Zero consistency at the "build-your-own" sandwich deli. My first visit here was fantastic where the sandwich maker pulled out a note pad and made a list of my ingredients and produced a delicious East Coast Italian grinder in a very reasonable amount of time. Saturday early evening was the exact opposite. This gent had zero business being assigned to this department working solo and really should be in another department altogether. He had no idea what he was doing, and I had to guide him through the entire process. I recommended he make a list and he vetoed that. As a result, I showed him my list of ingredients, and he took it with his glove hand and set the dirty paper on the board where you lay the bread out to make a sandie. Woof! And then he could not read it anyway, so he had to ask me. He could not find anything and even when I pointed out obvious packaged meats in front of his face, he did not hear it or was not listening. I had to say the word and point it out three times. When he saw the list, he said he would have to use less of each because there were too many. There was no offer of "it will cost more" to do this so I just said fine, do what your able to do. In the end, he forgets the cheese entirely and when I ask for dressing (oil and vinegar) he drops a 1/4 of a tsp on the bread only and not on top of the other half. I said to myself "shine it" I'll fix this cold mess at home with a jar of giardiniera I recently bought in Chicago at a sandwich shop. I only noticed the absence of provolone cheese when I got home. What I did observe was three slices of meat, two strips of lettuce and the roll for their standard price. I am all for giving people opportunities or a shot whether young or old but if someone is not a fit for a particular department do not place them there even during the off-peak hours or to sub for someone's meal period. Another associate entered towards the end of this 25-minute fiasco. I am a rare breed in the "tech age" and very patient but this guy tested even my patience. He was not rude, but he was not very personable either. He seemed overwhelmed out of the gate, and it stayed that way throughout. In the end, I fixed it at home on my own dime with my own provolone cheese, red wine vinegar, EVO and giardiniera. I likely will not be back unless I come at the lunch hour and look for a different worker. Otherwise, I will try out Sprout's or go back to Ralph's who has done a nice job in the past. Surprised to see how low the ratings are for this Pavilions store. Almost all 1-star ratings? The store is very clean and well-organized. Fairly large and carries lots of stuff. Service is okay not exemplary but acceptable. They have my husband's favorite brand of non-dairy ice cream. And even the Thrifty Drugstore ice cream! I just saw them tonight. Never noticed it before. The Signature muffins are much better now. They used so dry but they have been better lately, actually they're pretty good now. But definitely not cheap for grocery store muffins. Prices are generally higher since it is "Pavillions" but like other stores, when they have sale items, they have good deals. Got our normal grocery tonight and some pumpkin muffins, mochi ice cream, etc. Muffins look fresh and yummy, hubby's favorite. :) read more

Food: The food selection is excellent; they always have what I want. Service: Service is okay. Went there on Thursday. There weren't any registers open. Only self-check out. The employee saw that I had alcohol and didn't say anything until I was ringing up the alcohol, and she was like Oh, we don't do alcohol purchases at self-checkout. You need to go to the register. We were in need for a few items for a nice dinner and not to far from pavilions it's our favorite grocery when we're down here from the Central Valley. This store is so impressive it's a beautiful place to shop all the departments are 5 star the meat department especially stands out so does the bakery deli produce liquor the wines selections are second to none. Did I mention there's a Starbucks too. This store is the anchor of a upscale shopping center featuring many trendy businesses. We picked out a couple prime New York steaks a pair of large russet potatoes, a warm loaf of fresh French bread and a Cesar salad. The store wasn't to busy a couple checkouts were open no waiting. This review is specifically for their hot food area. Came here around 4:30pm to grab an 8 piece chicken. I've been wanting to try their mango habanero chicken but just in case it was too spicy for me I requested half fried and half mango habanero chicken. I was so disappointed! I brought it home to eat right away and the both types of chicken were so dry and overcooked it was what I consider inedible! While the trays were full, looking as though they were fresh batches the pieces they served me must have been sitting under the heat lamps for several hours. Much of the chicken was hard and dry!! I believe they should discard chicken that has not been sold within a 15-20 minute period. There is nothing worse than overcooked chicken. I Just wasted my money today !!! read more

