I don't like writing poor reviews, but I do write honest ones.... This morning, I went what was formerly Andrea's on Pine (). Sadly, they have closed, replaced by H. Cheval Coffee. It is the same lovely space, with a tree covered patio, as well as indoor tables. It is a counter service establishment. Food selection is limited primarily to muffins, but they do offer quiche. I ordered a piece of the Quiche and a latte for breakfast. Actually, it would be hard to be more disappointed....the latte was very hohum and the quiche tasted at least "day old". One cut side was dried out, the crust hard (vs. flaky), with the general overall flavor uninteresting. It contained prosciutto (yum), but was dense and dry. This place used to be very busy on a Saturday morning....not today, although a few regulars were warmly greeted by the barista. (In contrast, The Red Scooter Deli, across the street, was packed!) This is most likely my last visit, to what was a favorite breakfast spot. read more

Staff is great and always greets me as soon as I walk in. Ambiance is great and so open space especially for my dogs outside! I will say that their matcha is not the best :/ . I had one a few days ago and it tasted more like milk than it did matcha. I would've let the staff know but was on the go. read more

I got an iced mocha and it was delicious--good balance of the coffee and chocolate and the perfect cold treat for an extremely hot summer day. The lavender latte with almond milk - just get it. SOOOOOOO good. Perfectly balanced and smooth and not too sweet. It was one of the best lavender lattes I've had. I will say it was hot as hell in the store. The doors were open and outside patio was packed. I have no clue how the staff work in there when it's so hot. Single espresso and matcha latte were good. They heated the butter croissant and it was too soft. Croissants should be crispy on the outside and flakey in the center. Also ordered the quiche. While it was tasty (ham and cheese) the crust was rubbery and hard to cut with the fork. Crust should be flakey and easy to break. Service was very good, baristas were friendly and efficient. Perhaps they should ask if you want the croissant heated or not. Trios as to how they taste and feel at room tempo. Also nice that our dog was allowed to sit inside. read more

The service is way too slow. 20 mins for being the third in line is pretty bad. The previous two guests only have 2 drinks each.

Food: Okay so... this actually might be one of the best lattes and cappuccinos that I've had.... -Regular hot latte with almond milk ($6= $5 + $1 extra for almond milk) -Cappuccino with almond milk ($5.50 = $4.50 + $1 extra for almond milk) -Both drinks were sooo creamy, smooth, and delicious; they used their "let's ride" espresso beans that day. As far as their food items go, they offer some baked goods. Service: The barista greeted us with a BIG smile and was so kind to us the whole time; it was great to see someone genuinely enjoying what they were doing. Ambiance: It's a charming cafe. They sell apparel, a variety of pre-packaged beans, and 1lb bags of choice for $20. There's indoor and outdoor seating; the outdoor patio is very spacious and quite beautiful. The single stall restroom is huge, clean, and well-maintained. It's a dog-friendly cafe, so dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio and they even offer dog treats. 5/5-- Highly highly recommended!!! read more

The gorgeous outdoor patio H. Cheval Coffee, is lined with colorful flowers, shaded by aged trees, and with a tranquil fountain bubbling in the background, softly welcoming patrons in. The coffee shop itself had an odd aroma when I visited that was not so pleasant and a bit off-putting. My friend wanted a chai latte, but upon asking the cashier, we were informed they were all out of chai. Throughout the interior photography of various horses elegantly prance across the walls. I had an iced americano, which was expensive and not so luxurious to the taste. I made the decision to travel through the entryway, then sipped on my drink outside on the enchanting patio, and enjoyed a fine conversation while avoiding the heat of the day. read more

A lovely coffee shop in the Paso Robles next to a very antique hotel. The staff is very lovely and delicious pastries. We tried the hot latte with a butter croissant. The outside garden is beautiful with a brick building next to it. I highly recommend this place if you want to chill and relax during your road trip or even a brunch morning. read more

First time in Paso and stopped by here for some coffee! It seemed pretty busy so I was very hopeful that it be good coffee and it did not disappoint. I wish I knew our cashiers name as he was so enthusiastic and friendly which really adds to a good experience. They had various house made syrups which all sounded amazing but ended up with their honey vanilla and it was delicious! I'm already thinking about coming back if I'm ever back in town. read more

This spot is very well decorated. It's simple and tasteful. There is seating both indoors and outdoors including an adorable patio with live plants and a fountain. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. They're also quick to answer questions and create the beverage you want. I ordered a coconut vanilla honey steamer. I loved that it had a great deal of foam but was a little bit disappointed in the honey vanilla aspect of the drink. I felt it could've been a little bit more bold. The pricing is a little high, which you can expect right off of the square and organic. Overall a good location with ample Street parking... Metered and by the farmers market. read more

Visiting the coast, we stopped by this coffee shop while stopping through Paso. My husband got a hot latte and it was good but once I got my iced matcha infused with lavender, he wanted my drink. The gal that made it, made it perfectly! Not overly sweet or bitter. I craved another one and wanted to stop again on the way home. Unfortunately, my husband is like a horse to the barn! Very cute coffee and tea shop with both inside and outside seating. If it isn't too hot outside, sit outside. It's a very nice outdoor space. They also carry a small selection of pastries. The coffee is seriously great, had both hot and iced lattes from here and would get them both again. Don't go here if you're in a rush, because they usually only have one barista but she rocks it so it's worth the wait. read more

I'm on the hunt for cafes in Paso Robles that I can work from and H. Cheval is my most recent find! The corner seat near the window is super comfortable and has tons of room for me to layout my computer, notebooks, and water bottle. My go to order is a vanilla latte and the ham croissant, which are so good together! I love that this coffee shop is right in the downtown Paso square, close to other shops and restaurants. I've never had an issue with parking but could see it being a problem more so on the weekends. read more

What a delightful discovery!!! We're THRILLED to find it and be there this morning for a little "birthday celebration" for two. Truly lovely inside (as it was still nippy and foggy outside). Lovely classic chill tunes playing, a very cheerful & kind counter staff, DELICIOUS coffee (one latte and one cap)... very nice "leather?" covered chairs, clean, charming as can be! We stayed two hours and observed every guest was warmly welcomed. On our way out, the outdoor patio was so inviting with a fountain babbling, sun streaming onto the courtyard and where we'll try next time!! So much more "customer" friendly without the high-noise-level and hustle. Across from the Movie Theatre on Pine and Paso Terra. If you're gonna meet for a morning (or daytime) coffee treat (and there are treats too)... and want to feel a calming environment WITH delicious coffees... check this place out!! H. Chevalier Coffee is a really cute coffee shop that reminds me of something in New Orleans, near the French Quarter. It has that vibe. Especially the outdoor seating. It's quiet, intimate and feels off the beaten path, even though it's near the park. We ordered a run-of-the-mill Almond Milk Vanilla Latte and an off-menu Lavender Honey (?) Almond Milk Latte. Both were good. Something that I'd drink again. Good coffee. Very cool spot. Would recommend checking it out for good vibes and good coffee. read more

Been coming up to Paso Robles since '85, and this place just opened up. H. Cheval Coffee has great coffee and service. The barista Angel, he knows his coffee. He was not only super friendly but explained the different notes of the Expresso beans (how I roll). The expresso was so good, I bought some of theirs beans. I will be coming back!
