Never go here on a Monday morning. The shelves are left ill stocked if not completely empty. No-one seems to have mastered the concept of facing products forward. Good luck taking advantage of BOGO sales as they never have enough product in stock. Pity there isn't another big chain in the area as it appears HEB is banking on being the only game in town. And the people in the meat department were very helpful in taking the silver membrane off the back of my Baby back ribs. which makes them fall off the bone tender when slow cooke in a smoker or cock pot and finished on a gas grill 6 minutes each side. We visit and shop at this HEB every week. It has come to be a family event on Saturdays or Sundays. Sometimes we go around lunch time and grab something from the grill there like a sausage wrap. I've had the grilled chicken before and it was really tasty. Other times we grab some sushi and meats and cheeses for the kids and sit down at the dining area and enjoy lunch. I wish they had a full meat market like they do with the seafood market. The seafood display has many options to choose from and you also have have the option to have the seafood steamed right there. Saturdays and Sundays are great days to visit because of the samples. They have a lot of sample stations as well as wine samples. I've seen samples on the weekdays on occasion as well. The checkout has always been tolerable but never disappointing. It gets busy on Sunday afternoons but that is expected. There are other HEB Plus stores in the area, I recommend you visit them all. Fredericksburg, TX and the newly opened store in Marble Falls, TX are the nicest we have been to. Worth a visit, check it out. read more

Really like this supermarket in Copperas Cove, some items are less expensive than Walmart, love their mesquite flavored roast beef and their Sushi section, especially the San Antonio rolls. They even have challah bread! 1 star deducted reasons: #1 Would be nice to have self-checkout instead waiting at cashier checkout. Whether express or regular, the wait time can be lengthy #2 Their Latin food aisle or as it called in Texas, the "Hispanic" aisle is limited to TexMex, not much for Goya, La Fe or Bahia products. BTW, "Coco Lopez cream of coconut" was ironically found in the beer & alcohol section, not the canned milk aisle. The place is more classy for middle class to high income people who wants to buy good qualities and spend more than usual cheap products than those that do not last long. We normally can walk around and enjoy looking for limited and own made products of H-E-B company.From fruits and vegetables raised from their own farms. Livestock choices chicken,beef,pork even delicious lambs meat packed from their own raised lands to grains and fishes ,lobsters,crabs everything. I mean not just farm products or food almost everything including napkins, men's products and medicines made from their own work of hands, machines and in their own factories or Pharma, little from their contract merchandisers. I felt we were happy that even if we only buy here sometimes I was able to taste the originality of their gifts as farm raisers from before they started H-E-B,factory workers and experienced supermarket business model from their past to present business work experiences in raising farms, making products, packing and selling to B2B with witty talents to produce awesome productions guaranteed to satisfy higher value of taste and standard, those that do not need to think of their budget or for special occasions. I was able to enjoy even the limited clothing line as simple as that "one company only designs". Weird but true.What else? Are all the products made by them except those merchandised? Yes. Definitely. Limited but with different choices for their customers that is why you should try to buy to their stores if you were out of stock from other stores that are not them really or be their member customer for discount items another weird but true stories to get good deals. You will be amazed what you will find there. Example, baked Frito Lays. Everytime I'm out of baked Frito Lays because it is hard to buy from the store where we usually get them I do not understand why those pack of Frito Lays are really displayed in the grocery item racks of H-E-B as easy as I can grab them and buy them as many as I can. This is practically BRAND NEW and in the small town of Copperas Cove. This reminds me a LOT of 'my' HEB at Mueller. The only differences? No cafe with amazing BBQ and craft beer on draft. Also, their beer selection isn't bad for where it is but could definitely be a bit better. That said, this areas beer selection as a whole isn't amazing but that's probably more due to distributors or lack thereof. read more

