The good: Open 24 hours I was led to believe H-E-B is a go-to place when needing groceries while visiting Texas. I have to say I was a bit surprised and disappointed with the cost of produce and almost everything in the store. The store did have the stuff I needed, and the coupons there make it so tempting to buy things you don't need. While the 24/7 hours might be convenient, especially for all the college students, it also makes the store pretty messy. Also, if you ever go late at night, they have nothing in the produce section. All in all, I'll shop while I'm visiting but am thankful that I found a farmers' market to balance out the cost of the produce department. read more

This place gets all five (5) stars from me. Although it is quite often a cluster-**** inside due to its frequent Southside patronage, it stays busy for good reason. -Convenience: I do not have much to add here. Great hours of operations. The main downside is how full the large parking lot is most of the time. -Availability: You will be hard-pressed to find another grocery store with such a diversity of great products and services. -Staff: The people who work here have been here for years. They stay for good reason. It is obvious they are taken good care of, and to that end, they show their loyalty in return. Could not be more helpful and friendly This is one of the OG HEB Plus stores. I am writing this review due to the repeated negligence we have experienced using this HEBs curbside service over the past year or so. We have been using it since our daughter was born, almost 4 years, without issue but lately they have consistently givin us wrong items without notifying us of a substitution, crushed chips, expired or soon to expire items, moldy bread, squished bread, cracked eggs, rotten fruit, and that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. They issue refunds for their mistakes, but we want the food we ordered! That's why we ordered it! There is an issue every single order these days. Its as if it has become their store policy to move items that should be thrown away over to curbside in order to speed up the shopping process. There needs to be better oversight to ensure products like this are not on the shelves and the shoppers need to choose items that they would choose for themselves! Unacceptable! read more

We went here several times while we were on Padre Island we went into Corpus Christi. the selection is huge. However, the prices did seem a bit higher and we found that we were able to get groceries at similar price on the island. Why did they change the Golden peak tea from 89 oz to 76 oz and raise the price to 4.24 from 3.89 that's less tea for more money. Why not just raise the price without reducing the ounces read more

Its huge , great selection of products , way too many people crashing into you , everybody going into the same aisles as you, some don't even move while browsing 1 product. Overall Its always busy , products are kept fresh and updated ! I even found stuff products from whole foods and traders joes here so pretty cool if your from out of town, traveling or need your hometown favorities ! TRASH! H-E-B used to be the best grocery store in Texas. It's not anymore. Post Covid / post 24 hour H-E-B is trash. Poor service, empty shelves, no parking, and the pharmacy is a 30-45 minute wait every time I go. Prices are no longer competitive. It's just miserable, like Walmart, nowadays. Did Charles Butt retire? Idk if his kids took it over and ran it into the ground or what. Anyway, they need to go back to 24 hours, or build more stores. I'm done. This is why I do 90% of my shopping on Amazon. As of today I'm switching my prescriptions to Amazon, as well. RIP H-E-B. read more

Could be much better. Their checkout service lately is ridiculous. While I stand there with my $25-80 worth of groceries, the checkout/baggers are carrying on their own private social hour. I'm barely greeted if at all. This after becoming more & more disillusioned over the last 6-8 weeks since now there are TEN items I can no longer purchase. Classic example: Frozen cookie dough: 2-3 rows of chocolate chip, 3-4 rows of sugar, 1-2 of "specialty" types. No more oatmeal raisin. Coconut creamer: now "discontinued" & "nobody knows why" -- rows of HUGE bottles of creamer and please let's not forget the rows & rows of STORE brands. Dr. Oeker pizza: Gone several months now. I used to buy 3-4 each trip! Now, gone. Replaced by the usual brands (stacks & stacks) and aha! MORE HEB brand pizzas (which by the way are mostly bread). Stuffed chicken breasts - the kind I bought (2-3 each trip) - GONE. With "Kiev" which is a buttery based "stuffing" that oozes out onto the baking pan during prep. Single slices of lemon meringue pie-- replaced by double-price tag macaroons and cake slices. This last trip during the week? None..Not one single Meal Simple $4 salad. But two rows of $6 sizes. Talked to a mgr. You know, lame "apology",no solution. If I could, I'd have been going to another store already -- but at least in South Texas, H-E-B has monopolized the market so that contenders cannot stay in town. So of course, they get away with whatever service they choose to dish out. I wish I could leave it, but that leaves overpriced natural food stores, or Wal-Mart who refuses to offer plastic bag alternatives. Without valid competition, H-E-B can do whatever the heck they want to & that leaves customers unhappy. But who cares? I've written Corportate office in San Antonio at least half dozen times. NO response. Nada. Nil. So, heck, H-E-B doesn't care. And they know what we know as consumers...since they muscled out their competitors, they can do what they want to. And they do. read more

