HEB is very dishonest in their pricing. I was picking up hamburger and noticed they had some packages priced $1.70 more a lb than others which were the exact same hamburger. So I brought to the attention of the guy in meat dept and the excuse given was ridiculous. Their excuse was they had different codes. It is the exact same hamburger 80/20. This review is in reference to the cooked roasted chickens of different flavors. The last two roasted chickens we have purchased were very overcooked and dry, almost to the point of being inedible. Whoever is responsible for making these chickens apparently can't cook. You should get someone else to prepare them. I will roast my own chickens from now on. read more

For first time I had the worst experience in an heb. I had put in my order for a certain time 9-9:30pm that was the only option it gave me to be the lastest. Well they were calling me since 6pm to go pick it up. Obviously I put it for later because that's the time I can go. I had a rough day (I am very sick at the moment with an illness and just had surgery for it). Then my husband I had to take him twice to urgent care because he has a really bad sinus infection. Anyways I was running around all day my personal appointments then my husband so I made it to heb right at 9:28 perfect because I had two minutes left till 9:30. Well there was two workers. A girl and a guy name Jon. They said it's closed but they were there and I had made it before 9:30. So I went inside I had a man name Robert try to help me I told him straight up what happened he was even surprised if the workers were there why didn't they just gave me my items. He called Jon and then he came and was so rude and was just not good customer service. I get it if he couldn't open it but don't give me attitude. I even told him I made it on time then change the time because I clearly had two minutes before 9:30. Anyways he just walked away didn't say anything so my husband called to complain because I was having a rough day and just came home and cried. My biggest issue I get it you can't get me the food but but nice about it and change your times or tell your customer your policies before you order. I seriously had two minutes left. Anyways I miss my old heb. This one I went to because I just move to the area but I can already tell the difference in customer service. read more

It has been more than 7 years since I walked into a HEB Plus. My first impression was there's is way too much stuff in here. The parking lot was full and the place was full of people. While I found something's to be fairly price, most of the thinks I looked at were more expensive than at Walmart. The place clean and the isles were well organized, but there was no room to walk by in many areas, specially closed by the cheese area. I did found fresh tamales (not as good as I was expecting), fresh squeezed orange juice (my favorite), fresh French bread and roasted chicken (be very careful not to touch the top of the inside where the chicken is) that is hot and burned a blister in my hand when I went to grab the chicken on the back. My wife and I were in San Antonio for a long weekend and this H.E.B was right across the street from our hotel. There are not a lot of grocery stores in downtown San Antonio, so it was nice to have this so close. They did have some great pre-packaged salads I would have for breakfast and an extensive beer case. Which was nice. My wife got some yogurt for breakfast and the people were nice. It was pretty small for a grocery store, but it was nice to have a real grocery store right near downtown. read more

I'm so disappointed. The quality of the food made at this HEB has gone downhill significantly. Today I ordered two turkey and cranberry salads at a little over $9.00 each. They were about 40% mayonnaise. I also ordered a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. I got a bowl of noodles with three meatballs and a tablespoon of sauce. I'm not sure if I'll eat it or just throw it out. I have previously ordered a bowl of CUT watermelon. It's more expensive than getting a half watermelon that needs to be cut. I got home and it was a bowl with three LARGE chunks of watermelon. I ended up having to cut it myself anyway. I realize that it's curbside so you don't know what you're getting until you get home; so they assume nobody's going to go all the way back to the store. The HEB name used to mean something. I paid for delivery charge to have groceries delivered because I have the Flu. Items delivered but were damaged and have mold growing on them. Both groups of bananas were damaged and squished, mandarin oranges were not only damaged but had white and green mold growing on them, and both loafs of bread looked like someone played football with them. I contacted the store immediately after delivery and informed them of the issues. Their solution was to re-deliver tomorrow. I asked about being refunded the delivery charge and he totally dismissed my request. This is not the first time this has happened, it's an inconvenience! I have given this H‑E‑B location several opportunities to get their quality control in check but apparently they cannot. They have now lost me as a customer. read more