I have shopped here on occasion and always find myself wondering why I bother. Let me 'break it down'. The Good: Great selection. They are obviously trying, and succeeding, to rival the commissary when it comes to international foods. I see stuff from every continent and tons of items with writing I can't read. Clean. They are vigilant when it comes to keeping things looking good. Spills are attended to immediately and broken items are removed before you can blink. Friendly staff. Honestly, friendly staff. I have wondered if they get commission sometimes, it's creepy how much they just want to help. The bad: There is only one part of the store that is in need of improvement; the checkout stand. Every time I go the lines are long, there aren't enough lanes open, and the baggers disappear the moment it's my turn. You would think that someone would notice the lines and call for additional cashiers. You would think they may schedule cashiers based upon peak sales times. You would think this, but you would be wrong. About the baggers, if it happened once or twice I would say coincidence. Every time my husband and I go together the baggers leave me to bag my own groceries. I am not sure if it's because we are military or, perhaps, I have the face of someone who prefers to bag their own things. I'm not that person. The skinny: Yes, two stars with so much good. The cashier is the last person you see and ending on a bad note cancels anything positive they may be doing. read more

Nice restrooms! Much quieter and roomier than Killeen. Everyone is happy and nice, makes for a less stressful shopping experience. Even on payday or payday weekend, it is still a different, more relaxed crowd. My mom was very excited when this new store opened, but a few things have happened that make shopping here less than enjoyable. They used to separate out their organic produce, but now a lot of it is all mixed in with the non-organic produce and it is not very clearly labeled which is which. It is difficult for her to find good organic produce. We were looking for pickled garlic which is usually found with the jarred green olives, but we searched far and wide through this store and could not find any. We ended up getting them at a specialty foods store. Overall this is an upgrade to the original HEB in Cove, but there are definitely some kinks to be ironed out. read more

Disappointed with the H‑E‑B in Copperas Cove. I don't know who's in charge of the lettuce, the red leaf lettuce is always wilted in the case. Also no matter what you tell the folks in the deli section they will slice the cold cuts their way and not how you requested. The people who work here are the best, however, they sell the absolute worst steaks in the universe! I've bought Ribeyes and Sirloins here that a serrated steak knife won't even cut! So I'm gonna' have to saw 'em up and feed 'em to my dog and see if he'll eat them in order for them to not go to waste. I have been to several H-E-B's and this one is, by far, the best! There are always samples available in the Sushi and Bakery departments, as well as a few extras throughout the store. On top of that, the customer service earns five stars by itself! At some grocery stores the employees are not always pleasant, but all the employees at the Copperas Cove H-E-B are always happy and willing to help. It is truly a pleasure to shop here. Since it is so brand new, it is spick-and-span. Every time I have shopped at this location there are employees walking around spot-cleaning, and I think it is great! I used to dread going grocery shopping because of the sloppy, crowded stores. The Copperas Cove H-E-B has greatly improved my shopping experience. This store was adequate. It was clean, but the rear of the store had a sour smell about it, almost like sour seafood. The staff was very friendly and outgoing. There were many staff members about the store organizing stock on shelves to maintain an organized look. The produce was plentiful, healthy and fresh. However, the meat wasn't beautiful, it looked a tad old for my liking. There were coupons hung everywhere. Always matching the items specified in the coupon. Horrible experience. Passing through decided to stop here. Rena was rude to my family. Was very snarky about an item that was missing and seemed annoyed to process the yellow coupons they offer. She was annoyed to process coupons that her own store offer as if it was coming from her lousy paycheck. When I told her that she was being incredibly rude she had the nerve to turn it back on me and act like I was to blame. The sad part is that all of the teenagers that were there that were less than half her age were way more mature and polite than she was. You can't judge a book by its cover and we chose her because she apparently looked more mature than the rest of the employees. Manager on duty ignored my concern. Proceeded to snicker with her while ignoring my concern. Acted like they were teenagers in love, which is ironic because they look almost retirement age still bagging groceries and maybe each other. Once I got home I realized that she still charged us for an item that was supposed to be free after the coupon was applied which obviously she never scanned. Time for Rena to retire or get the medication she needs because this behavior was very odd. The manager should retire too or not work in service. He didn't even flinch with my negative feedback which means he is used to covering for her which is totally unacceptable treatment of repeat customers. read more
