First Day Impressions We were excited that a supermarket was going to opening so close to home so we went there on opening day. We saw that the parking lot was full so we made like a bakery truck and hauled our buns out of there. I like a lot of people. But a crowd that big maneuvering shopping carts through the narrow isles of a supermarket is not something that I find enjoyable. So we came back at 7:00 p.m. It was raining, but that didn't scare away many people as it was still packed in there. But I digress. It has the same layout as the former Giant. The biggest differences were the huge seafood section and a section where you can buy prepared Korean dishes on the spot. They even have some tables and chairs so you can eat right there. We wished we hadn't already eaten. This was opening day. It was packed inside. People were taking their time checking the place out as they shopped. It's a Korean place, and when I say that it's a Korean place I mean that it is a Korean place. They have a lot of Korean products, and some of the packages I didn't see any English. They had a lot of stations where people were cooking marinated chicken or dumplings. One station had a cute girl giving samples of these soft drinks. There were three different stations cooking different types of dumplings. So it was helpful that one could try the food. You have the produce section, and the produce section was a good size. All the items were pretty fresh too, but it's gotta be super fresh on opening day. They have a larger than average, much larger than average, seafood section. They had on ice all kinds of fish from wild caught red snapper to farm raised salmon, tilapia of course, grouper, etc. They have tanks with live lobsters, live crabs I think they were snow crabs, live octopus and even live flounder. We got some rainbow trout at $5.99/lb which is ok. Carmen and Hugo are coming over tomorrow, and Carmen is one of the best cooks north of the Rio Grande so I've got that to look forward too. But they also had big bins of shrimp and using these paddles you could scoop up what shrimp you want, and a dude was sitting there with a scale ready to weigh it and slap a price tag on it. We kind of cruised through the meat section and the frozen food section. I could see from a distance a brick wall with "Wine and Beer" written on it. Needless to say I eventually made my way to that area, but all they had were sodas. I was very disappointed. No beer. All the check-outs were operating so we got through the check-out process lickety split despite the huge crowd of shoppers in there. I was pleased to see one of my former English students bagging groceries. She is from Peru, and she is very pretty. I thought I'd never see her again so I was happy to see her. She said her husband works there too, but we didn't see him. I hope to run into them again. All in all, the place made a good first impression read more

A nice addition to the Manassas area, which used to only have Global (which I find dirty). The food court area is the highlight, since they serve Korean and Korean-Chinese food for cheap, plus you get unlimited Banchan with it, provided that you dine in. As for the groceries, I feel like this branch has less Asian options compared to the ones in Centreville and Fairfax. Also, be sure to check before getting something. We saw an expired product in the shelf and one of the things we recently purchased had molds in it once we opened it. read more

Great selection of Asian food - I wish they had more Kimchi variety, but I'm still happy with the choices. Good choice of dried seaweed snacks - my kids go through these instantly! Nice fresh seafood and meat. The produce is plentiful and inexpensive. My favorite is the Korean and sushi food court. The sushi, (primarily rolls), is fresh and made on site - and is very inexpensive! The food selection is incredible and comes with banchan, (various kimchi, pickled veggies, etc), if you're eating in the restaurant. Everything is delicious and inexpensive! Try the eel with vegetables or - my favorite - Spicy Ramen soup. One star off for poor customer service. Employees are pretty unfriendly, but the food is terrific! read more

This is one of the closer grocery stores to my house. They closed the Giant that was located here and put in the H Mart. I finally got a chance to stop in and see what they had going on. I was pretty impressed. Let's start with the fact that this again based supermarket doesn't have the certain fishy aroma that some others do. The seafood is in open containers on ice in the back, but when I walked in, I didn't immediately get knocked down with the fish smell. The produce is out of this world. Super cheap pricing compared to the local competition. The selection can't be beat. They had every fruit and veggie I was looking for, plus a whole lot more I didn't even know I needed. I wondered the aisles filling my cart with random things. Some of which I know, some - well... I am still debating on that. My favorite random find, was Sweet Corn Ice Cream. It sounds crazy, which is why I bought it, and it is fantabulous. They have a hot foods section. I was SUPER excited about it, but it closed at 7:30pm. I got there at 7:50pm. Next time! The staff was great. They pulled my cart out for me. Every time I passed someone in the store they asked if I needed any help. I really appreciate customer service like that. I'll be back! read more

I really want to like this supermarket but this is the third time we've had spoiled food. The first instance was chicken breasts that made us sick. Thought maybe it was a fluke so we tried again. Then we had spoiled wine and 6 month expired enchilada sauce. We like to get our Thai Chili peppers here but I am not going back without checking expiration dates. read more