Best Store Ever!! I do one large shopping trip per week and then find myself continuously going back to get more items. The Fresh fish area is unbelievable- I have had the Monk fish and also the North Atlantic Cod. both were great deals $$ and the fish was excellent. Produce department is always being replenished and fruits and vegetables are always fresh and crisp. I also switched to the HEB pharmacy - I don't have Prescription coverage and found that using HEB vs the big box drug stores is a no brainer - I have saved HUNDREDS of dollars switching over from Walgreens!! Pharmacy is a joke dropped off prescription they said 1 hour came back 2 hours later waited in line (drive thru). Then they asked me if I could pull around again so they could get the prescription ready?!??.. what the fuck why? It's been over 2 hours.. they gave no explanation so here I go waiting in the drive through line again for the 3rd time in a row in 1 day.. then to add insult to injury.. while I was in the pharmacy line outside (this is the same day same time) my wife was inside getting a few things and while she was in the self checkout. She got accused of not scanning a item it was a (Kool-Aid Liquid) ARE YOU SERIOUS ! ! ! your really protecting Kool-Aids Stock!.. I love HEB. I usually arrive at 2-3A.M. and hang out with the stockers while I shop. It's like I rented out the HEB to myself. This HEB has a large selection of toys, electronics, and animal food. It's always clean and you always see managers walking around checking on things. They just implemented an entire back isle to GLUTEN-FREE! They have probably now the largest selection of Gluten-Free items in Corpus Christi. They finally beat my local farmers market favorite Sprouts. Late at night they usually only have the fast-check out lines open with an assistant which works but sucks if your trying to have an entire basket going on. Have you tried HEB's sushi? I know what you're thinking (probably the same as I was), "how on Earth could you POSSIBLY want 'supermarket sushi' when there are SOOO many other, better, choices??" Well, the simple answer is, "because it's right there and it's pretty okay." Yes, I've had better, fresher, greater, fantastic sushi elsewhere, but the convenience of stopping in with your grocery list and scratching your head, wondering what to fix for dinner....hmmm....check this out! on-the-spot sushi! There are several different "varieties" to choose from: fresh sushimi, nori rolls, spring, and summer rolls, seaweed salad (which, by the way, I put right up there with my favorite sushi place), pot stickers even! I'm partial to the "Firecracker Roll" and the "Tempura Roll w/ Brown Rice." It really is quite good, VERY reasonably priced and ready to go. read more

H-E-B is one of the best stores that Texas has to offer to its residents. They are located everywhere from the country to the city. If you're looking for a place with some of the freshest produce and prices this is your place. It's always stocked and very clean with an abundance of workers, who are taking great strides with the current situation at hand by being friendly, making sure all the workers and customers that come in have masks and hand sanitizer is readily available. They always have great deals on their sushi which is hand rolled all day, a great selection of bakery, deli, and produce items and if it's like this HEB-Plus even clothing and beauty products. Sometimes if you are lucky you can get there when the tamale lady/man is selling fresh cooked hot tamales. Overall, if you are from Texas and know what I am talking about or if you are from out of state this is a must stop grocery store for all your needs. read more

This was our favorite H-E-B pharmacy up until a few months ago. They have hired a couple of young men who are very rude and obviously have taken the job solely because they are warm bodies. These are not career types and are only filling in. Even so, the pharmacy is still understaffed and each visit requires 30 minutes standing in line listening to the other customers complain about the disintegration of quality customer service. Yesterday we were told by both the two gentlemen the insulin syringes we buy every month by the case can only be bought by the individual package costing 8 times the case price. (We try to call ahead but the past few months their phone lines are never answered.) On this day after asking for a pharmacist, the one on duty told us she was tired of dealing with our dog and we should go to another pharmacy like Walgreens. She obviously had us mixed up with another customer since the syringes are for our cat and that we have a prescription on file. Still to take that attitude with any customer is not acceptable. H-E-B management should look into this problem before we all take their advice and move our prescriptions to Walgreens! There is a great staff member who works in the Pharmacy named Dylan. Great customer care and a sharp employee. The others need to learn from him. I hope this leads to improvements at H‑E‑B. L read more

