smile when dealing with customers. I'll check his name tag next time we're in the store. :) The store is always nice and clean and well-stocked.

The problem was that the formula we needed was locked up, and an employee who was standing right there refused to help us get it. The formula was clearly visible and easily accessible to staff, but instead of assisting us, we were essentially told no because of the area being partially blocked off. As parents trying to buy an essential item for our baby, that was incredibly frustrating. I understand stores have policies and construction projects, but when a customer needs baby formula and an employee could easily retrieve it, refusing to help is poor customer service. We left feeling like helping customers was less important than avoiding a minor inconvenience. If you're going to keep a store open during maintenance, employees should still be willing and able to help customers access essential items.

As a parting statement, he told a very crude disgusting political "joke", which offended me greatly. Pro tip: when you are serving the PUBLIC, LEAVE YOUR PERSONAL POLITICAL VIEWS AT HOME. Saturday early evening was the exact opposite. This gent had zero business being assigned to this department working solo and really should be in another department altogether. He had no idea what he was doing, and I had to guide him through the entire process. I recommended he make a list and he vetoed that. As a result, I showed him my list of ingredients, and he took it with his glove hand and set the dirty paper on the board where you lay the bread out to make a sandie. Woof! And then he could not read it anyway, so he had to ask me. He could not find anything and even when I pointed out obvious packaged meats in front of his face, he did not hear it or was not listening. I had to say the word and point it out three times. When he saw the list, he said he would have to use less of each because there were too many. There was no offer of "it will cost more" to do this so I just said fine, do what your able to do. In the end, he forgets the cheese entirely and when I ask for dressing (oil and vinegar) he drops a 1/4 of a tsp on the bread only and not on top of the other half. I said to myself "shine it" I'll fix this cold mess at home with a jar of giardiniera I recently bought in Chicago at a sandwich shop. I only noticed the absence of provolone cheese when I got home. What I did observe was three slices of meat, two strips of lettuce and the roll for their standard price. I am all for giving people opportunities or a shot whether young or old but if someone is not a fit for a particular department do not place them there even during the off-peak hours or to sub for someone's meal period. Another associate entered towards the end of this 25-minute fiasco. I am a rare breed in the "tech age" and very patient but this guy tested even my patience. He was not rude, but he was not very personable either. He seemed overwhelmed out of the gate, and it stayed that way throughout. In the end, I fixed it at home on my own dime with my own provolone cheese, red wine vinegar, EVO and giardiniera. I likely will not be back unless I come at the lunch hour and look for a different worker. Otherwise, I will try out Sprout's or go back to Ralph's who has done a nice job in the past. They offer the same services.

The employees should be stirring the dishes regularly and making sure the meat stays covered with sauce so that it looks fresh and appetizing. I was actually very hungry, but after looking over the options, there was nothing from either the hot or cold bar that I wanted to eat, so I ended up leaving without getting anything. For a store like Gelson's, I expected the prepared food bars to be much better maintained. The fact that it was only noon and the food already looked this dried out and unappealing was especially disappointing. Hopefully they can pay more attention to the presentation, freshness, and overall care of the food bars.

It's frustrating and inconvenient when you're just trying to get in and out. Customers shouldn't have to double-check every item or argue to receive the advertised price. They refused to issue store credit, a gift card or even let me bring in the receipt tomorrow vs today. It's false advertisement and they need a better manager. It's extremely disappointing since we shopped there frequently and have never had this issue. We won't be back we'll go to other stores that care about retaining their customers
