This location is interesting. On the second floor there are home goods to shop as well as a small cafeteria and some ready made pre packaged foods. I usually stop in for a quick serving of ddukbokki from the cafeteria and while it's never super fresh, it will satisfy the craving. Downstairs is the main food shopping area. They have a decent selection of things-- or at least the things I care to shop for: kimchis, frozen foods, instant coffees, ramens, mochi, etc. the issue I run into is it's very hard to shop due to how crowded and narrow it is. As with a lot of NY real estate, it's a smaller space and just more difficult to navigate. There is almost always a line to checkout but they do a good job to move quickly. This particular location is quite expansive, spread out over multiple floors. You'll find the main supermarket with all the fresh produce, meats, and pantry staples on the first level. Head up to the second floor, and it houses a dedicated beauty store and a small food court, which really adds to the one-stop-shop convenience. This store is neato. I came here over the weekend before trekking to Bryant Park. I was on a mission to make my own ramen and wanted a better selection of noodles than what Trader Joe's has to offer. An overwhelming selection, it was hard to pick just the perfect noods. But ended up with a huge packet of thin wheat, furikake seasoning, and couldn't say no to a bag of frozen dumps. I did a double take when I saw an entire shelf dedicated to foreign kitkat flavors with every flavor I could possibly imagine. I'm sure they have more hidden treasures here but I had a time limit for browsing. They are a tiny bit more expensive than I was hoping for. You can probably find some better deals in China Town but this is easier to navigate and all the hard to find Asian items are just in one store. I love Hmart. I go all the time if I can but I prefer the Fort Lee NJ one bc they always have the best prices and variety and stuff I love even if it's not the biggest in size like Edison NJ. So w that said this location is great and in the heart of Korea town on 32nd street between Broadway and 5th avenue but bc the rent is so high as you can imagine the Manhattan commercial rental rates...the food prices are high unless there's a sale. It's not terrible bc it's definitely not cheap. But if you are in Manhattan and need some authentic Korean grocery items Hmart is the gold standard. Hmart is also known to be very clean and their produce and fruit and vegetables to be washed and presentable and the store is always kept as clean as possible with all that foot traffic so you don't smell anything bad. This supermarket is jammed packed full of appetizing snacks, drinks, and food. If you're making some Asian dishes at home and need some ingredients, or just want some prepared Korean dishes, I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to find what you're looking for at H Mart. It's a nice, clean store, with a good eating area upstairs. Prices are a bit high, but the selection is great. I love this place, and you will too. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Great and fitting to have this store available in Ktown street but it's definitely overpriced and cramped compared to the H Mary's I've been to in Jersey. It does makes sense considering the central location in Manhattan. The selection of food is nice with a variety of snacks, meats, premade meals, frozen snacks, and so on. I've gotten things like the sliced beef here to do a home-hotpor and nearby friends' places. In terms of service and ambiance, the lines can be quite long so be careful for that. Additionally, the store will be very busy and walkways narrow. However, the selection is quite solid despite the limited space. There is also a second floor food court which is quite nice. read more

This H Mart has 2 floors: the first floor is where the groceries are, the second floor is where the food court and beauty shop are. We came around 8 PM on a weekend and it was very packed. I must say everything is well stocked, but it is very crowded inside. The check out line was very long, but it went by decently fast. As for the food court, it might've been because it was pretty late, but there was not many food options left. I still managed to get 2 boxes of the gim mari, 1 box of kimchi dumplings, and 2 boxes of vegetable dumplings. They (the items I got) were all 30% off. As for the check out, the cashier was so nice. He gave me a blind box with my food. He's very respectful and nice; amazing service. I will definitely be coming back, maybe at an earlier time. read more

My husband and I stopped by this supermarket before heading home last night. Is it weird that I like checking out ethnic grocery stores? I love to see what kind of items they sell and for how much. This grocery store is an Asian supermarket and the items had Manhattan prices. They had a variety of vegetables, meats, teas, desserts, Ramen, fruits (i.e. gooseberries, longan, lychee, etc) and even green almonds. It looks like a small place but they packet so many items in the store. What caught my eye were the exotic teas like artichoke and bitter melon teas. I've seen that before. I have to try that one day. They also have wide selection of Melona bars. More than what I've seen in Costco. The service was good. There was someone guiding shoppers to the checkout counters so the flow of traffic moved along. If you haven't shopped here before, check it out. read more