As a 5th Gen Texan, I shopped at HEB my entire life. Unfortunantly, it's gone down hill. The Schertz beef section is pricy and has no selection... The quality is terrible. All they want you to do is spend top dollar at the glass counter. Folks, this is Texas. There are cows in a field across from this HEB. Chicken? Same... I hate to say it (really) but we go to Walmart. It's the little things like K-cup coffee's... no selection but the HEB brand. Again, selections are better at Walmart (BRC?). Rescently, less and less lanes are open... The want me to do all the work (LOL). The HEB curbside/delivery shopping people block you everywhere, with a bit of attitude, too. I' guessing, HEB is taking Texans granted... They own the market, and they know it. What HEB needs is more compition. They ran Albertsons, Piggly-Wiggle, Krogers out of town, then raised prices. Now, they own us... The HEB in Cibolo is a bit better but this is a corperate problem, no dought. read more

The first H.E.B I've encountered with a terrible fresh produce section. EVERYTIME I purchase fruits and vegetables here, they go bad instantly. Are they not putting them out soon enough? It's literally the bottom of the barrel. The image I've attached is generous. Had I not been in a rush and it been busy I would have snapped more, but you can tell if you zoom in a bit the quality of freshness with these jalapeños is questionable. I literally came for fresh tomatoes and jalapeños and left without any. I had to go to Walmart for produce and I NEVER buy produce from Walmart. How is Walmart produce fresher, when H‑E‑B is BASED IN SAN ANTONIO? I just feel the Schertz location should have some of the best produce, especially because of how busy it is and how many people it services, but it's the opposite. Additionally, I always have to bag my own groceries here. Is that how they do things now, or do they have baggers to help? I really enjoy shopping at my Heb. This is only other place I shop outside of Costco. It's neat and clean when I shop. The produce is fresh and looks good most of the time. However I loathe going to the deli to get sliced meat. Currently there is six to seven people working behind the counter but only 2 where helping customers. This is the case every time I come in the early afternoon. Not until there is 5 or 6 other people waiting does anyone else break from there task of prepping etc. to assist the counter. If they could fix this problem I would enjoy my shopping experience much better. read more

During our last Thanksgiving preparatory visit, Adam in the meat market provided exceptional service. The largest Riverside turkey on the floor weighed 17 pounds. Adam was kind enough to search the freezers only to return to indicate only smaller turkeys were in the back. I asked if another truck delivery was expected and he replied with "I can check our truck, come with me". After about 7-10 minutes of waiting, Adam returned with a 24.55 pound turkey that will highlight my family's celebratory Thanksgiving lunch. Cheers to Adam and his efforts!! read more

Delivery driver was great. Cakes arrives intact. My issue is with the expectation vs reality exp. The cake was all wrong. Was supposed to be vanilla cake with vanilla icing. the icing was wrong colors, missing its skirt with a crumbling see thru base layer. Not happy. I had ordered a second cake and it had issues as well with the fact that it was partially frozen in the middle and that whoever did the middle icing layers on it didn't actually fill it all the way. so there were huge gaps of air and this caused the cake to fall apart when we went to cut it and remove a slice. read more

Ok, I am a die hard Texan and will back HEB for my life. This is a great HEB. Every department has good selection. The produce is fresh, the seafood is fresh, the meat products are the same. A GREAT beer and wine isle. Love the Kodi products. The deli is fast and the workers are friendly and helpful. There are often lots of free samples available and a tamale person wandering the store to sell her fresh tamales. Where this store falls short of five stars is that they don't handle their busy seasons as well as they can. The managers have a bit of a complex. They are visible, friendly to customers, but I've heard them blow off employee concerns and suggestions too regularly. "Open more 15 or less item lines" was a good idea one employee suggested that a manager too readily blew off. . When it's busy, it's BUSY. So if you're not a fan of crowds, not the place for you. Try Arlan's for quick items. read more