Floral Department Review: Came here just hours before my city hall wedding. Got my wedding bouqet here (brought my own ribbon) and had 5 small vases of flower arrangements done here. They charge 20% of the price of flowers bought for their floral arrangement services. The lady who helped me out (blonde, young) was very sweet as she accommodated our very last-minute request. Total came up to $106 with tax (including the vases). Would definitely recommend coming here! read more

Another issue is that they don't seem to honor their coupons or promotions. They also don't advertise deals properly and when the mistake is called out, they won't correct it. I've come to this location for several years, overall, their wine selection is pretty good, nice selection of produce, decent inventory. They are going to be a little bit more expensive than some of the other grocery stores in the area but, it's not bad. What is bad, on more than one occasion, the pricing has been off. Meaning the price that is rung up is not the advertise price. Today was the same situation. An item rang up for $41, but the tag on the shelf said $21. The manager came over and gave a half assed. Explanation as a mistake and said they would not honor the price because of their alcohol license. But wait a minute, if they can't discount alcohol, why is there a whole section of discount discounted alcohol, complete with 50% off discounts? Hmmmmmm. Doesn't make sense. I always grab a cart from the time I get out of my car that I park in handicap parking legally . * I am 74years old, & I had major lower back surgery 9 years ago. I do this everywhere. The cart is not only to facilitate shopping but also FOR WALKING AND STABILITY ! Today I went in this Pavillions with a small cart looking for my favorite Rockstar drink on sale. I looked in the aisle and the one I liked best was gone (most popular).. and I returned down the main aisle past the registers with an empty cart to return to my car. I happened to glance to my right while walking and I noticed an "employee?" with a large set of keys slightly behind me -hmm Then as I was about to exit the store, the cart locked it's wheels . - Right in the doorway. I thought it had hit a stone? but no, wheel lock. I had to leave it but immediately looked back , and a somewhat overweight employee came up to it with a remote and unlocked it . I accused him of intentially locking it be he denied it and walked away with the cart. * He then sarcastically said "Have a nice day" At this point there were other people watching . I was dressed in 100 dollar Vans shoes, new shorts new long sleeve white shirt, and I wear nothing to identify myself with any political or ANY affiliation ! ....and I was just treated like a homeless person trying to own a Pavillions cart ! I was also now on my own to walk to my car.. which is with a gate I'm not proud of. Great store, however, service is terrible. I try to avoid this location. I have many stories to tell...I'll just tell you one of them. One time I approached the Deli Counter to place an order. The employee didn't acknowledge me. Even though I was right in front of them and we made eye contact...it was strange. They turn their back and start working the deli workstation. It felt like they were trying to avoid me. It was so awkward. I wait 5 minutes, until I finally say "excuse me?" The employee tells me to wait. So I wait like 15 minutes (I kept looking at my phone to see the time) He finally takes my order. I ask him what he was working on...if he had a big customer order to fulfill. He tells me it's for the store floor....not any actual customer orders. So he had me waiting 20 minutes for NOTHING! LITERALLY 20 minutes! He could have done this after he took my order. Plus, there were plenty of deli products out on the floor. There was no urgency. I still regret not asking to see the manager for this situation. It was poor customer service. This is a very large Pavilions with wide aisles and considerable open space. There's a third lateral aisle across the middle of the store. I discovered this the hard way when I couldn't find the Coffee aisle on the front-of-the-store signage. Anyway, K-Cup and Starbucks coffee dominate the coffee section. Don Francisco coffee (which was on sale) was three facings tucked away on the bottom shelf ... an NO decaf. read more