I stop by here often when I'm in Ktown. They sell a wide variety of items. Idek Cheetos Mac N Cheese existed, they got plain cheesy, flamin hot, & cheesy jalapeño (my fave). Was I tempted? Yes. Did I buy? No, cuz I wanted the spicy ones but I can't handle spicy food anymore. Anyway, they had 2 packs (6/pack) of banana milk for $10, so we got that. Was it heavy? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. The banana milk was the only 1 on sale. They have other flavors too like coffee, strawberry, taro, & melon. The only thing I've always wondered ever since I became familiar with banana milk 12yrs ago, is how come they don't have mango milk? Mango milk is by far the best out of all the fruit milk flavors there are. It even wins over chocolate milk imo. Guess it's not an East Asian thing just like banana milk isn't a South Asian thing. It's a shame but oh well. Till somebody/company/brand discovers mango milk & decides to sell it in Hmart... I was so excited to hear that there was going to be a food court opening up in this location! I've been to other locations that have much larger food courts so there wasn't as many options or seating in this one. However, the food quality is just as high and delicious! I came here during their opening and there was a half off deal. While not pictured, I ordered their rice bowl that was made to order and customizable. Even if it's not on sale anymore, I think it's still worth the price and I would definitely order it again! I also ordered the sushi and unfortunately the fish tasted a bit too frozen. Some of the pieces were not properly rolled so it would come out. However, it still tasted good and they gave such generous portions of fish. My favorite was their Yubu Chobap which is basically an Inari filled with rice and toppings. I got the spicy salmon one and it honestly was so good that I had to go back and get more. I went to this H-Mart to see their new food court and the foods were amazing! If you go to the second floor, there is a new food place where you can create your own Korean rice bowl. Starting price is $10.99 and you can add protein if you pay extra $3 which is worth it. I chose Bulgogi and it was really good! The bowl itself comes with so many veggies and egg. They're also doing buy one rice bowl get a free soup until 2/11 which is a really good deal! I had the Korean miso soup which has beef, tofu and potato, and it tasted amazing! Stopped by craving some fast food from the 2nd floor expansion of the store. There is a variety of things to check out at the store other than the food. The food I would say is just simply fast food. It is pretty much self service for the most part. Seating and the background is just like eating at a fast food place. The food wasn't exactly stand out or anything. The beef short-ribs were a bit dry and chicken teriyaki was probably made a while ago so the rice a bit soggy. During my short NYC trip I stopped by since it was an easy walk from where I was staying, and wanted to grab an airplane snack before I left. I loved the selection of ready to eat options on the 2nd floor: sushi, onigiri, kimbap rolls, cut fruits, and tons of drinks to choose from. It was hard to choose! There is also a small eating area by the register for anyone who wants a space to consume their lunch. I overheard the cashier tell another customer that things upstairs need to be paid upstairs, so keep that in mind. I ended up getting a salmon onigiri and bulgogi onigiri plus a non caffeinated bottle of tea. Onigiris kept well and I consumed them about 3-4 hours later on the plane. This H-Mart just upped its game, opening a food court area on the second floor about three weeks ago (in early January 2024). The gimbap that used to be sold opposite the grocery store registers on the first floor are now in a nice, neat case upstairs and brought out from a back room / kitchen so presumably made fresh. There are many more varieties on offer than there used to be and for now, pricing is fantastic ($7.99 a roll). Based on a quick flyby, I remember seeing beef bulgogi, shrimp tempura, Spam, and vegetable -- but there must've been at least two times that number of options on offer. There's also a small counter with a very clean seating area before it, where you can order warm rice bowls with a range of toppings included (chopped romaine; corn kernels; shredded carrots; kimchi; broccoli florets; sauteed zucchini , mushrooms, and green peppers; and fried egg); a meat protein, if you wish, for a bit extra; garnishes (nori, crunchy garlic, crunchy shallots, roe); and a sauce of your choice (e.g. teriyaki, gochujang, etc...). I got the basic bowl without meat and, stupidly, without sauce. Without the sauce, it was bland -- but that's on me. The kimchi, fried egg and rice were all of good quality, and at $10.99, the bowl was a steal for Midtown. The best part of the meal, though, was the kimchi chigae, which until February 11, 2024, is one of three soup add-ons when you order a bowl. (I think the soups are usually $4.99 for the 1/2 to 3/4 pint container.) The chigae was actually EXCELLENT, full of good, ripe, spicy kimchi; tender tofu; rich broth; and small-diced pork. I am passionate about kimchi chigae. I make it at home and ate it probably twice a week while pregnant. This was shockingly well made for a food court / grocery store counter / gratis item. Also on offer upstairs: various maki and nigiri (I've never been super thrilled by these at H-Marts, so didn't try); pre-packaged beef bulgogi rice bowls; dumplings; and other warm, pre-packaged appetizers. I still have a love-hate relationship with the grocery store downstairs, which has jacked up prices on products -- sometimes by 60% -- in the past year or two. (I get supply chain issues, inflation, etc... but when we're talking about, say, domestically produced tofu or gim, I'm not sure I think such price hikes are justified.) The aisles remain impossibly narrow. But with the additional enticements of the new food court upstairs, I have no choice but to return. It's not fair how they stack the cards against me, really! read more

I grabbed what I wanted and got in line to pay for my items. They had a couple of guys managing that line and a bunch of cashiers, so it was pretty easy to pay for your stuff and leave. I had a very disappointing experience at this HMart By far, this was some of the worst customer service I've encountered. After waiting in line for a long time, I was met with rude and dismissive service. The receipt clearly states that returns can be made within 24 hours, yet they refused to process my return even though I was within that timeframe. There was no effort to explain or resolve the situation professionally.On top of that, I was disappointed with the quality of the produce it was not as fresh as expected. Overall, this was a frustrating experience. Their premade bowls were quite hefty. The coconut shrimp rice bowl which came with some julienned carrots and onions. The shrimp a bit soggy, but after tossing it in the air fryer they were great! Always solid, if a bit pricey. Right in the heart of Ktown. Narrow aisles, usually packed, but service is quick. It was the closest Asian market during the pandemic so I gladly paid the city prices. But now that the world has opened back up the premium you pay here is hard to stomach. However, their meat, fruit and veggies are of good quality at least.