This isn't just any ol' HEB, this is a Plus! That means that this place is gigantic! They've got it all- I stopped by to grab a kiddie pool for only $6, and got lured into buying all kinds of other stuff. They have a summer section in the seasonal area, with a better selection of chanclas and flip-flops than most sporting goods stores! Their cooler selection of Kodi Coolers beats Yeti every single time. They've got off-road coolers that you need in your life. The beer selection here is on point! This place has it broken out between the mass-produced beers, local beers, and hard seltzers all sorted by style. Yum! Since the whole pandemic going on, they've shut down the Cooking Connection, which is kind of a bummer. It used to be a part where they'd yell through a microphone while cooking up delicious bites to give you ideas about what to cook for dinner. The digital marketing at these stores is amazing- they have a new app that makes things easy! There's all kinds of deals in there. Check it out! We we're in the baby area picking up baby food for my grandson. The woman employee in the blue shirt acted very angry at us for blocking the area she wanted to get product from. She was forcing her way in front of us. So we gave up looking and went to Walmart. These employees here are so rude. This is a huge super HEB and if they don't carry it you don't need it. Getting in and out of the parking lot is a pain but even when they are busy this huge venue just absorbs the crowds. I was disappointed with their pasta and tomato sauce options (compared to their Austin stores) but they have everything else under the sun. As a bonus, there is a small bar attached to this HEB that serves very reasonably priced strong drinks. So you can get your drank on then do some shopping, win-win. read more

This is the only HEB I will shop at and I have 3 that I can go to. As you know they are wonderful and this one is a PLUS. The parking lot is easier to maneuver than most and the set-up inside is great. I have asked the staff for items that are not out and they have walked to the back and brought more out with no problems. I am a early in and out so I can't talk about the evening rush. I want to give a shout out to Roger and Trevor for helping me today. I needed vanilla soy milk which is at the very bottom and the containers were so far back I would have had to get on my hands and knees to reach them. I injured my knee and could not get to them. I asked Roger if there was anyone that could help me and he immediately got Trevor to push the containers forward and Roger handed them to me. These two employees displayed great customer service. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT 2 months ago I saw people with no masks in the store as employees walked past them without addressing it. 3 weeks ago I saw an elderly couple point out the same issue to an employee and the employee made a quick comment and walked away. I walked past the elderly couple and I said, terrible how some customers aren't considerate towards other shoppers. The elderly man told me that the employee said, "that's not the law." Yesterday, as I was wiping off my cart prior to entering. A couple walked in with masks on thier necks, not covering face, and the H-E-B Security employee did nothing. I told an employee working in the dairy department and he said, "they (HEB) dont care." For 12yrs I've noticed how this HEB in Schertz never addresses real issues brought to thier attention. It was telling that EMS had pulled up just as I arrived, probably to collect the most recent customer to succumb to this store's apathy. Cosmetically, it's a nice store, but, as I have found to be the case with the Plus store in Kyle, it has no soul or character. I think at some point, these stores get too big and lose their sense of HEB identity and community. For some inexplicable reason, the Plus stores seem to always be reduced to vast wastelands of mass-merchandise serviced by uncaring and disinterested staff who can't be bothered to be customer-friendly (i.e. Walmart). The abysmal service I received at their pharmacy desk early one Saturday morning is a great case-in-point. Staff minimally complied with my simple request, without stating why they won't fully comply--one that another location honored just two days before. The pharmacist-on-duty when I was there early Saturday morning (an older blonde female) was perfectly content to shelter in place behind her pharmacy helm so as not to interact with customers. Instead she let the technicians deliver the puzzling verdict to the customer. [Op. Ed. I'm not sure why one becomes a pharmacist if it's not to help people. Cranky has no place in healthcare.] The pharmacy staff's blasé attitude extends to other departments. This isn't a matter of a staff shortage, mind you, since staff members can be all around you stocking, yet still fail to offer help. I finally found one staff member stocking snacks across from the frozen food section who broke a smile in response to mine--but no offer of assistance. Ultimately, the finger has to point at impoverished unit management for not motivating the staff to excel. Sadly, the attitude of the staff is mirrored in the attitude of the customers. Of the dozens I saw, only one who appeared cheerful. To put it bluntly, I've seen zombies with more zest for life. So I concluded this must just be an unhappy area of metropolitan San Antonio, likely inhabited by nouveau riche in debt up to their eyeballs. Either that, or hayseeds who never have recovered from losing their triple-tin-shed "flagship" Garden Ridge store across the highway. Otherwise, come here to load up your groceries, and carry on.
