My review is more like 3 1/2 stars but closer to 4 than 3 on our visit this past Monday. The chief…read morenegatives to me were (1) that a few of the food trays were more warm than hot when food was transfered to the plate (2) seeing some unhappy employee faces and (3) the ice cream machine was not in service. However, drink refills were fairly timely and most of the food was very good, though my lady said the mac and cheese was subpar. The baked fish was rather dry. The cheesy broccoli soup was decent, though all the broccoli in the soup were "crumbs". Some of the truly excellent offerings were the fried shrimp, bourbon chicken, beef stew and what looked like burnt pork, though I had to scrape out what little remained. The riblets were fine and tender but missing BBQ sauce. Salad bar was good and plenteous. Loved the ICEE machine, mixing the cherry flavor with cherry limeade. The blueberry pie was OK but what really off the charts was their strawberry/cherry (was not identified which) cake. It was not something I would expect a buffet to serve. The presentation was so-so but the taste was gangster, something you might find in an upscale eatery. Highlight dessert. Upon check in to pay, the cashier told our party of 3 that they were out of several items and for that reason took 10% off the bill, a very nice gesture which kicked my 3 star rating to 4. Three of the items said to be unavailable were the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and meatloaf. However, the mac and cheese was available about halfway thru dinner as were the mashed potatoes. The potatoes were fine but as noted in the first paragraph, not so much the mac and cheese. The $16 charge for me and my lady (we're "young seniors") was fair. There's obvious need for improvement at this location but the one star review from last month is baffling. Although I had none of the fried chicken, it looked fine to me and my lady said it was good so I am a bit skeptical of Chris's lengthy negative review, though I concede it's possible. It was a bit of a drive to come here from Michigan City where my family is but the sizable amount of food available was still a blessing, despite a few lackluster offerings. I may return but I may also consider the Merrillville or Mishawaka locations for a classier experience. Still overall not bad here but admittedly it does need some oomph.

If I were rating on that, I'd give it one star, but that wouldn't be fair to little Caesar. (Caesar's is the current operator. No Binion here.) The smoke is bad. Very few people were lighting up, but the stagnant remainders of "freedom" made my throat burn. (And no, a token smoke-free area completely surrounded by smoking is nothing but a cruel charade! You gotta be kidding!) It's a pleasant place otherwise: nice and spacious inside, a good variety of slots and tables to lose your money and pay for the lovely lights, and staff were friendly. Would I go back? I have no idea. It's not my scene to begin with, but I don't think I'd protest if someone dragged me there. If there were a next time, I'd bring a good mask. And maybe a good psychiatrist.

As soon as I walked in I was overwhelmed with the smell of cigarette smoke making it very hard for me to breathe. They do have a non smoking section but the smoke smell is so overwhelming from the other sections it really doesn't make a difference. Left after ten minutes of walking around the casino.

I've dined here quite a lot this past year. 100% of my orders have been takeout or delivery. Every…read moresingle time the food has been FRESH, ON TIME, and nothing has been missing or made incorrectly from my order. This most recent time I had the Sweet and Sour Chicken, Szechuan Beef & The Peanut Butter Won Tons! The Sweet & Sour Chicken is just basic fried chicken pieces, some white rice, and the sweet & sour sauce w/pineapple, green pepper, onion & tomato. I just love the blend of tangy sauce with the fried chicken and the texture of the rice. It's comforting and tasty. You can't go wrong here. The Szechuan Beef was a bit spicy (it's labeled as such) which is what I wanted; filled with cabbage, onion, broccoli, and peppers along with tender juicy strips of beef in a tangy spicy sauce. It is also served with a side of white rice (You can sub fried rice for an additional charge). My favorite part and the item I look forward to the most here is the Peanut Butter Won Tons! They are crispy, crunchy and filled with a sweet peanut butter filling. It's like dessert. SO GOOD! You get quite a few of them (6-7) for the appetizer. I've tried noodle dishes, egg foo young, and even the BBQ Pork app...everything is great. Love this place. I have NOT dined in yet, but I enjoy takeout Chinese - I usually have food for another day after as well.

