Small store with smaller selection but I always find what I need or am looking for! There is usually a security presence at the front door. Store has a downstairs and upstairs with the registers near the front door for purchasing. I like coming here is my favorite sort of come to the one thing it is small but they got really good stuff over there. They got two floors their first floor is for groceries in the second floor. It is for skin care and kitchen utensils as well. Every time I go over there they always provide good service. There's always a security by the door to make sure no one steals. This has got to be the smallest HMart I've been into. It's situated in a very busy area. If you need a grab and go, they have that across the street. The first floor is all produce and groceries, but it's limited. I didn't see premade meals that were ready to eat, very limited fruits and vegetables here. Nice to have an H Mart in this neighborhood, but honestly the selections are much fewer compared to the other H Marts in the Greater Seattle area, even including the one in downtown Seattle (that one has actual prepared meals). Also prices are a tad more expensive. Nonetheless, they have banchan sides here for all of your Korean cooking/meal needs. And yes - lots of soju and different types of instant ramen noodles. Twice in a row, I've been in there to buy something and the employees have been rude. Security has been rude. It's too bad cause I really like this place and I like the fact it's close to my apartment, but I'm not going back because I've been reproved twice by their employees. I had my helmet on because I was going to be in and out apparently I didn't notice but they have a sign saying you can't bring scooters in which I can understand if it was raining outside. Just no. Unless you live nearby, there is no reason why you should come here. It's about 1/5th of the size of a regular H Mart. There's no reserved parking, and it's hard to get to by car. It's a tiny convenience store with canned drinks and ramen, most of which are close to expiring. Really hard to navigate through the tiny aisles, and if there's more than 2 other people in the store, good luck trying to get thru. read more

H mart!! It's the newer spot on the ave. And it's kinda perfect for student life. This ones much smaller, much more compact. They still have a lot of the same stuff from downtown but not as fancy/ nice of a store esthetic. The 2 guys that work here are less than friendly too. But it's ok. It's an in and out place! Most stuffs are good. Quick grab of Korean food/ dumplings! Snacks etc. it is overpriced compared to others. But they are one of the H Marts that open late: Till 11 pm! Especially now in pandemic, it's unheard of! Parking is street parking and you will be wrestling with homeless on the ave. They are much more aggressive at night. Overall, smaller H mart on the ave. We've been staying at UWMC for over a week and getting sick of the cafeteria food... and craving Asian food. Found this grocery store on Yelp and the salmon bento looked appealing so took an Uber over there. I didn't even bother to go up to the second floor, just checked out the food stuff on the first floor. They got a good selection of Asian items, including fresh veggies. I was super impressed that they had a selection of Filipino specialty drinks, and their fruit platters looked exceptional. However, the bentos I went there for were pretty unappealing. Don't know how to describe it but they looked old and of poor quality... especially the poke bowls. Ended up not getting any and just purchased some Itoen teas and vinegar cracklings (Filipino)---- two more items I was surprisingly impressed that they carried. read more

Man, I would've loved to have had an H Mart, walking distance from my college. This H Mart located on the Ave is targeted for those college students who frequent the area, as with most of the businesses in the U-District. I visited H Mart, just to check out what they had while in the area, and it was different from my primary location in Bellevue. It's not as spacious, nor is the grocery selection as expansive as other H Marts, but again, this is a location that's catering to students. With that said, they had many already-prepared items, snacks, beverages and other food items. But do not expect a butcher, a deli, a seafood selection, etc... With that said, H Mart on the Ave is a win for Huskies. But for everyone else who's used to shopping at other H Marts, the selection may be limited. Also, when I visited on a weekday after 3PM, the already-prepared items were not discounted, like what they offer at the Bellevue H Mart where items are discounted 30% off. Still, it's a good value for students who want a quick Korean meal and groceries to take back to their dorms and so on. read more

I've been to several H Marts and this one is by far my LEAST FAVORITE. Perhaps this is because it seems to be catered to the student life style (dozens of ramen etc.). Although it was two floors it's small and things were pricey as compared to other Asian grocery stores (keeping in mind that Korean food is usually more expensive in general). The first floor has some produce, mini baked goods, snacks and drinks while the 2nd floor has kitchen tools/kitchen appliances and a small Kpop/Korean beauty product section, which I was hoping had more Korean skin care products. The staff were okay- not super friendly and all hung out around the registers it seems. Tip- limited parking as it is located in the U district and no public restrooms- even for playing customers (odd in my opinion). read more

