Buddy of mine took me here to grab some tacos for lunch and do a little shopping. He's a regular here so he talked it up a bit. He's of Mexican descent so he validates the authenticity, and it seems so. Lots of products here look as If someone looking for Latin goods can't find it at the standard supermarkets, it's probably here. So yeah, Mendoza's is like part restaurant and part grocery. We kept it pretty simple and got a couple of carnitas tacos and I got a jumex nectar to go with it. The meats are about off the bone as you can get as I watched the lady slice off the cooked pork. The family who runs it were friendly, not just to my buddy but to other patrons that were in and out, so that was a good look. Before we left my buddy insisted, we get a bag of "Dorilocos" - a snack made with Doritos topped with vegetables, peanuts, gummy bears, chamoy, and hot sauce and probably other stuff. It was interesting to say the least. If you're bold or want to take a bet, get yourself a bag, they'll make it right there on the spot haha. Very shareable.

2nd time that I drive to this place and it's closed, it's 5:30pm on Saturday and sign says it's open until 8pm

Awesome local spot! I only found out about it because I picked up my ups package there. Very nice people, in a cute, decorated restaurant/store. Food was delicious and good price! I also got a tamarind and a mandarin jarritos!

Somewhere between a 4 and 5. Closer to 4 because of the prices. You are getting homemade, fresh, and really good quality foods. I bought two salsa, the Roja and Verde. Both are good and spicy 4/5. Your level may vary; my fondness for spice is pretty high compared to most people. Like a lot of #shopsmall markets, it's a treasure hunt. Lots of great items, but they are squirreled away throughout the store. It gives you a reason to talk with the owners, who are happy to help and share some interesting stories. There is a good selection of carryout from the hot food counter. I didn't try any this time, and I will be back for the Chile Rellenos. The prices are a bit high for groceries but the fresh items keep me coming back.

I am going to have to return for some of the food, but the groceries are great. So much variety in a relatively small space. Clean. Helpful. The only reason I am taking off one star is the meat didn't look great. Big selection, but I question the quality and freshness. And that's too bad. With some improvement at the meat counter, this could easily be five stars.

This was my first time here. It was nice and small. They have a lot of Mexican candy options and what they say to be fresh produce. They have a range of Jarritos as well as other Latin drinks I didn't recognize. They have paletas as soon as you walk into the store. They also have a cerniceria that seems to be pretty popular. You can order food by walking to the back of the store. They had a sign above it, but it didn't look like a menu. When I asked the person working for a menu he pointed to everything in the display case while naming it off. There were no prices shown. I ended up getting a plate of carnitas with rice and beans. The carnitas were good, but there was too much buche for my taste. The beans and rice were delicious! The tortillas seemed like they had been reheated more than once; the edges were hard, kind of stale. The green salsa was spicy, but an acceptable spicy. I really liked their green salsa. I didn't taste the red salsa, just because I'm a green-salsa-kind-of-person. When we went to go pay we took out drinks because we weren't done with them. The person working there told us that we had to finish them and then we can out our bottles in the crate below the bottle opener. I'm not sure if it's because they want the deposit or what it may be, but we felt like we were being rushed to chug our drink. Overall, I would recommend it if you want to buy anything other than food. They also had cute signs everywhere that just made us laugh. In one way or another it made us feel at home.

Why are there no prices on the items or on the listed receipt? There should be prices to better inform the customers.

We recently started going to one of their locations outside of Seattle whenever we were in the area. The service remains flawless. It's one of the few butcher shops that consistently deserves a tip but they are always a bit extra! This week, we did a perfect surf & turf : wagyu steak and Chilean sea bass - complete with accompaniments. The fish was flaky and the steak was perfectly seasoned, seared and medium rare. As I was setting up drinks, I was the last one at the table. The steaks were sitting there and everyone had stopped eating. When I asked how it was, I was told "Try it, tell us what you think". I sliced into the steak. It looked amazing. I bit in. BUT afte a chew, I stopped eating it. The beef was definitely 'off' andd spoiled - which explained why no one was eating it. Fortunately, it was surf & turf night so we still had enough to eat. But after paying wagyu prices and lovingly cooking the steak, the disappointment was beyond words. Obviously I will call the store as I want to make sure they pull the remaining inventory from theirr display. At this point, my husband is worried as he had three bites as he presumed the aftertaste was from the truffle sauce I had drizzled. Now, he's worried that he will get sick. I guess time will tell. So FYI --- make sure you check the original dates of the meat before they cut/vaccum seal. Long story short - I hope they read this and review their QA processs to ensure all meats are dated/rotated/stored.

We ordered the Meatball Sub and Eggplant Sub with marinara sauce. Both sandwiches were flavorful and satisfying. The meatball sub was hearty and comforting, while the eggplant sub had a rich marinara sauce that worked well with the sandwich. We were especially disappointed that the Cubano was sold out, as it was one of the main reasons we stopped by. The only drawback was the price--at around $20 per sandwich, it felt a bit expensive for what you get, especially considering it was just a 6-inch sub, even though the quality was good. We visited during a FIFA World Cup match, so the line was quite long, but it moved steadily and efficiently. No complaints there. The atmosphere is casual and straightforward, with indoor seating only. Its downtown location near the stadiums makes it a convenient spot for a quick meal before or after an event. Overall, a good sandwich shop with quality food, though the pricing keeps it from being a must-visit. I'd still come back to finally try that Cubano.