My parents and I arrived Christmas Day around 6 PM before a concert. I had seen a lot of the poor…read morereviews beforehand but decided to ignore them which I should not have. The first thing that we noticed was the chaotic mess outside of the entrance of the buffet. There appeared to be three lines outside corresponding to the casino's rewards system but no one was following it. After making sure of which line we were supposed to go to (which wasn't the one that was marked), we started to wait for around 15 minutes before people randomly decided to start a new line next to the right one even though there was only one cashier servicing that area so them making a new line made no sense and only made the messy area even more chaotic. And none of the employees standing around helped to police the madness. In order to get into the dinning area you have to pay for the buffet first. The lady up front at the register was unbelievably slow. It also didn't help that it was just one person trying to take care of a rapidly growing line (plus the random side line that had developed). The cost of the buffet itself is around $25/person and honestly it is not worth it. When you enter the dining area the first thing that strikes you is the vast variety of food encompassing various cuisines. But the food quality of all of them was pretty mediocre especially regarding the price. The main redeeming quality of the food was the dessert area. The creme brule was delicious in addition to the gelato. The main issue with it though was that all of the desserts are hidden behind a glass window and the worker behind the glass was also very slow and emotionless. As soon as people started lining up, the entire dessert area just got backed up. It would have been more efficient to just open up the area and have people serve themselves. And this whole issue shows the bigger problem with the buffet. The service in all sections is absolutely abysmal. It took me around 20 minutes after sitting down just to try and get my server's attention in order to try and get three glasses of water for our table. She would just flit from one table to the other and not once did she glance over in our direction. The only reason why we managed to get our glasses of water around 40 minutes later was because we had asked one of the busboys who passed by for the water and they finally passed that along to the constantly disappearing waitress. Additionally, our server barely came by to clean the plates off the table. They would be stacking up uncomfortably high before she would come by and picked them up. We thought we had to give the tip before we entered but I don't think you need to, so if you are given that option definitely don't leave the tip afterwards just to make sure you don't get the same terrible service that we were or if you do that you will be able to tip accordingly. All in all, I have no idea if there are other food options around the casino but there probably is, so definitely try to get those before you settle for this sad buffet.

He automatically assist me when he sees me arrive knowing I'm on a knee scooter from a recent surgery. He jumps to action and gets me in and out of my vehicle and in and out of the casino with excellent customer service while doing so. My second compliment is to Cameron. He's a hotel clerk and he has basically saved lives with an issue I brought to his attention about fire safety in the hotel. He said he'd let his supervisor know immediately. The next day the safety issue I had saw was correct. Kudos Cameron!! Your quick actions may have eventually saved lives. My third compliment is to Dureil. Not positive how it's spelled this amazing clerk his very positive and he has awesome customer service skills. He's very respectful and he assisted me with moving my items from a room that smelled of smoke into a reissued room for me. Highly respect this gentleman for his assistance. Fourth and not least is David King. I had an accidental overcharge to my account from Ameristar and he jumped to action at 3am to leave notes to the day supervisor to assist returning the overcharge to me. His actions immediately got the day supervisor to reverse charges back to me before I left the hotel for errands that very morning. And a second compliment to David King. The very next day he helped assist extending stays for me to help with my surgery recovery and to readjust to a disabled room due to the fact I'm on a knee scooter and had trouble accessing the shower. These four displayed amazing customer services skills and Ameristar staff please recognize these gentlemen. They went above and beyond their duties and made my stay a more comfortable stay than I had expected. I also want to add two excellent individuals in Club 38. I want to recognize Martha. She keeps Club 38 constantly clean Everytime my fiance and I visit. She is an awesome human being and she is always alone when she works and gives great customer service despite being overworked. I also like to compliment the crew that hands out the food. They know me and my fiance are vegetarians and immediately jump to action to help our dietary needs. I especially like to give a shout out to Tish. The day I came in after my surgery she told me that when I return she will definitely assist me to my table with my items and if I need anything during my recovery she will definitely take care of me. I also want to give kudos to a slot attendant also. Her name is Michelle. She sees me and my fiance and she gets excited and gives us both hugs. She is an amazing human and makes us feel comfortable and welcomed to the casino. Also, please recognize Danielle at the brothers burger/late night sportsbet bar. She is awesome. She is provides amazing customer service and goes above and beyond for me and my fiance.