A great ethnic grocery store. My favorite part is the samples it's like ethnic Costco. They have all kinds of Asian and Hispanic food. They also offer fish to make sushi with which is great including uni, salmon and tuna. This makes for a cheaper alternative to going to a sushi bar. They also have a Korean restaurant inside which is very good. The bakery section is cheap and delicious. I would definitely recommend, it's a better smelling version of global foods. read more

This is for the food court inside Hmart. I used to like to eat there because of the fair prices of the dishes. Rice, soup, dishes....and all u can eat kimchi. I used to buy lots of carryout there too, but no more now......Since it was changed about a month ago. I never go back there. Their prices of the food increase a lot. For example, a bulgogi from $7.99, now is $10.99. Come on...if your price is $10.99, why I have to eat over there in the corner of the market. Use your brain, owner. Now I can see there is less and less customers eating there. Thanks god! read more

New grocery store in town. This location is similar to other H Mart locations like the one in Centreville. The produce, seafood, and meat sections are all excellent and reasonably priced. You can also pick up some prepared foods like sushi here. Check out lines can be fairly long, probably because this place is so new everybody wants to check it out. Easily beats other grocery stores in Manassas. read more

The manager Clara in the customer service desk in my experience was really unhelpful and her attitude to be negative. Please deal with the other Korean female manager there who seems less rude. Also, the checkout representative a Korean male named "Yoon" I found to be very unhelpful as well. I guess you just can't expect good customer service in this market. I hope that they are properly trained to deal with customers in a positive way and keep in standard with the customer levels expected in the United States. read more

This is now mine and my family's favorite store. Not only bc of the great prices and convenient schedule but also bc they variety of produce products. Mr. Andy is part of the staff and he is SUPER HELPFUL AND NICE. I love pho and i wanted to make some so i asked him and he went around the store showing me every product that i need it, his preferences and what it was for. This review is strictly for the restaurant. The Centerville and Fairfax H-Mart dining areas both have a free water dispenser. I was told to walk across the store and use the metal fountain by the toilets if I wanted free water at the Manassas facility. Greed. read more

H mart is the international food market chain that has moved into the space at Manassas Junction, where the Giant Food used to be. They are a welcome addition to the retail corridor on Liberia Avenue. Prices on non perishables seem fairly high, but they have quite a lot of international foods that the standard chains won't sell. The real draw for this store is around the perimeter of the store. They have a great produce department that often leaves me scratching my head, wondering how they can sell it so cheaply. I also feel the same about their seafood department. Hands-down, it is the best place to get seafood in Prince William County. Even when you walk to the back of the store, you don't smell old seafood. The selection of fresh and frozen seafood is ginormous! The meat selection is pretty good, and they have some really good specials. They also sell pork bellies. Any place that sells pork bellies is worth checking out! They have a Hispanic bakery which is very good, and a Korean hot food and sushi bar. Again, very good. As some other yelpers have noted, the store is very clean, well laid out, with good customer service. read more

So happy I don't have to drive all the way to Fairfax for my kind of fresh veggies, meats and seafood. I was there on a Sunday (the inauguration). They had a lot of product sampling going on, which was great because I would never have bought those products not knowing what they're like. They have a food court place where I was able to buy crispy fried sea bass - that was awesome! Can't wait to go back and try their other food offerings. They were still missing some of the stuff I usually go to Lotte for. Hopefully, they'll have it on stock on my next visit. read more

This place is awesome! This used to be a Giant store, but now it's an HMart! (not size but the grocery company) My favorite part about this place is the food court, it closes at around 7:30 so get there sooner. (we learned the hard way) The food prices are unbelievably inexpensive, 5.99 for a soondubu? Sign me up! They also give you a plate for their side dish bar (kimchi, soybean sprouts, pickled radish, belt fish, etc) which has unlimited refills as far as I know. Next to the food court is the bakery section, a plentiful selection of various breads and cakes. They also sell freshly baked cakes and coffee upon request at the counter. The grocery selection is diverse as well, there is Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Korean, and more global brands. There are fresh fruits and vegetables along with a seafood section and a meat section. read more

This place has great food and deals. However, the customer service is horrendous!!! Me and my husband have had multiple problems in the store regarding sale items, sales being posted and then them trying to not honor them. For example, our daughters soy milk was on sale from 3.99 to 1.99 for the half-gallon. We grabbed 6 of the 1/2 gallons and proceeded to the checkout when they did not ring up correctly we were confronted by management and they said it was wrong and we would have to pay full price very rudely! this was not going to fly since it had happened previously with some juice that we just let go. once my husband brought the manager to the milk isle and showed him where it was posted, the manager said the dates were wrong. my husband showed him that they were NOT wrong and we still had one more day according the sale post, he still said it was a mistake and they were not going to honor it. At this point we both began to lose our cool a little bit and had requested to speak to someone higher up and when he said there was no one higher up besides him my husband did loose his cool unfortunately and at that point he then said he would honor the deal. My husband and I both have a decent amount decorative tattoos on us and the manager after this was all said and done mentioned how much we must pay for our tattoos and if we can pay for them then we surely can I pay for the milk!!! Maybe he was making a passive aggressive Joke I'm really just not sure. Today again we had a problem with soda that the sale post was in the wrong place. I believe the massive language barrier is the problem. The employees can't read and so they can't put the sales post in the right spot. read more

