I ended up getting an iced coffee with honey lavender syrup and 2%. Forgot to take a pic of it but it was delicious. We literally picked this coffee place cause we needed coffee and it came up first in the maps, and I am so happy it did. Inside is so cute and clean. The workers felt inviting and the space feels the same. Me and my husband like to try what's popular or what's new to us so we ask a lot of questions. Straight ahead you have to counter, menu, coffee, pastries, breakfast options, etc. To the right you have seating and self serve coffee additives and plates, etc. To the left, a large window to see all where all the roasting magic happens. I ordered a pound of Michael's Folly Espresso Beans, for my DeLonghi. Since I ordered a pound, he said I get a free 8oz drip! Score! The thing is, you want the beans to be roasted closer to the time you grind them and drink them. The more time that goes on, the more the oils dry out of the beans. To get the most out of your coffee: Get fresh roasted beans and grind every morning. My wife and I love the espresso beans here. My husband didn't care for his. I had a sip and I would have to agree. It seemed like there was too much milk. It was very frothy and you couldn't really taste the coffee. Can only speak to the matcha but their hot matcha latte is one of the best I've had. That's saying a lot as I have only drank matcha for many years and am a bit of a matcha snob when not making at home. Theirs is so good. Nice and earthy with a rich matcha flavor and perfect foam. Okay so set back, relax and let me tell you the story of how I found the best Chai I've ever tasted. It started out at the Red scooter Deli where my husband order an iced coffee. My husband thought the coffee was so amazing and asked me to take a sip. Now, I have been a tea person for a while now so I don't drink coffee but honestly the look on his face as he said "trust me" made me want to try it. I took a small sip and it was so good that it honestly almost made me turn back into a coffee drinker. Almost. What would you do if you just tasted something so amazing? Go back inside the restaurant and ask them about the source of course! We were provided the name "Joe Bella" by the Red Scooter staff and we proceeded to Google it and voila! 10 minutes away? Yes please! This coffee shop is located in a small town called Atascadero. We have driven up and down the 101 so many times throughout the years and never stopped here for any reason. So yeah the place is in the middle of nowhere, a true hidden gem. The staff are very nice and friendly. The decor is super cute and welcoming. When you first walk in you can see the roasting room to the left behind a glass window. So our initial purpose of coming here was to get some of the coffee beans that we had at Red Scooter but then I saw that they had chai latte on their menu. I figured if their coffee is amazing then their chai must be good. I ordered a 12oz iced Chai tea latte, light ice and with soy milk. Just like I order it from any other place. So I have tried chai tea lattes from A LOT of places and I've even tried making it at home. I've had some good ones but alot of times they're either too sweet, too strong, too bitter or not flavorful enough. I took the first sip and wow!! The flavors are there, no bitterness, not overpowered by cinnamon at all, very smooth, not overly sugary and very refreshing. I want this Chai everyday! I want this Chai in my life for the rest of my life! We ended up ordering 4 pounds of their deliciously roasted coffee beans and adding a new place to our favorites list. What an adventure! I saw all the reviews and decided to stop here for a coffee. The shop is located in a business/industrial looking center. I was greeted when I came in. The 2 baristas were both friendly and helpful. They didn't rush me or my partner for our order. I noticed they gave other customers the same courtesy even when a line formed. I got a small dirty chai and my partner got a small lavender vanilla honey latte. We could still taste the coffee in both drinks.
