My go to grocery store that has absolutely everything I need. From soup to nuts and even a cooler to take your frozen foods home. Also if I need batteries or a cable for my phone I can find them here. My wife even bought a beautiful new pair of earrings to replace the ones she lost! While I'm there I can pick up my medicine at the pharmacy. I can also order ahead of time a pick up my groceries on the way home on hav them delivered if I'm ill or to busy to shop! read more

I'm writing this review regarding the treatment my 60-year-old mother received at the HEB located at 9900 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78230. The way she was treated by staff was embarrassing, dismissive, and unacceptable. On 12/18/25 around 7:00 PM, my mother attempted to purchase groceries using vouchers and an in-store coupon. She was assisted by Ashley (cashier) and Matthew (manager), who told her the vouchers could not be accepted because they would not scan and claimed HEB did not take them. My mother explained that she had successfully used the same vouchers at several other HEB locations and that they sometimes require manual entry. Despite this, both Ashley and Matthew refused to accept them and told her to scan the QR code to see which stores participate. After returning home, my mother scanned the QR code and did not see HEB listed as a non-participating store. Because she no longer had a ride and still needed groceries, she walked back to the store (about 30 minutes each way) around 8:00 PM. While a different cashier was ringing up her items, Ashley approached, removed my mother's groceries from the conveyor belt, and said, "I already told you we don't take your coupons." My mother was publicly embarrassed and left the store empty-handed, walking all the way home again. My mother later called the store and spoke with Matthew, explaining what happened. He stated he had "taken a picture of the vouchers to show corporate," but no resolution or empathy was offered. The next evening, 12/19/25 around 8:45 PM, my mother returned to the same HEB to try again, thinking the in-store coupon may have been the issue. Ashley was again at the register, and Matthew approached, stating they had just scanned the QR code and that HEB was listed as not accepting the vouchers. Family members tried to explain that the vouchers had already been used successfully at other HEB locations, but Ashley and Matthew again refused to accept them. Immediately after leaving, my family went to a different HEB location, where my mother was able to purchase groceries using the exact same vouchers with no issues. Afterward, a follow-up call was made to Matthew for clarification. He stated they had the right to refuse service because it is private property and claimed "upper management" told him HEB doesn't accept the vouchers, but refused to provide a name or further explanation. This situation could have been handled with professionalism, respect, and basic customer service. Instead, a 60-year-old woman was embarrassed publicly, had her groceries removed from the belt, and was made to walk back and forth unnecessarily -- all while being given conflicting and incorrect information. I strongly recommend additional training for staff and management at this location, particularly regarding voucher acceptance and respectful customer interaction. read more

The store is great but the parking lot is atrocious. There is no clear path for people to walk so they are just all over the place and you are constantly just waiting for them to get out of the way. There is no room to walk behind the parked cars without being in the way of moving cars. And the asphalt is so bumpy that the bottom of cart items will bounce right off to the ground. This rating is strictly for my experience today with the bakery. Most of the time my experiences here have been good . Custom ordered a cake for my daughter's 18th birthday last week to be ready for today. My daughter requested a heart shaped cake with the Spider-Man image from their display book , red velvet and cream cheese frosting. Got a call at 7am saying they didn't have red velvet cake but everything else was fine. Went to pick it up and the cake had no image but instead had added roses which were never requested. The order form clearly stated the image number for the Spider-Man image was she wanted. They gave us a discount for the cake which is why I gave 3 stars, but now we have to travel store to store to try and fix it to what she actually wanted and DIY it . read more