This review is for Pavilions bakery. I bought a 3 inch fruit tart and was disappointed to find that they use some form of chocolate icing to stick the tart shell to the board. Not only does this change the taste but it could also cause a serious problem for people who have an allergy. If it's not listed in the ingredients it's shouldn't be included in the item. Juan V. who served me at the meat counter was extra helpful by selecting the best snow crab legs and bagging them to my specification. Their liquor dept. is impressive. They have an extensive collection of wines from Paso Robles and many hard-to-find single varietal wines, including my favorites: Cabernet Franc & Mourvèdre. I Recently placed an order in the floral department to be delivered. I had to call the store with some special instructions and was transferred to their home delivery department. My call was promptly answered by a very friendly employee named Wyatt . He listened to my needs and noted my requests. The following day, when the order was delivered, there was a little problem in the consistency of the flower arrangements. I ordered two of the same items, as they were centerpieces.. I called immediately and was lucky enough to once again connect with Wyatt. He promptly took care of the problem and had a replacement order delivered within less than an hour . I have worked in the customer service business for many years. Lately it seems to be a dying breed. But after interacting with Wyatt at Pavillions and Laguna Niguel, my faith in customer service was restored. He was amazing at taking care of the issue and was very professional!! Pavillions is very lucky to have an employee like Wyatt! Due to my interaction with him, I will highly recommend this location for any home delivery needs, and plan to visit the store in person and thank him! I don't shop at this location very often but I stopped in because they sell Diamond Crystal kosher salt. I'd been looking for it locally for a while and didn't realize that Vons carried it. The last time I was at this location, it had been a Vons; now, it's a Pavilions. It's got wider aisles, probably due to COVID. The store looks clean. I had a great evening with some very friendly forgiving staff shopping here at 8:15PM on 3/3/2023. I'll tell you why: I bought a jar of vlasic Sweet Relish and I accidentally dropped it on the floor and cracked it! The male manager and female employee were so kind to me and didn't obligate me to pay for it. However, because of their kindness and generosity to me, I paid for it anyway. I appreciate their forgiving me for all the trouble and work I caused them to clean it up. I will be back to this Pavilion's just for the staff alone! Staff: I've been shopping here for probably 13 years, back when it was called Vons. Over the years I've been very happy with the customer service. Maybe once I had an issue, but considering the fact that I shopped here almost every single weekend over 13 years that's a pretty good percentage of good experiences. Today I had Pam help me with curbside pick up. She was so sweet, friendly, and personable. Pam represents the store in a very positive light and definitely keeps my business coming back. Value: Pavilions pricing is likely higher than other stores. However, my theory is you get what you pay for. The quality of the food, the customer service, the assortment of options, and overall shopping experience makes it worth it Overall: I really like the store which is the reason why I have shopped here for so many years. I am writing this review for the Pavilions Bakery in Laguna Niguel. I have frequently ordered a Tres Leches Cake for our family reunions and they have been very fresh and beyond delicious. Cristina has been my baker/decorator and she's very accommodating and does a fantastic job with customizing your needs. I ordered a "spring flowers #3 cake" and I thought I would get exactly as the picture shown, but they made a completely different cake, it was brown with yellow and pink flowers. I literally walked in here to pee and was accused of stealing "buzz ballz". I did nothing wrong and was minding my own business not even walking through the alcohol isle and was accused of stealing one "like I always do" . I have never even been to the store before and was very offended that I would even be accused of this. Terrible terrible customer service and I will never be returning because of this. Sadly this store downsized. I thought they were remodeling but I didn't expect it to shrink. They hardly carry the amount of products they used to and shouldn't be called a Pavillions anymore. It should go back to being a Vons or become an Albertsons. The only thing that didn't shrink is the produce area, bakery and deli. The main part of the shopping aisles have a reduced selection. I was in the store around 3pm on March 14 and experienced the worst interaction with a checker at the register I have ever had. She was an older white woman that NEVER acknowledged me as she checked me out and bagged my groceries. I don't expect them to offer me a cup of Starbucks & croissant, a hello would be sufficient. Third time's the charm? In this case, no, it isn't! This grocery store is notorious for messing up your delivery order. 