This place was a disappointment. The food was ok but food was way over priced and the service was horrible. The server didn't even bother to ask if we wanted anything else had to ask for drinks several times before they were brought over. I would not recommend this place they are better brewery around with better beer and food selection and a better vibe. read more

Beer tasty. They do offer half pours (although the menu doesn't list that) The quality of the paper menus that were handed to us was not that legible. It was like they made a copy of multiple copies. Service was friendly. Bartender was also busy changing out multiple kegs while trying to serve guests at the bar. She was friendly. There was one server wearing a winter knit cap (in July) pouring beer for her tables instead of helping out her coworker with the guests. Inside was very dark. My boyfriend and I went here for a date night and we absolutely loved it! The cocktails were incredible, service was fantastic, and the cheese curds were so well seasoned and delicious. I was so pleasantly surprised to find this place as I'm not originally from Hammond or even live near there, so this was a nice treat when we visited. We have been here a number of times, however, this is my first review. I wanted to make sure that I added a picture. It's nice and dim inside and they do have a patio seating area outdoors. This is a great place to ride your bike to. They have a nice variety of beer and other drinks. They offer a House beer and shot of 18th St. distillery, rye whiskey for $7. They have the best poutine that I have ever tasted, but they no longer offer that. Last night we had the cheese curds which were greasy and had too much breading on them. We have always had friendly bartenders, and last night was no exception. I also hear they have a great running club on Wednesday nights. I'd like to check that out. read more

Such a gem in Hammond! We have always heard of 18th streets beer but nothing beats getting it on tap. We stopped by their taproom which is also connected to their distillery. Make sure you walk through the right door, they're two separate rooms in the same building! My husband got the flight to try a little of everything. With their flights, you get to select 6 beers. They were all pretty good! We also ordered the ghost pepper burger with fries and the cheese curds. The burger was good, but the fries were a little lacking. The cheese curds were unique but good! Not many food choices for people who don't eat meat - vegetarians, pescatarians, and vegans beware. I am pescatarian and they have zero seafood on the menu. My choices were nachos, cheese curds, and soft pretzel. I had the nachos but I was hungry an hour later. Cool space. The greatest hip hop / R & B hits of all time playing. I like this place and the beer is good but the menu is underwhelming. Also positive is the staff was super friendly and helpful and I love the atmosphere. Beer garden looks cool too but we were there in December. As I already said the menu is pretty small. We were there around open, 11 am or so, and they were out of the Buffalo chicken sandwich, the Cuban, and anything with pork. We are living in some crazy, challenging times so I'm sure there is a good reason they were out of that stuff but that makes it tough with an already small menu. We were basically left to decide between a salad, burgers, grill cheese and cheese quesadillas. Also fyi, pop comes in cans. The appetizers were good, small, but good. The curds were better than the pretzel in my opinion. Also, I loved my burger, adding the bacon and egg is is for sure the right way thing to do. My oldest didn't like the sauce on the burger but he's a teenager, what does he know. If you have an eater like that you may want to order without the sauce. The tots and fries were both pretty good. My youngers had the cheese quesadilla and I thought that was honestly pretty good and good size as well. Favorite beer hands down was Here comes the Reaper, but I also thought the Bait n Switch, and Vanilla Stout were very good. Definitely get yourself a flight or two, we'll worth it. read more

This place is a bit confusing since there are separate entrances for the 18th Street Distillery vs the Brewery, but I am only seeing the Brewery on Yelp. I had seen some of their cocktails on social media, so I was excited to give them a try. I met a couple people there, and we all managed to go to the Brewery side initially, so I was confused looking over the menu and not seeing the cocktails I'd expected to see. I asked the server, and she explained that we had to go outside and enter in the other door. I'm not a beer drinker, so I waited while everyone else finished their beers so we could go next door to the Distillery. We tried several of the drinks on the menu and enjoyed everything. It's really awesome to see a place like this in Hammond, and I can't wait to go back. read more