Trying to return stuff. Was an act of Congress. I always buy from different HEBs and had no problem returning items at different HEBs except this one. Daniel the MIC initially wanted my ID to process the return mind you I had the receipts for the items I was returning. Two of them were store brands. At first I was giving the third degree because I purchased them "so long ago". Mind you I had until September 30th to return these items as it says so on the receipt. So what I purchased them over at Basse which doesn't have a return desk counter by the way. If products must be returned at the same store then post a sign up for crying out loud. Speaking of signage, how come HEBs don't have the required No Smoking No Vaping This Area signage at their entrances as required per City Ordinance? I guess I should be making a 311 call over that. I love this store and its employees!! I always find what I want, whether shopping in the store or using curbside pickup or delivery. Today, Christmas Eve, at 7:00 am in the rain and chill I went to pick up my groceries from curbside. I was in and out in under 5 minutes!!! This H‑E‑B is very easy to get to and plenty of parking. It looks tight but anywhere you park is a close walk. It is very convenient since it is right off the hwy. They have everything that a big box HEB has. You can see everyone in their work clothes stopping in after work to pick up thing for the house. What I like most is their seafood dept. they have a good amount of fresh and previously frozen seafood on hand. They also have a meat cutting area but they cut and package all meat. The customer service is great. The register experience is also very fast or you can also check out your own groceries. Stop by if you need something quick. read more

Ugh! Went in this morning for balloons and a cake. How hard is it to make a bouquet of balloons. Before I even left the store 2 popped. I went back, they got replaced. Went back to pay and one balloon got away. So I went back and got it replaced. They replaced it with the wrong color. I had enough so I finally make it out the store. Get to my car, 2 balloons fly away. I was already late so I just took the loss. I get to work, another balloon flys away. I used this HEB for a curbside pickup order, although this is not my usual HEB. The quality of the service is consistent with my usual HEB. Claudia was great, getting everything on my order, and even going back into the store to get a substitution for a product they didn't have in stock. Now that is great customer service! She was was very friendly, and a pleasure to deal with. I ordered a couple of Chef Prepared Meals, and they were delicious. Parking at this HEB is a nightmare, so I took off a star for that. I love HEB, but not this one. Be warned if using this one for delivery. On two separate deliveries the ground beef delivered was past the use by date. Also, the ribeyes are cut strangely. I have stopped using delivery and now use curbside at the location that originally delivered to my area. Also, they seldom have everything on my list, and what they do have has a higher substitute rate than the store that used to deliver. So very disappointed I my delivery experience with them on more than one occasion. Of course they will replace the expired items, but it shouldn't happen more than once. read more

My husband and I are loyal HEB shoppers. We get our prescriptions filled, stock up on groceries and even use the gas station to fill up. My experience this past Saturday was disappointing. We were planning our son's 15th birthday party, so I decided to order a cake. I'm a well organized person, so it was ordered two weeks prior. I had a bakery employee helping me with my choices and answering my questions which was accommodating. When I went to pick up my cake it was ready to go. When I peeked at the cake I noticed that it looked exactly how I ordered it, but something was missing. The round cake had a strip of decoration that was suppose to go around the cake, with a confetti look. Well to my surprise the cake was missing about a 5 inch piece of the top leaving the back part empty and visually awkward. I was not pleased with how it looked so head back to the bakery to find out what happened. A lady bakery employee apologized and stated that since it was a larger size cake the confetti strip doesn't go around all the way and that if I wanted to cover the empty spot it would cost $8.00. I was shocked and said that when I ordered the cake it didn't state an additional charge for the size of cake I ordered and the employee getting my information the day I ordered the cake didn't state that the confetti strip didn't complete cover the circumference of the cake. The employee then stated that they have employees that are not trained and that they have a lot of new employees. I think as a large company HEB should have procedures in place to ensure that customer purchases are fulfilled regardless of the employee experience. The employee the offered to add sprinkles to the missing spot, which I agreed to even though it didn't match. Overall this experience was shocking and disappointing. I won't be ordering cakes from this location and this experience put a damper on my day. Oh and I noticed on my receipt I got charged for a Chocolate fudge cake and not a white buttercream cake, so I might have been charged correctly. Wow! HEB really got me this time. read more

