Beautiful building with tall ceilings and an old vault! So much SEATING and great for studying or meeting a friend. Staff is very friendly and helpful in describing options. Drinks were great they had lattes made with in house syrups. I ended up trying one of the specials called the WILDERNESS LATTE and it was great! They have a drink dispenser at the counter with pre-made matcha to fill your cup? Unsure how often they switch it out, but it's very watery and bitter, could hardly taste it. I feel bad for writing this review but I was underwhelmed with the matcha that we ordered. I don't think this is fair because we are from LA and the quality of the matcha that we have out there is very difficult to beat. However, I didn't like how a lot of the matcha that they have seemed premade already. You can see it mixing in the machine to keep it "fresh" or "prepared". The service that we experienced was absolutely amazing, everyone was so nice and they said that the matcha was a fan favorite. I'm sure other things on the menu were much better than what we ordered, so if I'm in the area I'd love to give this place another try. I stopped into Scout Coffee while in Morro Bay and really enjoyed this spot. I love how they repurposed the old bank and kept the original vault. It gives the coffee shop a unique feel and adds so much character to the space. I had the pain au chocolat, which was yummy with a nice dark chocolate flavor. For coffee, I ordered a latte with their house-made Raw Sugar and Whiskey syrup. The coffee was smooth, and the latte was just sweet enough without the syrup overpowering the coffee. I kept seeing this coffee shop all over social media as one of the best coffee spots in SLO County, so I knew I had to check it out for myself. When I walked in, I was impressed by how open and spacious the café felt. There was plenty of seating, making it a great place to relax or get some work done. What immediately caught my attention, though, was the pastry case since I'm a huge fan of pastries. I ended up ordering a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant. The cappuccino was okay, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. The espresso tasted fairly light, and I personally prefer a stronger, more complex espresso flavor. Overall, the drink leaned a bit too milky for my taste. The chocolate croissant was also just average. I was a little disappointed when I overheard that pastries could be warmed up upon request. I imagine it would have tasted much better warm. It would be helpful if staff mentioned this option when customers order in-store, especially for first-time visitors. Otherwise, how would new customers know? Overall, the service was friendly, and the coffee shop has a beautiful modern atmosphere. While the ambiance stands out, I found the coffee and pastries to be just okay. Such a beautiful, bright space with friendly service and amazing coffee and food! My sister and I went on a Sunday morning and it was super busy. Many of the inside tables were taken and the outdoor patio was filling up as well. My sister grabbed a turkey and Gruyère sandwich from the cold case and had it heated up. I opted for the savory danish with leeks and potato. Both dishes were delicious. The Turkey sandwich was heart and more than enough to share. My danish was flaky and the leek and potato filling was so rich and tasty. We also shared a berry crumble. For coffee I got the vanilla bean latte. It was so smooth and delicious. First time visiting and this is easily one of the nicest places to grab coffee in San Luis Obispo County. A great addition to Morro Bay with a very large parking lot in the back, and I noticed EV charging available as well. The ambience is excellent and my coffee was perfect. I especially loved the lemon pistachio shortbread cookie so much that I went back and ordered a second one to go. Unfortunately, when I got back to my hotel I realized I had been given a chocolate chip cookie instead. I returned to exchange it, but they had already run out of the shortbread cookies, which was disappointing. Overall, a great experience, but I'm giving it four stars because of the order mix-up and the lack of remaining cookies when I returned. I love Scout Coffee. They make fantastic coffee and wonderful pastries. Their chocolate chip cookies the best I've ever had. However I am disappointed in the atmosphere in their Morro Bay store, it feels very industrial inside. It's not the kind of coffee shop where you are able to sit down in a comfortable chair and enjoy a coffee and pastry with a friend. The worst part was how noisy it is inside, the floors are cement and the ceilings are drywall. I used the decimal meter on my phone and the sound actually rose above 80 dB a few times when I was there. Eighty decibels is where the sound can damage your hearing. I hope that they will consider adding some comfortable seating and some acoustic panels on their ceiling someday. read more

I grabbed a Vanilla Bean Latte here at the Scout Coffee Morro Bay location. Guess what? It's actually a remodeled bank! They've got images inside that show how they did the renovations from start to finish. It's pretty interesting to see the full transformation while also keeping some of the banks original elements. Of course, the coffee is also well-made and delicious. My vanilla bean latte was so creamy and had a nice vanilla flavor that wasn't too overpowering. My parents got the Sunshine Special Latte, which had a hint of orange, it was surprisingly smooth. The staff was very courteous and they answered our questions about the menu and provided great recommendations for my parents who weren't sure what they wanted. Scout Coffee is one of the best places to visit in the SLO area, so you definitely have to check it out when you're in Morro Bay or SLO.
