On the positive side, it is a convenient place to buy packaged Korean and Chinese food products. There is less available for Japanese, East Indian, Thai and other staple products. On the negative side, the "fresh" produce is usually in poor condition. Most of the refrigerated produce is wrapped in plastic film, and is bruised or moldy. I went in and was surprised how much ready-made hot foods there were. Like takoyaki, teriyaki, spam musabi, fried calamari etc. The sushi looked good too and only $7.99 for a roll. H-Mart is a lovely addition to the Ballard neighborhood, with it's proximity to Fred Meyer, PCC, and Trader Joe's. I love having access to a larger H-Mart as the U-district location is a lot smaller and limited in selection. What blows my mind about this H-Mart is their beauty section, which is decently stocked with skincare, make up and hair products. What I LOVE is that they have Tir Tir skin cushions in stock. It has been one of my holy grails since they went viral on TIKTOK, and it was a pain-in-the-ass to order them online. Now, I have the convenience of stopping by to pick up a cushion when my heart desires. I wear N22 or N24 depending on the time of year. They also sell the Amuse brand, which I fell in love with during my Seoul vacation a couple years back but they unfortunately didn't have the Dew Power SPF 50 ++ cushion in Tan here. Aside from skin care, I do enjoy their hot foods selection especially the kimbap. It brings me joy to recreate my favorite snacking experience in Seoul: kimbap and an iced coffee. I also love I have restock my KANY instant coffees, Gomtang instant noodle cups, mandu and more from this location. One area of improvement is their meat selection. I was hoping it would be as big as the Lynnwood location but it feels like an afterthought at the Ballard location. I've never checked out H Mart locations in Lynnwood, Redmond, Bellevue, Federal Way, Tacoma, Seattle/Capitol Hill, Seattle/SLU, downtown Seattle, but only the Seattle/UDistrict spot. My interest was piqued on grand opening day (6/5/25) since the FTR Yelp Elite, Andrew T posted a positive review. This was in contrast to The College Friend who also visited earlier in the day who did not have an enjoyable experience. So I decided to stop by around 8pm to check out the new Seattle/Ballard location. Busy parking lot shared with other adjacent businesses. It was nice to wander the entire store visiting later in the evening. Lots to look at - fresh produce, meat and seafood, refrigerated items, frozen items, and other retail items nicely shelved. Pantry items. Snacks. Beverages. Kitchen ware. Beauty products. Hot prepared food. Well lit, clean, and organized. The greater Seattle area is fortunate to have vast international stores: Asian, Latino, Eastern European that come to mind. This new Ballard location essentially is another international store with a Korean focus. For sure, you can get your kimbap, banchan, kim chee, and soju here. Staff was present restocking and organizing sections and shelves, but one can tell it must of been a hectic grand opening judging from the guy who handed me a flyer at the entrance, to the checkout person ringing up my few purchases. I bought 3 bunches of green onions (99 cents), delicious CA strawberries ($1.99), chips ($3.49), and hot takoyaki ($7.99). Love how Ballard, historically a Scandinavian neighborhood in Seattle, added H Mart and noticed Exit 5, a future huge Korean (KBBQ) is taking up the corner of 24th and Market. I'm excited that H Mart opened in Ballard, my neighborhood! Before this, I had to make do with District H in SLU or H Mart downtown. This H Mart is bigger than the other two locations, but the shelves are pretty tall so it still feels a little cramped in the aisles. I was happy to see that the store offers a good variety of big bags of rice, and medium firm tofu (the QFCs and other regular stores around here only carry extra firm or soft tofu and it has always annoyed me). I also saw that this store carries many single-serving drinks that I don't see anywhere else, like Kagome vegetable juice packs. Whereas District H rarely had sales, this location had many product on the weekly sale. I hope that the sales are not just to attract customers for the opening but they continue. Glad they opened a H Mart in my neck of the city! Been to one before but since this one is close to me, we came by to do a little shopping. There is a shared parking lot with a few other businesses but it can get crowded on weekends. They are still celebrating their grand opening so staff is super friendly, provides samples, even security will greet you. Pretty much just like any H Mart, we stocked up on some veggies, fruits, noods, sauces and especially frozen items! Plenty of items in the deli area to grab & go too! Overall, glad we came by, great location for us, clean & new, prices are about the going rate you'd expect, friendly staff etc. Will be back to get our Asian grocery needs! read more