This HEB is okay, but nothing stellar. It's a bit difficult to navigate and find some basic items you need, but it gets the job done in a pinch, as per usual with any HEB. Every time I visit I am usually unable to find one or two things on my grocery list, causing me to either forgo it or stop by an HEB whose layout I'm more familiar with. San Antonio natives can really take HEB for granted. I guess they have been so good for so long that we stopped noticing the superior quality in service. I made a quick stop to get some ice cream and decided to stop by the deli. Debra got my attention with her attentive gaze waiting to see if I wanted something. I asked her about the cheeses, she was knowledgeable about the deli products (which had the least sodium, which was the most marbled, etc...). When I couldn't make a decision she offered a sample. And she was right, I liked it and bought a pound. Then I told her I wanted some summer sausage, but only beef. She let me know that what she had in the case was a pork/beef combination but if I turned around, on the display table behind me was Wisconsin beef summer sausage that she would gladly slice for me. She was great and so were the other employees in the deli at this HEB! When I was at the self service check out the employee attending to this area was very helpful and kept things moving. Without needing to ask, she took my basket out of my way and was very polite about it. To have the experience I had today really speaks to the management ar this store. I have been using "Home Delivery" from HEB in San Angelo almost since they started providing it. I have had zero(0) complaints. There have been little minor differences that are hard to explain, but I think that when HEB replaced Shipt with Favor (they bought it out) there has been an improvement in the home delivery service. I have always found an appointment for delivery that fit my availability. Making a delivery appointment couldn't be much easier when done online. I make do ALL of my shopping needs through online service. It is fast, product search is very fast, adding to your order is simple and easy to understand. It's a great feature that HEB added. The price for delivery is very reasonable. $5.00 for a shopper to pick your order. $5.00 for delivery service. You add what ever tip you would like for your deliverer. COULDN'T BE ANY BETTER. I did my grocery shopping for the week last Thursday at this store. I went to the Deli for some fresh cut cheese and ham. Ordered Yellow American Cheese and Ham. I got it home and noticed the cheese had dark reddish-orange streaks from the slicer and bits and pieces in the bag. It was obvious to me that the young lady had used a dirty slicing machine. I tried the ham and it had an odd taste to it. The same problem was happening with this product too. I was really disgusted that they would do this to a customer. I usually shop at this H‑E‑B since COVID I do my best to limit my shopping to 1-2x a month. Recently I've had to shop more often due to birthdays and forgetting some items I could not wait for. I've made use of the Curbside Pick up. These guys are amazing! When I arrive I (reverse) park in the designated parking spaces, text my parking number and within minutes they are loading my trunk with my order. Simple, quick and easy, I'm on my way home. No contact. No need to get off my vehicle. TIP: if there are spaces available in front of the Curbside P/U doors, reverse park. If they don't have to walk around your car and into the parking lot they can immediately place your items in the trunk. Quickly getting you out of there and to next person. It also helps to be present and not staring at your phone. Happy shopping! read more

This HEB is pretty much useless. I came here twice but left empty handed for both trips. The first time, I came on a Saturday afternoon. Bad idea! The store was super crowded and only had one bad looking Chinese napa cabbage. I was so frustrated that I left immediately and went to the Alon market HEB. Guess what, they had more than 10 Chinese napa cabbages for me to choose from. The second time, I came for some fresh strawberry. Bad idea! The strawberries they had were not fresh at all AND there were lots of fruit flies on the berries!!! Ewww!!! I was frustrated and left then went to the Alon market HEB again. Meh! It's good that this place is open 24 hours a day. It's well lit, and easy to access from I-10. They sell gas on premises, which is usually quite competitive versus the other places across the highway. They have the self-checkout registers, and a cool sample machine near the doorway that gives you small bottles of shampoo and such for a buck. The produce is generally lacking. So is their pre-made sandwiches and snacks and such. They've got a pretty good sized meat area, and a bakery in store. There's a large 'ethnic' food section, which is fun to look through. I'm just never amazed by this place. The parking lot in on a hill, and I often wonder about shopping carts flying into traffic. You gotta watch it! read more