1st time: the order never gets delivered, and then after calling a few time, the replacement order never gets delivered. Another 3-4 phone calls later and finally I get refunded. 2nd time around, all the produce was spoiled and ROTTEN, to a point that you could smell it without taking them out of the bag! As in, someone decided to bag every bit of produce-gone-bad that for sure was not going to get picked in the store! 3rd time, learning from my previous mistakes, I skipped the produce and decided to just order pantry items! Ha ha smart, right? Wrong again! Items were missing and at least 10 items were substituted and/or picked by mistake; Bean soup instead of lentil soup, White bread instead of whole wheat, green tea instead of ginger tea, etc. etc. etc. NEVER AGAIN!!! Pavilions, you need to educate and train your order fulfillment department, this is ridiculous! If there's an issue with an order and you call the store, they ask you to call The corporate e-commerce center, and then the Ecom center tells you to call the store back and figure it out with them!!! This has to be the worst run market I've seen. A couple weeks ago they forgot to give me several items. After phone calls, my husband went to pick up for me and of course they couldn't find it. Somehow they finally did. Today I needed just a few things, and it's on my way home. Get the things, go to check out. The woman in front of me is buying several bottles of wine etc. The checker rang it wrong. Then another girl had some sort of key to fix it except not the right one. She tells the checker to call someone. Meanwhile the line is growing behind me. The checker say she doesn't know how to call someone. The one with the wrong key doesn't answer or help but opens a line next to ours and motions for the guy behind me to come to her line. I live at the beach in Dana Point and make the drive to this Pavilion to shop. The produce guy knows I love fruits and veggies and always recommends new things to try. Then today while checking out the cashier asked me if I use my gas rewards. YES, of course, I said. He then pointed out that if I download the app, it will not only remind me if my rewards are expiring, but he showed me how I can use my rewards for coupons and purchases! Who knew? While I appreciate Dawn's response and offer for me to contact with an order number, I had already contacted my local store who did a replacement. THEN I receive an email from Cathi of the Customer Support Team who stated, " If an item you have ordered is temporarily unavailable at the time your order is shopped, our personal shoppers will fill the remainder of your order using the substitution preferences you selected prior to checkout. If you do not wish to receive a substitution that may be, please select "No substitutions" on the item(s) in question. You may also provide notes to your shopper as well. On this order, you selected to receive substitutions. As a one-time courtesy, we have processed a refund for the O Organics Organic Milk Reduced Fat 2% Milkfat Lactose Free Half Gallon you received. You should receive your refund in three to five business days." So, basically it's my fault I received a poor substitution, but she will grant me a refund in hopes this fixes everything. How high-handed of her. So not only are fulfillment clerks not trained to know the difference between milk products, Customer Service/Support Team Members are allowed to unilaterally make correction decisions to avoid actually correcting a problem, a pre-emptive action in the hopes of avoiding actual dialog with a customer. The refund does not fix anything. This issue is just an indication to me that this corporation does not really care about customer needs at the base level. read more

This store has been our saving grace during this uncertain time. Shopping here for the past 16 years. They know my name, they know what I like . I have people that come up to me and let me know my favorite coffee creamer is now back in stock. If something i've bought is not right, I walk back in with it and they never ask for a receipt they just replace it. When they switched from Vons to Pavillions last year. They all realized we were a bit confused by the new set up and all the changes. They would stop you , apologize for the big change and offer to guide you to where everything had moved around. While checking out this evening, the bagger, Calvin, noticed that the medley of tomatoes I was purchasing was not as fresh as it should have been. He pointed it out and went to find me a better package. He was unable to find a package that was fresh. I was able to find a substitute item. They know who I am and pull my medication out without asking my name.