So glad to have another option for grocery stores in the Ballard area. Right next to trader Joe's and PCC. This grocery store definitely has its competition set up for it, but we were extremely impressed with the shiny new grand opening and the fun promos they had today. I probably wouldn't come here for groceries that you can find elsewhere, but it was really nice to have a local spot to find more Asian snacks, drinks, and groceries. The service was extremely friendly, although they were completely packed with the grand opening. It was a bit chaotic checking out but I'm sure they'll figure it out as time goes along. A Hidden Gem We Happened to Find - So Glad We Stopped! While driving through Seattle on our way to Fred Meyer, we happened to pass by this brand-new H Mart in Ballard. Being visitors from Texas and unfamiliar with the area, we decided to make a spontaneous stop--and we're so glad we did! To our surprise, it was only the second day of their grand opening, and the store was buzzing with energy and excitement. Even better, they were offering fantastic deals on a wide variety of products. From fresh produce to popular Korean snacks, everything was attractively priced and well-stocked. One highlight that stood out was the amazing deal on fruit. Earlier that day, we had purchased 8 peaches and nectarines from Pike Place Market for $26. While the quality there was great, we were shocked to find a whole box of nectarines for just $16 at H Mart--nearly half the price! Of course, we couldn't resist buying another box here to compare the taste, and honestly, they were just as fresh and sweet. A great value! The store itself is clean, modern, and very well organized. The layout makes shopping easy and enjoyable. The snack aisle was especially tempting, with many of our favorite Korean treats on sale for the opening. It was also nice to see helpful and friendly staff keeping things moving efficiently despite the crowd. We had a really enjoyable shopping experience, and we'd definitely recommend this H Mart location to anyone--whether you're a local or just passing through like us. The quality, prices, and vibe made it worth the visit. If you're in the area, especially during opening week, don't miss out on these awesome deals and fresh finds. Went to Ballard HMart today. Smaller than other HMarts but there's decent selection of items. Bought Dubai Chocolate that had an advertised price of $14.98 but when I got home and checked my receipt, I was charged $16.99. This makes me wonder what else they are overcharging their customers. It's close but this bad experience makes me not want to return. There are many other grocery stores in the area. read more

0 stars. After I got home, I noticed the ssamjang and a few other items I bought were well past the best by date on the packaging. It was an equally frustrating in store experience, made up of mostly kpop "merch" slop, a small and stale produce section, blaring and annoying music, nonexistent employee presence, and overall just a really poor selection of products. They sell v little korean grocery basics and other essentials you'd normally be looking for at a grocery store. Super annoyed. Likely will never shop at Hmart, at any of their locations in WA again. read more

The only reason why I give this market 2 star is because of the cleanliness of the food court tables. SOMETHING WAS SPRAYED ON and NOBODY WIPES TABLES. Great having an Asian grocery nearby but was overcharged for the few veggies I purchased, and not by a little. They charged me $46 for a single eggplant, but I caught it. The actual charge was $.93. Like wtf. They were very nice about returning the money, but def low trust with H mart. Do not insert your credit card until after everything is rung up and you've looked at your charges. Many items did not have a price sign which I found very annoying. I bought a few items and tried to use an H Mart gift card that a friend gave me a few months back -- the cashier said that they do not take them at this location! He told me I had to go to one of the "bigger stores," and suggested Lynnwood -- we both agreed it was very weird that gift cards are not accepted here. Most of their produce is rotting. I really don't know how they can allow this to be. Doesn't the manger walk through the store? The layout of the store means you walk through the produce first, and it leaves you with such a terrible impression before you get to the rest of the store. Clouds of fruit flies, visible mold. I was so excited to see that there was going to be an H Mart in Ballard since I live right down the street from it. It would no longer have to drive up on Aurora to get all of my Asian ingredients. The problem is it is the worst possible customer service you could ever see or have to endure. If you ask an employee, they don't know where something is. They don't know anything is the cashiers don't know the prices or what items are. I asked at the helpdesk for deep-fried shallots and the customer service lady side, rolled her eyes and said I'm not sure where that is. I told her never mind. I'll make them myself. The produce section, which is is the pride of any Asian store, is in dismal shape. Tired scallion, soft daikon, yellowing gai lan, rotting parsley. Better not carry any at all. Prices are not competitive with other Asian stores in Seattle. After one visit, I'll never go back. read more