Came by here yesterday to grab a quick lunch so I could go eat it in the park. Luckily I found a park to eat at in the King William District before, during and after it rained. I was disappointed there was no bulk isle but.... I'm spoiled by that as a resident of Austin. Unless they did have it and I missed it, which means HEB is missing out on consumers dollars there. I was super excited by their sushi selection FOund sushi that had no rice in it. It was a cucumber with fake crab and shrimp. It looked so great, but so did the tuna and avocado roll for $5.99. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The key to eating sushi from HEB is to let it get closer to room temp = especially if you take it home and put it in the fridge, You can't just take it out and start eating. I come here to purchase food. I do so on the daily. It's open late, on my way, and a clean, well stocked store (including some wonderful things like halal meats). If it were not on my way, I would probably not stop here, the location makes this the store for me. Shopping at night, past 10pm, is always nice becuase there are not most people in the way and you can even find parking reasonably close. The deals are the same as the other stores, and the selection is not as large as Alon Market or other, larger HEB's. But I like the size of this one more, as it means I will spend less on things that I probably do not need. Good place for food, flowers, gas (check prices), and general household products. I shop at this HEB when I need to pop in and out for something. I'm not used to it and don't know the organization that well, so only if I need ONE thing will I go in there. Otherwise, my 30 minute grocery shopping turns into a two hour unnecessary waltz around the store trying to find everything I need. This store is huge to begin with. Probably the biggest H-E-B in the area (other than obviously most HEB Plus stores). Usually someone always standing near the entrance greeting which is unusual of H-E-B's. Employees are mostly nice, I've never had a bad situation with anyone. I actually recently went there to buy my mom a plant and on my way out, tripped and the plant broke - I took it back in right after I bought it and they replaced it for free, no hassles whatsoever. Parking can be somewhat of a nightmare and this location can be horrible if you go around morning or afternoon peak-times because of the people driving into the Medical Center off Wurzbach. Thankfully, they have a secured light over next to the gas station, which makes it easier for you to get out of. But keep that in mind! read more

It seems pointless to leave a bad review about an HEB but if I can stop just one person from visiting this particular location then this review was worth it. I just moved to the area and live between this location and the I10 and DeZavala location, only this one is on the way home from work. This has been my third and last visit here. The produce section is TERRIBLE. I purchased some oranges and strawberries on Monday May 22nd. It is now Thursday May 25th and my strawberries are molded and my oranges are dried out. I should have known better as the selection was weak to begin with. This also happened when I purchased produce a couple weeks ago. On my second visit I purchased cottage cheese that I realized expired the day before only when I was already home. (Check your dates people!) They have 10 lanes open for self check out, 10 lanes open for 15 and under items, but if you have an actual basket full of groceries they have two lanes open with long lines. Also parking sucks. This place is a joke. It feels dirty, not sure why but it feels like the floors havent been cleaned in a while. The meat department is horrid. They sell such thin cuts of meat, finding something half way decent to buy is hard, and even when you do it is often lopsided. Its like they dont even care. The Managers always seem to be just standing around talking. This H-E-B used to be our favorite. But it has definitely changed. Even trying to walk out the front door in front of checkouts is ridiculously difficult with everyone, including staff, walking in front of you instead of actually helping you. I have been shopping at this supermarket for the past forty years, and things have improved greatly here since this store had very major renovation about twenty years ago! My only real complaint is the very, very horribly heavy traffic during the morning and evening rush hours on the weekdays! I try my best to avoid it! Like shopping just about anywhere else, if you do your shopping at times when foot traffic is low, you always get your shopping done quickly and get checked out fast. This is one of two HEB stores that are easiest for me to get to since I use public transit. This H-E-B is convenient, especially if you work near medical center. This isn't one of the more luxurious stores but you are able to get the majority of what you want. Don't expect to find to many organic products or Central Market type products. This store is 24/7 so that is also something that makes this store very convenient. read more

I had to stop at this location to pick up two quick items on the way to an event. All the 10 items or less cashiers had lines. I saw a regular check out station that was already finishing their transaction with no line. While walking over to the check out station, the "front end heb person/guider/walker (not sure what her position is)" her name is "Anastasia", stood in front of the station holding out her hands guiding calling someone else over to get in line, blocking me from getting in line. She told me I'm supposed to go to the 10 items or less line. I told her, "They can still check me out." She preceded to tell me "You only have 1 item, they have a basket of items, you have to get in the 10 items or less line." Instead trying explain to her that there is no rule stating I have to get in a 10 items or less line, and the regular check out lines are still a first come first serve option for customers, I had no time to debate someone that had obvious control issues. I went to the 10 items or less line and decided to warn others, hopefully her management checks this some day or hopefully Anastasia will check this herself. read more