I really like H Mart! The produce is fresh and very reasonably priced. The fish looked and smelled fresh and the price for lobster is nothing short of amazing! $5.99 per pound for 1-2 pound live lobsters, their tank is super clean and the lobsters are lively! Huge selection of organic grains and dried beans. Sea salt and spices super cheap but still high quality. Obviously every Asian product one could ask for, but also a good selection of Latino and Indian/Middle Eastern goods like tahini, pomegranate molasses and curry pastes. read more

Since this location has opened, it is a great addition to the Manassas community. I usually drove to their location in Centreville but it's nice to have them near my home. Prices are great and reasonable and the seafood is fresh and great. Originally a Giant food location, and located right next to the Home Depot on Liberia. I always buy their premarinated korean pork, chicken, and beef at a good price. They often have buy one and get one free so I double up. In fact I am going there right now to to pick some up. The seafood and produce is plentiful and at good prices. They got smart and didn't stock 100% of they would have as in Centreville and Fairfax, but did cater to Hispanics as well. I usually do not visit these Korean markets unless I am looking for something unique or craving some Korean food but I conducted some other business in this area and needed to make a very quick stop to grab some hamburger buns, so I thought I would give H Mart a try. As expected, there were very limited options on American style foods, such as hamburger buns, and the price was very high, but it was easy to get in and out and that was my mission on this day. I did take a quick look at a couple of things that make K grocery stores popular. The produce was cheap and fresh and the seafood options were abundant and looked fresh. The store did have the fishy smell typical of K grocery but with that much thawed or fresh seafood it is impossible to keep it down. I would visit again for the unique or Korean items I may need, but not for anything else. read more

I went to H Mart with my mother on Sunday. We received lots free goodies, and made us happy. We'd like to come back and continue go grocery shopping there. Hopefully, H Mart in Manassas will be benefit for us. read more

Beware of On Sale goods! I bought products that was expired already! Not expiring but Expired! I didn't feel like driving again! it takes 20 miles to drive both ways and I get home and bought an expired goods!!! read more

H-mart is awesome! The nearest place we can get our Cha Cha sunflower seeds and Korean cold noodles. But they need to update their hours online! We thought they were open until 11pm and dashed over after work looking for the aforementioned Cha Cha, to find that they were closed at 10pm!! Truly a tragic evening. If I could give H Mart on Liberia Ave in Manassas, VA less than 1 STAR, I would. This is the WORST place to shop or eat. There are 3 major concerns here. The Health Inspector needs to visit the food service dept. here, because if he/she did, and saw what I saw, this place would be heavily fined. 1) I saw the food service cooks AND helpers drop food on the floor only to pick it up and put It on plates for customers. Not only did they do that, they mopped the floor, picked stuff out of the trash can, wiped the counters off with their hands all without wearing gloves or washing their hands! The customer behind me saw it too and when we told them, they ignored us. 2) I waited over 30 minutes before the cooks put my order in. Fellow H Mart employees jumped in front of me and a few customers, shouted out their orders, and the cooks prepared their food within 5 minutes. Again, the customer behind me and I asked to speak to the Manager. They said, "No Manager Here" "We are too busy and too many orders" That's when one of the employees starts mopping the floor behind me without signs that the floor is soaking wet. People were jumping out of his way. 3) The customer behind me and I finally went to the front customer service desk and asked for the Manager. The 3 people at the customer service desk kept smiling and nodding their heads and said "No Manager here" "Too Bad - Goodbye". They must have been trained to say that - we were so frustrated we put all our food back on the shelves and left. If you shop and eat her and get sick, you'll know why. I came here over a year ago when the place first opened and saw meat and dairy products were past the sell by date. Even the produce was wilted. This told me that they must have transferred food from their other stores. read more

This HMart has a great variety of produce and cheap price but bad customer service. We bought 2 set of turkey winks (2 in each set). We asked the meat associate to cut them in pieces. After opening the package we realized that three piece were missing from each set(6 piece meat missing in total). We then call to inform them of this issues, they quickly accused us of lying and eating the missing piece instead of trying to resolve this problem. This type of incidence has never happened when shopping for meat at other Grocery store. we only received about 3/4 of what we paid for. Just make sure you count your meat after asking them to cut it. Be very careful. read more