Very poor decision by management to allow the placement of these two businesses directly in front of the two automatic doors to make the main entrance of a high volume store into an obstacle course! This is such a ridiculous place to put these kiosks. When only one was there, it was manageable. It was slightly irritating. Now there's an enormous red kiosk that makes entering and exiting impossible without having to actually stop and wait for an opening in the forced single file line. Do you really make a justifiable amount of money from these two off brand companies to warrant pissing off your loyal customers?! My family spends $1000 per month at this HEB and I am not happy about this. If you randomly surveyed your customers and asked what they thought about these kiosks, almost all of them would say something similar. Get rid of them. Don't put anything right in front of the doors! You're not desperate for the money, stop acting like it. I'm still giving 4 stars because I love almost everything else about this store. ... and I have hope you will at least relocate the red kiosk! read more

I not longer live in town but every time I come to visit I go to this H-E-B location. They have a decent selection of produce and the quality is usually good. I love their seafood market too. Parking can be a little crazy when they are busy but you usually can get in and get through check out in a decent amount of time. I've never utilized the Pharmacy here so my experience is solely based on shopping in the grocery area. read more

As the only chain grocer game in town, HEB has a lot to live up to. Like an only child carries the pressure to satisfy all his/her parents' expectations, HEB struggles to be all things to Corpus consumers. I appreciate the difficulty of this Herculean labor. Sometimes, it hits the mark exactly; other times it falls a little short, IMHO. Here are a few in the win column: - The store offers a broader range of food items not available in the local commissary or my beloved Sprouts. -HEB has AH-MAZ-ING fresh tortillas! Oh my, the corn and flour homemade tortillas make any filling sing! I've never tasted anything quite like them! - Robust dairy section features many options - if you're willing to look long enough, you can fill nearly your entire grocery list in one stop! ...and a couple less than awesome features: -this HEB defies logic in its layout! Frozen is spread throughout the whole store and like items are not in close proximity. Looking for 5 items can take forty-five minutes of poring through aisles and freezer cases. - HEB brand dominates every section and many popular brands I trust are not available in the megalopolis victualler's stock All in all, HEB is AOK in my book. Has pretty much everything you're looking for, and if you can't find it, there's always someone eager to help. If you are a foodie and living in the CC area, this place is your only saving grace because most of the restaurants are a joke. If you know how to cook, you'll find most of what you're looking for here. The balance you should be able to find at Moody's, the farmer's market, or the Asian market. If all else fails, shop online. I've always been happy with the service at the HEB plus and their meat selection is pretty good for a supermarket of its size. read more

I appreciate that HEB Plus carries a lot of items that other stores in the area don't. Unfortunately, you have to wade through a circus and a football field of aisles in order to find anything. This is my favorite grocery store. Yeah, it can be overwhelming. But the produce is fantastic, a broad selection. Lots of latin supplies. Banana leaves and fresh guava? Check. Mamey? Often. They added an agua fresca stand to the produce department lately. yay! I love to load up on a nice cantaloupe drink before doing grocery hunting. Yeah, might be too much for someone not from South Texas, but the borderline flea market feel works for me. Pluses: selection galore fresh produce one stop shopping from groceries to household items good customer service good prices Negatives: the huge selection can overwhelm the meat selection here is below average it is always crowded All that said, it's a great place to shop. The biggest trap is the overcrowding, which tends to happen when vacationers invade the town. I recommend not shopping here on Saturday or Sunday. You're going to have to deal with the tourists putting in provisions for the week. Sushi counter that makes fresh, though generic, rolls. Fresh cut fruit that can be a tad overpriced. Customer service offers everything from moneygrams to lottery tickets and fishing licenses. I've yet to encounter one grumpy sales associate anywhere in the store. read more

Pros: the flowers, the produce section is huge, large assortment of meats and products, Boars Head lunch meet, homemade tortillas. Small, but good, international section. Con: the donuts are hit and miss, needs more international products, the assortment of other stuff like Walmart is missing. There are no baggers and I think the check out person wants me to do it because of inadequate staffing. Spending a large amount of money should include grocery bagging. read more