I love Asian grocery stores and I was hoping to get some cutesy Korean products, so I was excited to check out this H Mart. The store is packed in pretty tightly and the first floor is mostly produce, packaged food items, beverages, and other food groceries. The second floor has more pantry items, some household goods, and their "beauty" section which is its own room. They have a lot of hair color here, some makeup, a few desk accessory type items, and some toys. Not as much as I was hoping for, but I did get a couple things. I also bought some Korean snacks and treats to try and one item that I'd received in a Korean snack box. Their beverage selection is pretty awesome, I wish we had more time to check things out and purchase more to enjoy during our stay. I'd love to visit more H Marts in the future! read more

I find it amusing that there's a huge H Mart up in Lynnwood near Alderwood Mall that I've never visited, but somehow managed to check out the newish, two level H Mart in Seattle's U District on 7/7/17. Seems the Ave has gone through yet another wave of change, becoming an International District mini me with the phethora of Asian restaurants and businesses. With minimal time, I wandered the first floor only. I didn't bother with the second level with alcohol and housewares. Interesting variety of grocery items and ready to go prepared food, with most leaning towards Korean cuisine. I ended up just buying some sesame oil and jasmine brown rice. Note: there's an extra charge for a sturdy plastic shopping bag. Nice, compact, and convenient for folks who live, work, and shop in the UDistrict. read more

Ramen, packaged hot and cold food, snacks, and booze is what a UW student can live off of and this H Mart knows it. These items are on the 1st floor and not the 2nd which is really smart and convenient. The 2nd floor has household goods and items you can cook if you have a decent kitchen. It's not the prettiest or largest H Mart around but it's still good to have an Asian grocery store/mini mart near campus otherwise you'll have to take the U District light rail to Chinatown for Uwajimaya and who has time for that?! Horribly managed. Stickered prices do not match when rung up. I even checked the barcode number to make sure it was right.(Not talking about meats, produce or items with a sticker per weight price) I asked the cashier and he said stickers are wrong, cash register is right. Students predominantly shop here for groceries meaning we need to watch our budget. The store should reevaluate their practice and improve in reflecting accurate prices. Very expensive tiny Hmart , the prices are also definitely marked wrong and then you get surprised at the register. The assortment is very weak , mostly there are good dishes in the ready foods section and snacks like chips and cookies . All the rest is very poor in selection , there are only multi packs of ramen for around $6 and no dry soups packages or sauce pouches and dry noodles to cook with and raw meats selection is almost none with prices even for frozen items going up to $10 and more . Very few beverages , just the small ready to drink sizes . Definitely looks more like a Hmart annex comparing to other huge supermarkets in Lynwood and Bellevue. I like HMart for their snacks so when I saw that there was on in Seattle, I knew I had to see it. While I didn't get any snacks, I did get some kpop stuff to bring back for some friends since they like it. What I like is that they have stuff suck as cds, socks, stickers, keychains, backpacks, shirts, etc. I like the selection they have and it is definitely more than the San Jose and Los Angeles ones. I've seen that they have lots of selections for take home food (kimbap, kimchi). The things I don't like about this place is that it is super duper small. To put in retrospect, the ones in Los Angeles and San Jose are like Safeway-sized, but this one is more like the size of a small bubble tea shop. I am a regular at the Lynnwood H-Mart and while I think that one is obviously better, this Ave location one is really convenient if I need to get some basics (kimchi, gochujang, etc.) or any packaged good (soju, drinks, chips, cookies, ramen, etc.) Prices are noticeably higher, maybe 10-15%+ across the board? Obviously suited towards foot traffic / college students. Ready made foods, drinks, and snacks are their emphasis. They also have home goods and cosmetics upstairs in addition to alcohol, ramen, and snacks on 2nd floor. Staff is usually super friendly, mainly college students. The Korean workers need to be a little more friendly to non-Korean customers. Since I am Korean and try to make it known, I am served well but I've observed a little coldness towards non-Koreans. This is like the grocery outlet of H Marts, yet without the savings. It's a pretty cramped store and the selection is much smaller than the other H-marts, which is understandable considering it's not a suburban strip mall location. I thought the produce looked not great and the meat selection was small. If you need ramen, they do have a lot of that. I didn't go upstairs. It's probably great for the students in the area to have at least some access to this instead of the sad Asian aisle at the local grocery chain. read more