I came here 2 years ago and loved it, haven't been since but wanted to share it with my family that's closer who can come more often. Big mistake. I called 2 days in advance to let them know I had a group of 9-15 people coming. I didn't realize I was calling the Gary location until I arrived. I arrived before my group to get all particulars, when we arrived I talked with who I assumed was the manager who was a bit rude and very unfriendly. I assumed it was because she wasnt expecting this large group. I apologized a few times but saw there was space available and also know they dont take reservations so it shouldn't have been a big deal. We ordered drinks and a appetizer before the group arrived which is the only reason we stayed. My family is friendly to a fault, everytime they asked a question it was like they were bothering the staff. We had more people join us and it was a problem even though it was empty seats available. I was soo disappointed in how unfriendly and unwelcoming the staff was. We spent almost $500 and would have spent much more if we felt valued. I can say the food was still delicious and beer options were tasty but overall we all walked away very unhappy with no plans to return. read more

Originally went just for the brewery and food, which were great! pork belly bites tasted amazing, the chicken sando was really juicy and flavorful. my boyfriend and father got the friday special BBB, pretty good deal whiskey and a beer with a special burger and fries for $20 but the blue cheese in the burgers were a little too much but whadda gonna do? it's just how they're made. also really good service:) the 3 stars is because of the distillery next door. easily the worst drinks all three of us had. $12 for a old fashion with a LEMON? just didn't taste right. i got the girl bye girl from their special pride month menu. I rated their Gary location a few years ago but since then they've moved most of their operations to Hammond; so much so that they have a brewery, a distillery and their sister brewery Sour Note, right down the street. What hasn't changed is that the beers they have a great, I do miss being able to get a sour beer since they've spun that off but you can still find a great range of styles to choose from, all of which I've enjoyed. I've had the food there multiple times and since they've added barbecue to the menu that's basically all that I've ordered. I usually end up with the two meat platter and while the meat is good the potato salad is phenomenal-I end up getting a double serving of that. If you have the day blocked off I'd just end up going from the distillery to the brewery to their sours and have an Uber standing by. read more

This place was really laid back. I've been wanting to come here for a while, so me and hubby went for a date night. There were two different entrances too. One was just basically the bar however you could order food there. The other was more of a restaurant type setup. Two different menus as well. The food was hot and delicious. My husband enjoyed his burger and I enjoyed my fish and chips. The service was great as well. They were really friendly and recommended my drink since I like the fruity stuff. A Sanctuary for the Foodie and the Beer Lover!! I stopped into the 18th Street Brewery while in the area for business. I had been to the Miller location previously to buy beer and learn more about this brewery. I travel to the area quite often and I've been to 3 Floyds, and the Byway so I had to cross this place off the list. This is not only a local favourite but USA Today had listed this Brewery as one of the best in the nation so I had to check it out. As I pulled up to the parking lot in an industrial area, I saw that they had a fenced-off patio area with families and kids enjoying food and beer in the warm sunshine. I walked around to the sidewalk and went in through the front door where I saw the graphic designs and artwork of the Brewery. The Brewery itself is sectioned off in four areas, the first is the regular dining area and kitchen, the bar, and behind the bar is the group seating and party area while the other half of the brewery is the warehouse and shipping area. This is a great sight to behold as you really get a feel for the amount of beer that they produce and the amount of beer they ship out locally and nationally. Now to the beer and the food!! I sat at the bar and was greeted warmly by the bartender who took his time to recommend beers to try and help me navigate the menu as it was my first time eating at the 18th. I sampled some of the higher alcohol beers like Deal with Devil and Disciples Revenge but settled on a lighter flight when I had dinner. My food choices that night were the smoked wings, juicy, tangy, tasty and a perfect match to my flight. My main course that night was the delectable Pork Tenderloin. Smoked to perfection, with an amazing tenderness throughout, it was probably one of the best Pork Tenderloins I've had in a long time. To recap, the beer, space, the vibe, the food were all indicators of very well run business and establishment who care and are passionate about their beer, their food their ambiance and the way they treat guests. The 18th Street Brewery is a must if you're ever in the Chicago, Northern Indiana area. If not then ask your local beer retailer to stock 18th Street beers, even if they're only for you. read more

We stopped by on a weekday afternoon on our way home from the beach. We sat on their patio, which is dog friendly and spacious. They have a good beer menu and a few other things, like cider and seltzer, for non-beer lovers. Their food menu is pretty extensive. Lots of savory and heavier foods that looked delicious, but we weren't totally in the mood for at the time. We had the firecracker shrimp and the house burger. Both were delicious! I really enjoyed the shrimp. It was lightly battered, served with sweet and sour sauce. It wasn't spicy to me, though. The cheese burger was solid and came with fries.
